You’ll join JDRF as a Special Events Manager and support the organisations mission by developing and implementing their Special Events strategy. The position will:
- Assist the Head of Special Events in the development and implementation of JDRF’s Special Events strategy to deliver engagement and income
- Support the Head of Special Events on large, high-profile Special Events by taking responsibility for delegated aspects of the events
- Lead responsibility for events including budget management, ticket sales, guest stewardship, fundraising and supplier management
- Develop a written plan and budget for each allocated event and report regularly to the Head of Special Events on event progress against budget, targets and objectives
Ideal skills and experience:
- Experience of managing successful Special Events within the charity sector
- Understanding of budget management, and track record of achieving and delivering income and expenditure budgets
- Ability to build relationships and steward high value supporters, senior volunteer committees and external suppliers
- Experience of managing projects from inception to completion

The Role
As the Head of Social Impact, you will play a key role in driving positive change and evidence-based practices to support our goals by:
- Articulating and communicating our social impact in ways that are more accessible to multiple stakeholder groups – allowing stories to be told to ensure systemic change in STEM Education.

First Give
First Give is a national charity that inspires young people to make a difference to the causes they care about. We do this through working in partnership with secondary schools, providing a fully resourced scheme of work that guides an entire year group of students to engage with local charities and causes and then carry out social action (fundraising, raising awareness, campaigning, volunteering etc.) in support of them.
At the end of each programme, a celebratory School Final is held at each school, where teams representing each class deliver presentations about their projects. The class considered to have engaged the best with the programme secures a First Give grant of £1,000 for their chosen charity. By the end of the programme, however, the whole year group will have given back meaningfully to their local community. We currently work in partnership with about 200 schools every year across England and Wales.

The Role
Our facilitators are key to the success of the programme, delivering three inspiring sessions in each school through the course of the programme. They are essentially the ‘face of First Give’, and we rely on them to bring the energy and enthusiasm that makes First Give events special for schools and students.
The purpose and role of the facilitator for each of these in school sessions is outlined below.
Role of facilitator
Assembly
The students’ introduction to the First Give programme, Facilitators ensure a positive start by delivering an engaging and informative assembly to the year group which motivates and inspires students who are about to start their First Give journey.
Presentation Skills Workshop
A two-hour presentation skills workshop which equips presenting students with the skills and confidence that they need to deliver a high standard of presentation at their First Give Final.
This workshop includes running a series of engaging activities to develop the students' presentation skills and confidence. The facilitator then works alongside the students, giving feedback and promoting discussion for how the students could create an even greater impact.
The group size can range from 30-60 students.
First Give Final
A 3 hour event broken into two halves, the Final involves rehearsal time and co-ordinating and hosting the First Give Final, which is a celebration of the social action undertaken by the whole year group.
It is at this event that the judges decide which class wins the £1,000 First Give grant for their chosen charity, and should be a true celebration of the students’ hard work across the year group.
Ensuring that this event is a success from the perspective of students, teachers, judges and all other guests. Finals are usually large-scale events with between 150 - 300 people in the audience, depending on the size of the school.
Pre & post event admin
For the delivery of each session to be complete, facilitators provide prompt and detailed feedback to the First Give central team after each event via the Salesforce CRM system. All facilitators will have a First Give Twitter account for posting about the events they facilitate too.
Person specification
- Experience of working with young people and an understanding of safeguarding
- Passionate about young people and their potential to drive social change; a passion for what First Give does and engaging young people in the social issues affecting their communities
- Experience of working with large groups (c. 30+), preferably secondary age young people, in a secondary school setting
- Very confident leader of workshops and events
- Very strong behavioural management skills
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to changing situations
- Experience of confident and engaging public speaking and presenting
- Ability to positively engage a wide range of stakeholders including young people, teachers, school senior leaders and guests
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Able to work flexibly including early starts and late finishes

- Proven ability to proactively seek and identify new prospects as well as producing high-quality prospect research on these individuals and foundations.
- Experience of developing bespoke fundraising proposals for trusts and foundations, or grant giving bodies.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Promote and support implementation of the recommendations of the global report at national level.
- Offer policy analysis and advice to help identify priorities and entry points for engaging with Ministries of Health and other stakeholders.

About The Role:
The successful candidate will support the Community and Challenge Event Manager to find ways to increase engagement and bring fresh ideas to the team and steward fundraisers. This role will be responsible for maximising the value of fundraisers by helping to develop and deliver their supporter journey with MQ, whilst supporting the wider marketing team with producing content including blogs and social media.
Here's a summary of your key responsibilities:
- To foster and strengthen relationships with community fundraisers and challenge event fundraisers by developing and delivering tailored supporter journeys and stewardship plans.
- Manage the fundraising lead ads from meta and contacting them with the relevant information.
- Manage community fundraising enquires and challenge event registrations via the MQ website and other digital platforms such as Just Giving
- Assist with the development of community and challenge event marketing and stewardship materials
- Be a key point of contact for event organisers of third-party events, including Run for Charity
- Source and manage new opportunities for community fundraising and engagement, including schools, colleges and universities.
- Work closely with Marketing Team colleagues to develop community and challenge event marketing and stewardship material
- Upload challenge event opportunities to the MQ website.
- To support social media ads for community fundraising products and our challenge events.
- Reply to messages and moderate comments on our social media channels.
- Support the content team with additional content when needed e.g. social media posts, blogs etc.
- Send out supporter packs to new fundraisers when they initially sign up and fundraising materials when needed throughout the supporter journey
- Attend challenge events and community fundraising events as required to support MQ fundraisers (Will include some evenings and weekends)
About You:
This role is for you, if you have 1+ years’ experience in supporting community and events fundraising and track record of achieving financial targets and key objectives.
We need someone with experience of working on challenge events as well as knowledge of marketing and social media management.
You'll need to be organised, creative and proactive.
Experience of Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge/NXT is desirable but not essential.

Somerset Sight, your local sight loss charity, is expanding. We are looking for a positive can- do person with passion and energy to raise the charity’s profile whilst supporting our face to face service provision throughout the county.
The person will be well organised, proactive, empathetic and have the ability to work flexibly and in partnership with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders. The Project
An emotional and wellbeing service that supports adults aged 18+ in primary care who are experiencing a range of mental health difficulties. Patients are offered extended consultation times, quick and easy access to practical advice and tailored support for their mental health needs from a multidisciplinary team.
Patients can explore the situation affecting their wellbeing – whether that is an ongoing mental or physical health problem, loneliness, debt, or other issues. They can then be guided to appropriate resources that may help, including talking therapies, benefits advice, or an introduction to a local community group.
The role of the Community Connector is fundamental to the developing of these innovative teams and mental health services based within networks of GP Practices (Primary Care Networks – PCNs). Providing a primary care mental health service within this context refers to:
- First level of intervention
