Overview:
Following the successful application of a National Lottery award, we are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Group Development Officers to set up and sustain local peer support groups for people living with and affected by prostate cancer. These roles focus on building on our established networks to expand peer support in defined areas, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery through strategic outreach and resource development.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals living with and affected by prostate cancer, providing crucial support through community-based initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Group formation and support: Oversee the setup and operation of 10-12 self-sustaining and independent peer support groups within your assigned region across the lifetime of the three-year project. Ensure smooth delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of group activities. Support existing group leaders and organisers to reach more people living with and affected by prostate cancer with tools and resources.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteer Support Group Leaders. Assist in the co-production of training materials and resources, aimed at creating self-sustainable groups.
- Community Engagement: Conduct outreach to map existing support services and facilitate the integration of these services with the peer support groups. Host local engagement events to boost volunteer recruitment.
- Data and Case Management: Use a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to support high-quality volunteer and case management, ensuring accurate data collection to support service outcomes.
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver tailored training programmes for volunteers based on the specific needs of Group Leaders and Organisers. Set up regional forums for sharing best practices and peer networking. Encourage use of Members Portal to share good practice.
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with Best Practice Guidance document. Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies to maintain safe governance of peer support groups.
Skills and Qualities Required:
- Strong Facilitation and Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with diverse groups. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Project Management: Proven skills in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Ability to meet deadlines and manage a varied workload.
- Volunteer Management: Experience in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers in community settings. Knowledge of best practices in volunteer management.

Main purpose and scope of role
Working closely with the President and the Board of Trustees, the CEO will provide strategic vision and leadership and will strive to ensure that IPWSO delivers its charitable purposes and remains successful and sustainable.
Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not limited to)
Leadership
· Strive to ensure that the charitable purposes of IPWSO are followed and that it delivers the public benefit set out in its governing document.
· Take overall responsibility for the management and administration of IPWSO.
· Provide support and information to the Board of Trustees to enable trustees to fulfil their roles and legal responsibilities.
· Pursue close cooperation with, and accountability to, IPWSO’s members.
· Act as an ambassador for IPWSO by representing IPWSO at events and networking to build new strategic relationships.
· Keep abreast of relevant new research, treatment recommendations and service developments for people with Prader-Willi syndrome.
Governance
· Strive to ensure that IPWSO has governance systems in place that enable it to consistently fulfil its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities.
· Maintain awareness of risks and changes in the external environment that could affect IPWSO and advise the Board of Trustees accordingly.
· Together with the President manage complaints (including from whistle-blowers) and recommend actions to the Board of Trustees
Finance and Fundraising
· Work with the Treasurer and the Finance Committee to ensure the overall financial health and sustainability of IPWSO.
· Work with the Treasurer and the Finance Committee to prepare budgets for review by the Board of Trustees and to enable IPWSO to operate within its financial means.
· Seek to ensure that appropriate financial reports are submitted to the Charity Commission and other entities as required.
· Support the work of the Fundraising Committee and strive to ensure a sustainable income from both IPWSO members and individual, corporate, philanthropic and government donors.

Duties
The role will involve a combination of stewardship and new business, helping us to secure support from more trusts, foundations and businesses who share our passion for transforming the lives of children in the communities with whom we work.
Key duties will be to:
- Prospect and research potential grantmakers and businesses who share our strategic objectives
- Take a relationships-based approach wherever possible, establishing warm relationships between partners and Chance for Childhood
- Provide input to the 2025-2030 fundraising strategy, using your experience and knowledge of the fundraising landscape to help us devise an ambitious but sustainable plan to safeguard our work for the next five years
- Maintain a strong pipeline of funding opportunities
- Draft compelling, creative and persuasive funding proposals
- Secure four, five and six figure grants from trusts and foundations
- Manage a small portfolio of trusts and corporate partners, maintaining an accurate calendar of reporting and stewardship expectations

Person specification:
A highly organised, detail-oriented self-starter who engenders credibility and trust with stakeholders, you will have good working knowledge of corporate and trusts and foundations fundraising, and very strong written and verbal communication skills.
To be the right fit for this role, you do not need to have a degree. You do not need experience in international development fundraising, although this would be an advantage.

The Project
Over the last few years, the Breck Foundation worked closely with Volunteer Police Cadet Units in Surrey and Tower Hamlets to train cadets as ‘Breck Ambassadors’, equipping them with the training needed to talk in schools to their peers about staying safe online and the key signs of grooming.
We are proud to take this successful project further having secured funding with the Office of Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC) to recruit and train up to 30 ‘Youth Ambassadors’ (for online safety) in schools across Sussex. The Youth Ambassadors will learn how to tell Breck’s story and empower young people with the tools they need to stay safe online. Working closely with schools to enable the students to become Online Safety Ambassadors for their school community, advocate for their peers and to be a voice of expertise and counsel. You will work with schools and community groups to generate impact through Breck’s story (on online grooming) and other important topics related to children’s online safety.
This flagship project for the OSPCC will launch in April 2025 (Coordinator starts in January 2025) and run for at least 12 months, with potential funding up to three years. We hope it will set a precedent for others to follow our lead and develop similar programmes for young people across the UK.

Greater Manchester Youth Federation (“GMYF”) is looking for 2 part time Youth Workers who will work with young people at their Partington and Charlestown Youth Centres.
About GMYF
GMYF is a long-established charity that works with young people across Greater Manchester, to support their aspirations and create opportunities. Our mission is to deliver a year-round programme of recreational and educational opportunities to young people, volunteers and leaders within our stand-alone centres and to provide support to affiliated clubs.
GMYF opened our first Youth Centre in Partington in September 2022 and have recently opened a new Youth Centre in Charlestown. The Role
The role of a GMYF Youth Workers to be young person centred, providing a nurturing, safe and supporting environment for the young people, building and maintaining positive relationships with them. You will be based at either Partington or Charlestown Youth Centres working with 9-16 year olds. You will support the Youth Activities Lead in planning and delivering a full programme of activities including centre-based, as well as supporting our outdoor adventure team with outdoor activities and residentials.
Key areas of focus for the Youth Worker will be:

Support the young people: always take a young person-centred approach to all activities. Maintain the ethos of the organisation by providing a nurturing, safe and supporting environment. Build and maintain positive relationships with the young people, recognising their different needs and starting points. Encourage young people to take an active role in social action projects youth voice and young leader activities.

Assist the Youth Activities Lead: work together with the team in planning and delivery of full programme of activities, including evening youth club sessions. Assist in the development and introduction of additional activities eg twilight sessions, drop ins, youth voice, targeted group work, mentoring. Identify the formal and informal educational, social, cultural and recreational needs of the young people and plan a programme of positive interventions and innovations which enhances the knowledge, awareness and personal development of the young people. Articulate and record young people’s progression in sessional and project recording documentation and provide information for management and funding reporting.

Residentials: Attend weekend residentials and events at the GMYF’s outdoor pursuits centre and encourage the young people to get involved. Support and assist with the planning and delivery of off-site trips/activities and residentials at various locations.

Safeguarding: comply with all policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, codes of conduct, health and safety, and equality and diversity. Be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of youth club members is promoted and prioritized. Report any concerns and participate in Safeguarding training.

Represent Greater Manchester Youth Federation: Ensure conduct is professional and represents GMYF in a positive manner to internal and external visitors, working with a wide range of local partners and community organisations.

About You
We are looking for candidates who believe in GMYF’s mission and are experienced in working with young people. Working with a team of three LTT employees, as well as Trustees and supporters the key objectives of the Partnerships team is to:
- Support our ambitious vision: a quality, inclusive education for every child in Tanzania.
- Plan; manage; deliver; monitor and maintain oversight of LTT’s Trust and Foundation fundraising portfolio, activities and opportunities. Target is to raise in excess of £300,000 per annum from UK and International Trusts, Foundations, other Institutional Donors and individuals in 2025-6 and increase by £40,000 a year thereafter.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
This position will focus on sourcing and developing potential national and international funders who provide single and multi-year grants in excess of £10,000 including those who do not accept unsolicited grants.
Duties include:
- Develop and manage opportunity pipelines of prospective funders, planning introductions.
- Write compelling, concise, well-presented, tailored approaches and grant applications in Word and Canva.
- Liaise with the Operations team, to gather the relevant information for grant applications (e.g. data, case studies, imagery etc).
- Ensure systems are kept up to date with all details of grant application documents, progress and outcomes and any other interactions with funders.
- Work with partners in Tanzania to offer them support and guidance
- Draft programme reports for projects for which you have raised funds.
- Contribute with other team members to the organisational budgeting process, by producing a detailed breakdown of opportunities and likelihood of success.
- Contribute to production of key external documents which may impact Trust and Foundation fundraising e.g. Annual Report & Accounts, Impact Report.
- Attend team meetings at least twice a year
- Attend relevant third-party events/training as required.
- Attend and assist with some LTT fundraising events.
- Other related duties as required.
Key Requirements
- Knowledgeable and passionate about International Development/Education
- Understanding and respectful of cultural differences.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a grant fundraising role, with a successful track record of regularly securing 4 and 5 figure grants.
