The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking an Events Manager (Public Engagement) to join the Communications and Marketing department to devise and deliver the year-round public engagement programme.

The role

The role will be responsible for the planning, management and delivery of programmes designed to support researchers to develop their skills and experience in public engagement as a route to impact. This includes the annual flagship Summer Showcase festival, the nationwide public engagement funding scheme SHAPE, Involve and Engage, and key partnerships and collaborations with other organisations in the sector.

You will work closely with the Head of Events and Public Engagement on the strategic development of these programmes and will be responsible for supporting and guiding researchers to develop high-quality, innovative projects which provide meaningful opportunities for two-way dialogue with the public about their research and the humanities and social sciences more broadly.

About you

You will be someone who has passion and experience of delivering high-quality public engagement activities and who thrives in the ‘live’ environment of events and other public-facing activities. You will be equally as comfortable with planning, including developing frameworks for monitoring and evaluation.

You will also have experience in managing and developing people, whether directly managing staff or leading on a task with a dotted-line basis. A core part of this role is working in partnership with both internal teams and external organisations, and so we are looking for someone who is collegiate and flexible and who understands how to build positive working relationships across a diverse range of skillsets and experiences.

You will be joining at an exciting time, with the recent completion of three brand-new state-of-the-art events spaces at our home on Carlton House Terrace and continued growth in the Academy’s role as a research funder. You will play an important role in contributing to the ongoing programme for this new development.

The Foundation Manager will report directly to the COO and act as the general manager of the charity, serving as the central pivot, which all operations revolve around. African Adventures Foundation is a registered charity set up in 2013 to provide support to 29 schools in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.

These schools provide education, health and food security, and social support to young people whose access to these basic services would otherwise be very limited. African Adventures Foundation helps by funding food security programmes, the construction of important school facilities, and hygiene projects that will benefit children’s health and education. With your help, we can continue to provide security and opportunities for more children in Africa.

It's an extremely exciting time to join our team as we continue to expand our company. Due to our current growth and expected growth over the coming years, we are in the process of relocating from Eastleigh to new office premises in Whiteley, which are better able to accommodate our expanding team. This role may also require travel outside the UK to visit our Programmes as needed by the business.

The role is centred around three core elements: charity management, programme delivery, and fundraising.

Responsibilities

1. Charity management (with support from the COO & Trustees)

• Line management of the Programme Officer in all respects including recruitment, conduct, capability, welfare, personal development.
• Indirect (matrix) management of the in-country Foundation Coordinators.
• Key member of the broader UK Management team.
• Support the COO and Chair of Trustees with the overall Governance framework of the charity including standards, processes and reporting.
• Primary point of contact for the board of Trustees day-to-day, supporting the Chair of the Trustees in the coordination and administration of Board activity.
• Lead on development, oversight and operation of charity standards, processes and systems.
• Work alongside the charities dedicated Finance Officer in ensuring good financial management of income and expenditure through planning, approvals, and processes.
• Attend a variety of external charitable, donor, and operational events or locations as required from time to time.
• Work closely with supporting departments like Finance, Marketing, and Travel Operations on all charity related matters.
• Handle day-to-day enquiries, questions, and issues related to the Foundation.

2. Programme Delivery (delivered by the Programme Officer)

• Ensure that a clear, documented process is in place for receiving, triaging, and managing requests related to volunteer projects and charity support.
• Lead the prioritisation process for articulated charitable requests, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained and properly documented.
• Support strong project management throughout the planning and delivery of approved charitable projects.
• Ensure a robust MEAL [Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning] process is in place for measuring and reporting on the impact of the charity’s work with its beneficiaries, donors, and trustees.

3. Fundraising (with support from the COO & Trustees)

• Responsible for the developing and managing the Fundraising Opportunities Portfolio ensuring all stakeholders have clear visibility of funding gaps and opportunities for current and prospective donors.
• Responsible for leading on developing fundraising activities as informed by the Fundraising Strategy to drive income and cover operational expenditure.
• Maintain strong Donor relationships and develop grant applications adding to support a healthy funding pipeline to ensure we meet the charities fundraising targets.
• Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure effective marketing and social media strategies in are in place and to maximise the opportunities they provide.

What We’re Looking For:

Due to the breadth of this role, we would only expect an incumbent to have relevant experience in 2 of the 3 core elements of the role as a minimum, but with a strong desire to develop and learn in the 3rd with dedicated support.

Essential:

• Excellent Written & Communication skillset. A true collaborator.

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust

The Role 

The Clubhouse Social Café Manager will lead on the implementation of the of café (Due to open in October 2024) and will manage the Food and Beverage Operations in line with food, and health and safety regulations. You will be involved in the initial set-up of the facility. 

You  will be responsible for managing the day to day running of the café, providing a diverse of community and health wellbeing projects in collaboration with Trust Senior Manager - Health and Wellbeing. They will also manage and mentor staff and trainees to deliver an effective and inclusive service to customers.

About You 

We are looking for a passionate, inspiring catering/hospitality specialist to lead on training, mentoring and the hospitality operation of our new Clubhouse Café at Gunnersbury Park. The café is part of the new Community Sports hub at the site and will also double as a social and community space linking into community projects for all ages. Projects will include mental and physical health with the space acting as a central meeting/training hub. In this capacity you will work closely with the Trust's Health and Wellbeing Senior Manager. 

We are partnering with the homeless charity Change Please to create a West London training hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and training the café team. Our founder partners in the project are The University of West London (UWL) and the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association Fund. We are linking with the University to offer a range of immersive opportunities for their catering and business students and our Café Manager will link with them on a number of working projects.

The other aspect is the promotion and training in the importance of food, health and performance and the Manager will work with our Trust team to create innovative content and inspiring outreach programmes. Whilst we expect the Manager to have an active interest in food and nutrition, we plan to put some catering support and training in place to support the position.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has appropriate experience to lead the food and beverage side of the operation. They will be involved in the initial set-up of the facility (Due to open in Summer 2025) and the establishment of appropriate operation and health and safety procedures.

Purpose of the Job 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical lead working within our Mental Health Support Teams and wider Children and Young People’s Services. As an integral part of our services, you will ensure the high-quality delivery of mental health interventions for children and young people. You will provide  clinical supervision and support to a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice and national guidelines. This role involves overseeing the delivery of low-intensity and early intervention mental health support within schools and the community for children and young people between the ages of 5-18 (for young people with SEND under 25). • Providing case management and clinical supervision (1:1 and group) and some line management
• Supporting the team to write sensitive and appropriate reports concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of children and young people

Essential

The Individual Giving Manager will contribute towards Ex Cathedra’s ongoing sustainability and success by maximising philanthropic income:

Strategy and research

• build, maintain and continually seek to expand a pipeline of prospects capable of making gifts at a high 4-, 5- and 6-figure level, making sure that all progress is tracked, monitored and reviewed on a routine basis

Operations Manager

We are looking for an Operations Manager to join this charitable programme based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus with a mission of working in partnership to improve healthcare globally.

Position: Operations Manager

Location: Hybrid working to include days in the office on Cambridge Biomedical Campus

Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 per annum FTE (depending on skills and experience)

Hours: Part time 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE)

Contract: Initial two-year fixed term contract

About the role:

This is an exciting new role that recognises the organisation’s growth and development. As Operations Manager, you will lead on risk, financial, and operational management across the organisation’s projects and programme. Working closely with the team, partners and finance colleagues, you'll ensure the smooth, effective, and compliant running of the programme.

You will play a central role in maintaining and improving systems, supporting compliance, and enabling the effective use of donor funds. You will work across departments and partners to build capacity, embed good practice, and help to deliver high-quality and impactful global health programmes.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading on financial oversight and operations processes for the charitable programme.

• Ensuring policies, procedures and systems support safe and effective programme delivery.

• Managing financial compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and donor reporting.

• Supporting partner organisations with finance and grant management.

• Leading on audits and financial reporting with support from finance colleagues.

• Developing and implementing systems to support efficient day-to-day operations.

• Contributing to budget development for grants and ensuring alignment with cost recovery.

• Communicating complex finance issues clearly to non-finance staff.

• Supporting and training partners’ finance staff and building capacity.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be a proactive, organised individual with experience in finance and operations in the international development or global health sector. You’ll have a strong understanding of financial compliance and controls, a high level of accuracy, and enjoy working as part of a small and passionate team.

You will also need to have the following skills and experience:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

• At least three years’ experience of multi-partner projects in the international development sector, including financial management.

• Highly competent in Excel and confident creating templates and financial databases.

• A systematic, detail-oriented, and organised approach.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to explain financial and contractual information to non-finance colleagues.

• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility.

We’re looking for someone who wants to join our busy charity to make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives. With experience in bookkeeping and financial administration, you will love numbers (and spreadsheets), have great attention to detail and be an excellent communicator.  Working closely with the Director, you will be responsible for the administration of the Charity’s finances, including lots of different projects, accounts and a wide variety of transactions. • Weekly - invoice processing, payments, petty cash, bank deposits and reconciliation etc
• Monthly - compiling monthly payroll, creating management accounts/financial reports, supporting Project Managers with financial analysis, and reporting to Director/Trustees
• Annual – preparing budgets, submitting financial returns, reporting at the Annual General Meeting, and working with the accountancy firm to complete the financial audit.
• Ad hoc –financial support for Farm Events, developing budgets and other enquiries.

As a member of the Farm’s Operational Management team, you will support the organisation with financial insights and guidance to help us develop the charity, remain sustainable and achieve our mission.

• Contract type: Permanent 
• Salary: Salary between £33,024 and £36,648 depending on experience.
• Hours of work: 28 hours per week (with some flexibility for the right candidate, but not less than 21 hours per week) largely undertaken between 9 - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

The Restored Beacon Network is a national network of churches that provide a place of welcome and safety for those who have experienced domestic abuse. Beacon churches partner with us to receive training, guidance and resources so that they can effectively support survivors in their congregations and communities, shining a light in the darkness of domestic abuse and journeying with them on the road to recovery. 

The Restored Beacon Network manager will work with the CEO to grow and develop this important network of churches. You will meet and recruit new church partners and walk them through the journey to becoming a Restored Beacon and beyond. This will involve meeting with church leadership, assessing their readiness to become a Beacon, arranging a training schedule, and supporting Restored Beacon Co-ordinators. You'll care for our church partners, providing spiritual, emotional and practical support to them as they work at the front line of supporting survivors. As our Finance Manager you will be responsible for the smooth running of the financial administration of the charity. Working closely with the Director of Finance & Operations, you’ll create timely financial reports, budgets & forecasts to inform decision making. 

As an experienced manager, you will bring strong financial management skills, efficient administrative systems oversight, and a proven track record of working effectively within small teams. Excellent communication and organisational abilities are essential, along with a proactive, solution-focused approach 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Financial Management: Oversee daily operations of the finance function, ensuring accurate month-end processes, preparation of management accounts, maintenance of the Xero accounting system, and strong financial controls and procedures. 

• Team Leadership and Oversight: Manage and support the Business Administration and Finance Officer, reviewing reconciliations and ensuring effective financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, and corporate cards. 

• Forecasting and Budgeting: Lead monthly and quarterly financial forecasting and support the Director of Finance and Operations in developing and monitoring the annual budget. 

• Financial Processing: Ensure all transactions are supported with appropriate documentation, manage income recording with the philanthropy team, and oversee gift aid submissions. 

• Payroll and Pensions: Process monthly payroll and pension contributions through Xero, manage HMRC obligations, and ensure staff expense claims are handled accurately and timely. 

• Compliance and Governance: Prepare statutory returns for the Charity Commission and Companies House, ensuring compliance with all financial and legal reporting requirements. 

• Uphold Envision’s values and be a role model for young people and volunteers. 

• Ensure that all activity is delivered in line with Envision policies and procedures.

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Competencies: 

• Prior experience of working in a similar role (min 2 years) 

• Accounting qualification (e.g.  AAT Level 3 or above, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or Qualified by Experience 

• Experience with IT systems – Office365, Shared drives 

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to present financial reports and information effectively to a wide variety of audiences.
