We are recruiting an experienced horticultural consultant who is passionate about involving the community in growing plants and seasonal produce. The Community Gardener will support with the planting and harvesting of fresh, seasonal and organic produce over the busy growing season over the Summer months. The consultant will support with providing volunteers, residents and families to understand the practicalities of gardening and horticultural practices.

You will be responsible for planning and facilitating educational workshops, leading volunteers, coordinating the weekly garden market and helping to maintain the garden over the summer period. Job Title: Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Social Worker (Part-Time)

Job Summary:

Barnardo's Bewick Road Service is excited to offer an opportunity for a qualified social worker to join the Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Centre at James Cook University Hospital, Teesside. This part-time role offers the chance to develop your social work skills within an established and supportive multi-disciplinary team (MDT). The position also includes flexible working options Monday to Friday, with ongoing support and training provided.

To be considered for this role, candidates should have at least three years' post-qualification experience working with vulnerable children or adults, and be registered with Social Work England (or equivalent). A full UK driving licence is required.

Main Duties:
The CF social worker will provide support to children with Cystic Fibrosis, their families, and carers, focusing on the social aspects of care. The service covers a large geographical area, including Teesside, Redcar and Cleveland, and Durham, with the role based at James Cook University Hospital.

Key responsibilities include:

• Attending outpatient clinic appointments, inpatient ward admissions, and conducting home visits to assess and follow up on community-based needs.
• Supporting the Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis team in addressing the emotional, social, practical, and financial needs of children and families affected by CF.
• Collaborating closely with relevant social services and healthcare professionals, in line with legislation, professional standards, and policies.
• Assisting families with welfare rights, financial matters, housing, education, and the variable impacts of living with CF.
• Helping families secure appropriate disability benefits and ensuring access to necessary support services.

The Green Doctor Trainee will work alongside our experienced Green Doctors to help residents use energy efficiently, reduce bills, and to stay warm and well in their homes. The role will include supporting customers by telephone, travelling in the local area to deliver home energy visits, fitting small energy-saving measures (sometimes involving working at height), and taking part in promotional activities to spread the word about our service. You will learn how to use equipment and tools, gather and record data accurately, and ultimately provide high-quality advice to help people who are most in need.

GREEN DOCTOR ACADEMY

This placement is part of a national Green Doctor Trainee scheme funded by the Cadent Foundation. Trainees will take part in the Green Doctor Academy: a program of training, learning and support. The Manna Day Centre is a drop-in Centre for homeless and vulnerably housed single men and women. It is run by a team of project workers, under the Director, who are responsible for its smooth operation. Basic Services offered include food, showers, clothing, housing & welfare advice, medical care, and access to laptops. The Centre opens to service users 7 days a week, 8.30am– 1.30pm. The working week for this post is Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm each day.

The Senior Housing & Welfare Advice Worker must have a commitment to homeless people, which includes acceptance and respect. Responsibilities are shared among the team according to needs, skills and aptitudes. The annual salary is negotiable (depending on your experience) ranging from £33,775 to £41,359.
