THE ROLE
•    This is a key role in our Wales Communication & Engagement team which works with other Volunteer Development Officers across the Trust to help deliver on the volunteering strategy for the region.
•    The role will support compliance including record keeping, induction and training, as well as develop new opportunities based on regional priorities and deliver a range of communication and face to face activities to create a safe and positive volunteering experience.
•    You will run a range of activity to develop effective communication methods including writing articles, delivering events, supporting peer to peer support and shared learning so volunteers are engaged and feel valued.  
•    You are responsible for being the link between the National Volunteering Team and regional volunteer managers to ensure that managers feel supported and volunteers have a meaningful, safe and enjoyable experience. 
•    You will lead on regional recruitment of existing and new roles, in line with regional priorities to ensure volunteer roles are appropriate and support the needs of the Woodland Trust. 
•    This role is based in Wales and will require the successful candidate to travel around the country.
•    This is a 3 year fixed term contract, 22.5 hours per week
•    This role may require an enhanced DBS check as part of our pre-employment checks.

THE CANDIDATE
•    Hands on experience working with volunteers and volunteer managers including recruitment, training and managing volunteers with positive outcomes.
•    Experience in working across a range of teams at a regional level to support existing and develop new volunteering opportunities, ensuring the support of volunteering to undertake activities in a positive, fun and safe way. 
•    You’ll have experience in developing new volunteering opportunities in line with regional and national strategies.
•    You’ll have a collaborative approach, with the ability to work with multiple teams, building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders effectively. 
•    You’ll know how to deliver effective events including promotion, risk assessments for indoor and outdoor environments.
•    Strong communication skills, both written and verbally being able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, especially volunteers using a variety of methods to suite the audience. 
•    This role does require regular travel around Wales. A full UK driving licence is required.

Night Support Workers enable people with particular needs to manage their tenancies and live independent lives of their choosing in the community. Night Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of a support service at night and for keeping customers and the building safe.

The shift patter for this role include:12 hour shifts 4 on 4 off.

What you'll do:
- Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere
- Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
- Conducting key work sessions as required, that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
- Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'

A dynamic, friendly and innovative care and support business known for its life-changing services is looking for a dedicated and target driven Income and Housing Officer who can maximise the organisation's rental income collection, effectively manage rent arrears and deal with other breaches of the occupancy agreement.

Managing a patch of 4 units across our services you will ensure that challenging rent collection targets are met but also that everything is done to avoid eviction. Your personal qualities are as important in this role as your work experience.

Working alongside Operational Colleagues, the Income and Housing Officer will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of generic Housing Management services across their patch with the main focus on Income Collection and some ASB management. You will be expected to meet tight KPI's increasing rent collection and carry out rent arrears actions at all stages from the initial warning letters to the eviction stage.

What you'll do:

* Take responsibility for maximising rent collection across a defined patch of Look Ahead's portfolio of properties ensuring that rent collection targets are met and tenancies sustained
* Advise operational teams on their support related arrears management activities, including holding local surgeries with tenants and staff, taking direct control of higher level and more complex arrears cases
* Proactively monitor all current and former accounts within the defined patch and make recommendations to the Contract Manager for appropriate former accounts to be written off or referred to Look Ahead's debt collection agency
* Ensure that the rent collection function is carried out both sensitively and in a timely fashion so as to avoid the build up of excessive arrears and record all case details accurately.
* Ensure that all sign ups within the defined patch are done accurately on the correct type of tenancy and at the correct rent and service charge levels.
* Prepare files and documents for legal action and present cases in County Court hearings for possession claims, money judgements

Corporate Partnership Officer

We seek an enthusiastic and motivational individual with a clear understanding of corporate lead generation and conversion to support the ambitious targets of the Partnerships Team within the Relationships Team of the Regional Fundraising team.

Position: CE356 Partnership Officer

Location: Home-based in Scotland. However, extensive travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings).

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

The Role

This is an exciting new role in a newly formed team, built to acquire strategic corporate partnerships and community connections by building strong networks and utilising your skills to influence and engage with supporters.

About You

You will manage Scotland where you will proactively canvas regional corporate and community organisation new business whilst successfully account managing partnerships.  Ideally, you will also have experience with national approaches and joint projects.

You will have a passion for fundraising and considerable experience of communicating effectively to a wide audience via a wide range of mediums, including but not limited to face to face, in writing, by email, on the telephone, via social media and public speaking. You will be driven to deliver excellent experiences for both colleagues and partners and in turn support significant income growth.

Livingstone House is a 24 hour staffed 92 bed mix gender hostel, which provides short term supported housing for single homeless vulnerable people with Low to Medium support needs. Look ahead provides the support function and Riverside provides the housing management and night concierge. The Service provides on average 5 hours of weekly support to customers who reside in the hostel with the aim to provide them with the tools to move on within the community and live independently. On occasions, we may need support within our scattered sites based in Brent.

The Shift pattern of this role consist of Shift pattern 8am -4pm and 1.30pm - 9pm. Over a 7 day rota with 2 days off with weekend working

Oaklands & St Kilda consists of two supported accommodation services, each providing six mental health rehabilitation units for young people aged 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health-related hospital admission. The aim is to support young people to gain and develop the necessary skills for independent living and to manage transitions from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult Mental Health Services.

Together, these services support up to 12 young people at any one time, offering a welcoming, supportive environment on a spot-purchase basis.

The successful candidate will deputise for the Service Manager when required. This includes direct line management, leadership, coaching, and supporting Specialist Support Workers, Support Workers, and Waking Night Support Workers. Background
The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated PhD student or postdoctoral researcher to engage with the RMetS’s Science Engagement activities and work with our team under a 2-year part-time Fellowship programme. Applicants are welcome from a variety of meteorological backgrounds, however this position will have a focus on the insurance sector.

The overarching purpose of the part-time Fellowship programme is to support the RMetS to deliver some of its strategic objectives through interdisciplinary activities and the communication of the science to a broad audience. Ongoing priorities for the Society include building engagement with the insurance and energy sectors, and improving support for youth and early career individuals who are considering, or currently working in, a career related to weather and climate.

Our part-time Fellowship programme is embedded across the Society, with the potential to influence ongoing activities and deliver new initiatives in events, partnerships and publishing, whilst supporting growth in membership and accreditation.

The RMetS is the UK’s Professional and Learned Society for weather and climate and its mission is to advance the understanding of weather and climate and its application for the benefit of all. The RMetS plays a key role as the custodian of both the science and the profession of meteorology in the UK and has an important role to play internationally as one of the world’s largest meteorological societies.

Role

To help steer and build the Society’s engagement with the insurance sector, an RMetS Insurance Special Interest Group (SIG) was formed in 2022. The Insurance SIG aims to sustain, encourage and progress engagement between meteorology and the insurance sectors, with expert members from both academia and industry.

The insurance Science Engagement Fellow has a key role in managing, developing and promoting the RMetS Insurance SIG and its deliverables to build the Society’s engagement with the insurance sector.

This exciting role enables the successful applicant to engage with non-academic stakeholders to build multidisciplinary partnerships, develop engagement skills and experiences, enhance their profile with stakeholders and leading academics, and grow their research impact. 

The position will work closely with the Science Engagement Committee, Science Engagement Manager and the other part-time Science Engagement Fellow on sector engagement initiatives, as well as other activities that are part of the RMetS’ Science Engagement Strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise and guidance to the Society on the UK insurance sector in relation to weather and climate. Identify the sector’s needs and how best RMetS can provide support now and in the future.
• Project manage and develop the RMetS Insurance SIG and its deliverables. This could involve producing and commissioning content such as blog posts, events, briefing papers and peer-reviewed journal content, for specialists and non-specialists, with guidance from SIG members.
• Proactively represent and promote the RMetS and the Insurance SIG at sector relevant events and meetings, whilst identifying new opportunities.
• Lead on programme development for the Insurance SIG’s annual autumn webinar , and the joint insurance/energy event with the RMetS Energy SIG in 2026.
• Support the RMetS partnerships team with new partnership opportunities within the insurance sector.
• Support the delivery of other science engagement activities within the Society’s Science Engagement Strategy, such as events, career resources and briefing papers.
• Work with and support the other part-time Science Engagement Fellows, including the Fellow responsible for the RMetS Energy SIG.  

Essential criteria you will need to demonstrate
The successful candidate will have:

• A good knowledge of the science of weather and climate, and its applications to the insurance sector, as well as a passion for the subject;
• Knowledge of the UK’s insurance sector and the role of key stakeholders;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience of meeting and working with people from a range of backgrounds and disciplines;
• Ability to communicate complex concepts in a way that is appropriate to the target audience;
• Confidence to represent the Insurance SIG at external meetings and events;
• Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to establish and manage simultaneous projects;

Climate change capacity building training Consultancy, Ghana

Background for project work

The Strengthening Civil Society Representation of Women with Disabilities in Ghana programme launched in May 2024, is a 2-year project funded by the European Union. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of two co-applicants in the areas of management, communication, fundraising, coordination, advocacy, gender, climate change, networking, and financial accountability.

Sightsavers will build the capacity of two co-applicants: Women with Disability Development and Advocacy Organisation (WODAO) and the Alliance for Better Advocacy and Knowledge (ABAK) Foundation. WODAO and the ABAK Foundation will subsequently cascade this capacity building to their members and partners, strengthening their ability to claim their rights and hold duty bearers accountable. The project also aims to establish collaborative partnerships with various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), including those that focus on women's rights, disabilities, and environmental/climate issues.

Sightsavers is inviting bids from environmental and climate change organizations to provide capacity-building training to the ABAK Foundation, WODAO, and their downstream partners (38 community-based organisations) in climate change and emergency preparedness.

Key responsibilities

The training should seek to achieve the following objectives

1. Help participants understand climate change, it’s causes, and its impact on communities and people especially persons with disabilities.
2. Equip participants with strategies to adapt to climate change related challenges.
3. Improve persons with disabilities awareness of available climate change adaptations and frameworks in Ghana and how they can benefit from them.
4. To strengthen persons with disabilities ability to advocate for inclusive climate change adaptation and policy making.
5. Provide guidance on creating inclusive disaster preparedness plan that consider the needs of persons with disabilities.
6. Teach the participants practical, disability friendly ways to contribute to environmental sustainability in daily life.
7. Equip participants with skills to mainstream climate adaptation into their programmes.
8. Help participants to understand key findings from the climate change analysis report that relate to their project districts and how they can respond to them.

The work will commence in April 2025 and conclude in June 2025.

Consultancy expertise

• Successful track record in the provision of capacity building training tied to climate change
• Experience facilitating training with potentially vulnerable populations
• Understanding of disability and mental health (desirable)
• Evidence of skills, experience, and knowledge in climate change (essential) and disability inclusion (desirable).
• Experience in capacity building and stakeholder engagement.
• Track record of leading environmental or climate change actions with examples of reports if available.
• Proven experience working as an external facilitator(s) for international organizations, the private sector, and/or national development organizations.
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. Fluency in local languages desirable.
• Resident in Ghana  desirable although not compulsory

The agreed budget will be discussed at interview.

Consultancies with a proven track record in the above will be procured to undertake the project through an expression of interest process.

Position: S11261 Stroke Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based, Bedford, However frequent travel will be required as part of this role (to include team meetings or other work-related meetings).

Hours: Part-time, 28 hours per week

Salary: £21,391 per annum (FTE £26,700 per annum)

Contract: This is a fixed term contract until 31 March 2026. Our services are contracted, we currently have funding for this contract until 31 March 2026.

The Role

Reporting to the Service Delivery Coach in the East of England, you will have the ability to support stroke survivors to identify their goals. Using strong assessment skills and a person-centred approach enabling them to maximise their recovery and improve communication.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.

• Supporting a diverse caseload including anyone experiencing communication difficulties via a combination of face-to-face visits or meetings, telephone calls, emails or letters, and digital methods (such as video calls)

• Providing personalised information, advice and support. 

• Enabling stroke survivors to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes.

• Working with other health and social care professionals across the stroke pathway to ensure high quality support.

About You

You will have experience in:

• Experience/ background in a caring profession, ideally supporting people with disabilities

• Excellent IT skills and an ability to maintain accurate records.

• An affinity with the values of the Stroke Association.

• A flexible approach and an ability to effectively manage a caseload.

This role requires extensive travel across a large geographical locality to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role.
