We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraising Manager to join our small and dynamic but expanding fundraising and communications team during an exciting period of growth for the organisation. This newly created role will be crucial role in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support our mission and ensure the financial sustainability of the Charity. It will include identifying new funding opportunities as well as producing several initiatives including building on our grant income success.

The Baobab Centre is a non-residential therapeutic community that supports young asylum seekers and refugees who have experienced human rights abuses and have sought asylum in the UK as unaccompanied minors. Our two focus areas are rehabilitation and justice.

This is a unique opportunity for a passionate and experienced fundraiser to progress further in their career, with the freedom to creatively enhance and develop the fundraising strategy of an impactful community-based charity.

As Senior Fundraising Lead you will be Baobab’s key fundraiser and a self-starter with experience of working in a small or medium sized charity. You will lead on the development of fundraising at Baobab, exploring new avenues for funding, as well as nurturing and growing existing fundraising relationships. You will be responsible for strategising and carrying out a successful program of fundraising from small, medium and large charitable trusts and foundations to an agreed annual fundraising target. You will also assist in delivering Baobab’s individual major donor programme, helping to set up and deliver communications and events related to this income stream. This role is for 4 or 5 days per week depending on your preference, it will include Fridays which is when staff meetings are held.

Mental Health:  All of the young people Baobab supports suffer significant mental health and developmental difficulties and many function in an unstable and more immature way than their chronological age. Due to their experiences it takes time to gain trust from the young people in our community. As a core member of our team, you will understand the impact of specific human rights abuses on the development of children and young people in exile and their individual experiences of loss, trauma and grief on their mental health and well-being.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to play a pivotal role in delivering change for the 4.3 million children growing up in poverty. You will have a demonstrable track record in securing six figure and multi annual grants primarily from trusts, foundations and/or the National Lottery.

You will have the ability to work confidently as a creative and analytical problem solver, and a hands-on fundraiser. CPAG’s fundraised income has grown significantly, and the team raises nearly £3 million annually.

You will be responsible for managing all aspects of fundraising income generation, and leading and supporting a small fundraising team. You will be able to build and nurture relationships with funders, donors and other stakeholders, and have excellent communication skills.

The Helen Bamber Foundation (HBF) is a specialist clinical and human rights charity that works with people seeking asylum and refugees who are Survivors of trafficking, torture and other forms of extreme human cruelty. Asylum Aid (AA) is a legal charity dedicated to protecting people from persecution by providing legal representation and access to justice for refugees and people seeking asylum. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE 

This exciting role will support on the delivery of income from a range of high-value donors within our philanthropy and corporate income streams. This position is key for both Helen Bamber Foundation and Asylum Aid and the postholder will work closely with the teams’ senior leadership, enabling the Head of Fundraising and Communications and the Executive Director to build successful funding partnerships.

The Corporate and Philanthropy Executive will be an effective communicator with a flair for writing, results-focused and well-organised. This role best suits someone who is eager to learn and work as part of a tight-knit and successful team, and who can respond creatively and consistently to our current and future donors’ requests.

The candidate will preferably have some experience working or volunteering in the charity sector, and we welcome applications from candidates with transferrable experience, such as working in a client-facing role, in a communications position, copywriting or in event-planning.

As Corporate and Philanthropy Executive, you will be reporting to the Head of Fundraising and Communications and will have an allocation of your time dedicated to directly supporting the Executive Director of Fundraising and Communications to achieve ambitious but realistic team income targets.

Direct Marketing and Fundraising Officer

The role has been designed to support the Direct Marketing Manager [Acquisition]  in managing and developing internal systems, coordinating projects, and providing essential administrative support to the team.

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Direct Marketing and Fundraising Officer to join our Public Fundraising team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our fundraising activities, particularly during appeals, where your coordination skills will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

Appeal Coordination:

• Assist the Direct Marketing Manager - Acquisition in keeping member agency fundraising directors and key suppliers up to date in the run-up to and during appeals.
• Update the fundraising and marketing team budget tracker, ensuring accurate financial tracking throughout the appeal process.
• Support the setup and management of Appeal Toolkits and Appeal Hubs, providing essential assets to staff, member agencies, and suppliers.
• Assist with the coordination and delivery of creative projects across all direct marketing channels, ensuring timely and effective execution.
• Work with the team to gather and report appeal results, providing updates to the Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Executive Team, and CEO’s office.

 Ongoing Responsibilities:

• Organize and manage review meetings with suppliers’ post-appeal, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
• Monitor and update core and appeal budgets, processing invoices and ensuring financial accuracy.
• Support the Director of Fundraising and Marketing in organizing and managing the Fundraising Director’s Group meetings, including diary coordination, preparing presentations, and taking minutes.
• Provide general administrative support to the Fundraising and Marketing team, including setting up monthly team meetings, organizing agendas, and coordinating away days.

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Proven experience in project coordination and administrative support, ideally within a fundraising or marketing environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience with budget tracking and financial processes.
• A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work well within a team.

During an appeal, you will be contractually obliged to be in the office for 2 weeks, which are likley to include working during the weekend.
