Job Purpose

IRRI has given a high priority to growing our work and impact in Africa. The Regional Director will be responsible for providing strategic and practical insights and follow-through to position and grow IRRI in Africa. The Director will ensure a strong reputation for IRRI in relation to our capability to bring big solutions to issues critical for Africa like rural poverty, resilience and sustainability, nutrition/health and national economic advancements. 

The Director will lead the development and implementation of an overall Africa strategy as well as country strategies for IRRI's research needs, outreach, capacity strengthening, partnerships and resource mobilization. This will include identification and development of project opportunities, focusing on key contributions IRRI can make to develop the agriculture and food system in target countries in the region.

The Director will represent IRRI's interests before governments in Africa and liaise closely with relevant government offices and agencies. Act as one of the chief spokespersons for IRRI in Africa and interact with a wide range of national and international partners and donors to seek new opportunities for research and partnerships, including fundraising, private and public-private sector partnerships.

The Director will also advise IRRI management and scientists on regional and national developments, emerging issues for research, new opportunities for funding, and appropriate policies and procedures for working and traveling in the region. Manage IRRI's relations with CGIAR centers, other international organizations and development agencies operating in the region.

This position will be based at the IRRI Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya and is open for international applications.

Roles and Responsibilities

• To position IRRI and its reputation as a major contributor to critical issues in Africa
• To significantly grow IRRI in Africa to better achieve our mission to impact on rural poverty, climate resilience, the environmental sustainability and nutrition/health
• Lead the development and implementation of an overall Africa strategy as well as country strategies for IRRI's research needs, outreach, capacity strengthening, partnerships and resource mobilization. • Act as the chief spokesperson for IRRI in the region and at international forums with interest in research and development in Africa
• Interact with national and international partners and donors to seek new opportunities for research and partnerships, including fundraising, coordination and engagement with both public and private sector
• Build and maintain a strong and healthy working relation for IRRI with other CGIAR centers, international organizations and development agencies operating in the region
• Create and sustain positive relationships with traditional and non-traditional donors, local missions and development agencies to ensure continued support of IRRI's research and outreach activities in the region
• Coordinate regional and national projects in a manner aligned with IRRI's strategic plan and embedded in IRRI's research areas to ensure synergy and coherence
• Identify and prioritize opportunities to develop IRRI’s programs and activities in Africa
• Provide necessary advice for IRRI management and scientists on regional and national developments, emerging issues for research, new opportunities for funding and appropriate policies and procedures necessary for current and future strategic work in Africa
• Coordinate efforts and resources to build the funding and partnership base to grow IRRI in Africa
• In coordination with the HQ, oversee the management of IRRI offices, finances and human resources in the region

Qualifications

• PhD in agricultural sciences, rural sociology, development economics or related field
• Over 15 years of relevant experience in research, leadership and outreach activities

Skills Required

• Experience in developing large research for development projects
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary team
• Track record of managing multi-country research for development programs
• Record of high-quality publications
• Prior experience of leadership, partnerships, mentoring and team building

The role

We are seeking a Program Director who can complement the existing team by virtue of his or her experience in labour market economics, value chain transformation, and/or the prioritization of public-sector investment in critical economic sectors.

Program Directors work with their government counterparts to design and support implementation of transformative programs, and many of their government counterparts are prioritizing youth employment.

Program Directors are accountable to the CEO and are responsible for ensuring quality execution of programs; strengthening routine monitoring systems; leading evidence-based decision-making; and driving highly leveraged outcomes. Each Program Director will work on a variety of matters related to human capital development and contribute to programs in different African geographies.

Experience

To be successful you will need extensive experience with complex and large-scale program ideation and implementation, related to labour market interventions, value chain transformation, and public-sector investment, ideally in Sub-Saharan African countries.

You will have a good understanding of how governmental departments work (ideally with direct experience working within government) and have had significant interactions at high policy levels within governments, with proven experience in managing complex and politically sensitive relationships with different stakeholders. You will support the ambition of policy champions at national level.

Able to demonstrate methodical program oversight and management, you will need an exemplary work ethic with a drive for achieving concrete results from often complex environments. 

Knowledge wise we are looking for strong understanding of labour markets and development economics; excellent data analysis skills; project finance/private sector experience could be advantageous.

This role will suit someone who is used to working at the most senior levels and brings excellent people skills and highly developed communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills. Fluency in French and/or widely spoken African languages is desirable

Location: Central Services Office in Marlow

This is a newly created role which is being introduced to support the centralisation and future growth of the Trust. This hands-on role will be responsible for preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring all transactions and month-end processes are carried out, preparation of balance sheet, capital projects and fixed assets reconciliations , line management of finance officers and assistants, as well as oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable and VAT returns. You will be involved in cash flow forecasting, treasury/banking processes, budgeting/forecasting process, monthly reporting, variance analysis and more. You will support the CFO and the Business Manager, and work closely with all schools’ leadership teams and Headteachers. 

The successful candidate will have previous financial experience and recognised accounting qualification, ideally in a school environment, and will be flexible and able to demonstrate an ability to adapt to a changing environment. You will be professional in your approach to all aspects of the role, extremely well organised, a team player and competent with accounting and procurement software, MsOffice and Google Suites.

· Interact regularly with Programs, Finance, and MEAL staff across all countries to ensure accurate and consistent messaging and data in OneSky funding pitches, proposals and reports.

· Oversee the Director of Partnerships and collaborate to grow an extensive pipeline of prospective foundation and corporate funders.

· Oversee the Grants Manager to develop and submit competitive and compelling proposals, reports, budgets, and supporting materials by their due dates.

· Oversee the Grant Manager in utilising the grant management system in salesforce, ensuring grant reporting and monitoring schedules are maintained.

· Represent the organization at conferences and events as requested.

· Undertake any additional duties that may, from time to time, be necessary and compatible with the nature of this role.

Job requirements:

· Bachelor's Degree in a related field

· Over 10 years’ experience in generating income from individual, trust, foundations, and corporate partnerships 

· Proven success in fundraising planning and implementation to secure high-level corporate and foundation giving to meet annual funding goals

· Excellent communication and relationship building skills

· Comfort working across multiple cultures and travelling

· Fluency in English, and proficiency in Chinese is an asset

Dandelion Time’s pioneering nature-based therapy seeks to rebuild the confidence and self-belief of children and families impacted by trauma, enabling them to take the necessary steps to move forward.  To support our expansion across Kent, we have an exciting opportunity to join our close knit and hugely supportive team as the Bid Manager.  We have just launched our five-year plan and need an experienced, confident and collaborative individual who will be able to hit the ground running.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and supported by an experienced part-time Bid Writer you will be lead on the development and implementation of the income generation strategy for bids, primarily from Trusts and Foundations. Your focus will be to identify a diverse range of high value opportunities to build a pipeline of sustainable income.

To excel in this role you will demonstrate significant experience of researching and writing detailed and compelling proposals for trusts.  You will have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding income targets, securing one-off or multi-year grants of five-figure sums or above and multi-year funding.  

Your excellent communication skills will enable you to cultivate and manage relationships with key decision-makers, including the day-to-day management of both new and existing funders.

Systems Accountant - Unit4 | Permanent | £65,000 - £69,000 + Benefits | London / Hybrid

For one of the most loved animal charities in the UK, we are recruiting a Systems Accountant to develop and optimise their financial systems and improve financial and non-finance reporting though Unit4. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role will ensure the Unit4 system is robust, and will enhance the value of financial data, providing insights to support the accounting function and overall systems and management tools used to inform the organisation. This will be a key role in connecting Finance and IT functions, and the delivery of any finance system changes and enhancements to Unit4.

Main Duties:

• Lead the development of UnitT 4 ERPx and ensure the integration of extensions (e.g., Salesforce)
• Act as systems administration workstream lead of Unit4 ERPx, including 3^rd party software
• Manage all incidents and process requests and ensure SLAs are maintained
• Act is the Unit4 Super-User
• Define learning and training needs for all end-users and drive best practice
• Maintain documentation of the financial system procedures, workflows and controls

Corporate Treasurer | UK Hybrid Working | 3 - 6 months | £800 - £950 per day (Inside IR35)

For a large, complex international organisation, we're recruiting an Interim Corporate Treasurer. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Corporate Treasurer is a leadership role managing all aspects of treasury policy, processes, controls, analysis, and investment strategy. This role will also lead on cash management, financing and investment activities, internal controls, risk management and loss prevention. This is the primary treasury specialist in the organisation and will provide expert advice to support strategic objectives, whilst leading and motivating the Treasury Team.

Main Duties:

• Lead and motivate the Treasury Team, building capacity in the wider finance team
• Develop strategic partnerships with banks and other financial organisations to deliver Treasury policy, investment strategies and business objectives
• Identify opportunities to deliver better business models to impact on global ability to deliver statutory reporting obligations, operating models in-country, banking and repatriation of funds including liquidity analysis and management, cash forecasting and debt facilities
• Partner with Regional Finance Directors to optimise cash-flows, manage cash investments / liquidity including e-commerce and mobile banking, bonds, guarantees and bank KYC management.
• Develop treasury expertise and processes across the global finance teams
• Oversee all banking platforms and processes including the pan European zero balancing cash pool.
• Partner with global finance operations (Shared Services, Regional Finance Directors) to avoid trapped cash
• Manage foreign currency liquidity requirements
• Develop and recommend Treasury Management Policy and Controls and compliance and the implementation of Treasury strategy including foreign currency management
• Develop and lead long-term investment strategy

Person Specification:

• Fellow ACA, CIMA, ACCA or ACT with proven Head of Treasury or Principal Treasurer experience from a global, matrix structured organisation
