The Person

The Role
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our finance team on a 12 month fixed-term contract, working 3 days per week. £42,000 - £45,000 FTE, (£25,200 - £27,000 pro rata)
You will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, producing statutory financial reports, and supporting a variety of finance projects aimed at improving processes and controls. This is a hands-on role, requiring a strong knowledge of charity accounting standards (SORP, FRS102) and advanced Excel skills.
Key Requirements:
- Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
- Charity Accounting Knowledge: Experience with Charity SORP and FRS102 regulations
- Advanced Excel Skills: Expertise in pivot tables, formulas, and financial modelling

Health & Wellbeing:
Hear4You is a listening service set up to support people in the community who are struggling emotionally. We receive referrals from our local GP surgery and people are matched with a volunteer listener for up to twelve 1-2-1 sessions.
We also run an emergency foodbank twice a week in partnership with CEF , and are in the process of setting up a pantry in partnership with Mercy in Action to support 25 struggling families with ongoing food poverty support. This will be delivered by volunteers but will need general oversight from you.

Youth:

As SRO you will help parishes and deaneries respond to the social needs in their community. This will focus particularly on the effective use of the Lowest Income Communities Fund, and other resources, to make a real difference to people’s lives.
Much of this work will involve working alongside volunteers and clergy in parishes to identify local need and the appropriate responses to help meet this need; supporting them to develop projects including measures of success. The role is also about promoting the prophetic call to serve those in need; building networks and trusting relationships across the Diocese; and acting as a persistent advocate and champion within, and beyond the Diocese, for those at the margins of society.
You will have significant experience of working with vulnerable people and doing so in in partnership with a range of stakeholders. Being able to manage multiple projects, including budgets; build the capacity of others and be effective and proactive in communicating are all key. An understanding, and appreciation of, God’s call to serve the poor is essential as is being comfortable in talking about Christian faith and theology.

About the Role

Purpose of the role
Tech Angels (previously Tech to Community Connect) is a service which aims to reduce digital exclusion across Surrey. In recent years, and particularly now in a post-pandemic society, so much connection happens digitally; those without the knowledge or equipment to connect to the internet are at a very high risk of loneliness and isolation, which have a significant negative impact on physical and mental health.
To combat this, we provide devices on long term loan to people who are disabled or living with a health condition, family carers, of older age, or to those with another vulnerability. We also offer a ‘match’ with one of our team of volunteer Tech Angels, to help with digital literacy and confidence. We also supply sim cards with data to those, who don’t have wi-fi, so that they can be connected.
The purpose of the role will be to drive and coordinate referrals into and through the service, making sure that people facing digital exclusion get the support they need to get (and stay) connected. Ultimately the outcomes we are focused on achieving are a reduction in health inequality and an increase in wellbeing.
Main responsibilities
1. Coordination of Tech to Community Connect activity in a defined part of Surrey
2. Communication with people using the service, carers, volunteers, organisations that may have referred to the service and other stakeholders
3. Database management, record keeping and impact measurement following all data security policies
4. On-going support for people using the service who are in a ‘match’ with a volunteer Tech Angel, those waiting for a ‘match’ or those who are accessing another part of the service

It is essential that you have:

Purpose of the role
The purpose of the role is to enable more Disabled people and carers to use technology in their daily lives to aid wellbeing and independence.
You will provide engaging one-to-one and group training to people who are digitally excluded, mostly in their own homes.
Main tasks
1. You will plan and conduct face to face, one-to-one (or group where required) training sessions with tech members – you will teach them how to use tablets and other devices, how to stay safe online, how to access services or do shopping online, or just help them get more confident in using technology – no two training sessions will be the same!
2. You will write reports from your visits, and will closely collaborate with volunteer coordination team
3. You will actively seek out tech members who may be willing to share their stories as case studies, and you will write up the case studies
Person specification
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively in with a variety of audiences

· Good level of computer literacy including all Microsoft packages
· The ability and willingness to travel around Surrey to deliver face to face training in homes (daily)
· The ability and willingness to travel to the main office base in Burpham (when needed)

· The ability to work safely from home and willingness to do so, or the ability to work from our office base in Burpham
· Live within Surrey or NE Hants, however ideally in East Surrey

The Role
The CEO will be accountable to the Board of Trustees for the overall strategic management, leadership, and development of BCD and achievement of the overall strategic objectives. Duties will include:
- Implementing and delivering the strategic plan and reporting on implementation, risk, and changes to the plan.
- Representing BCD as an active member of the Leeds Domestic Violence Service (LDVS) strategic group and support the LDVS operational management team.
- Overseeing complex projects and their successful delivery to time and target.
- Taking overall responsibility for the recruitment, management, supervision, training and development of all staff and volunteers.
- Leading on the overall fundraising strategy, identifying growth targets and quarterly income projections and leading on the appropriate use of reserves.

- A demonstrable track record of working in a senior strategic leadership role

- Strong and clear communication skills and a competence with public speaking, along with an ability to deliver messages to a variety of audiences
