The Role
Oversee the delivery of an established IG programme of £1.2m pa, managing a team of two.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Grants Manager to lead and expand our income from trusts, foundations, and grantmakers. This role is pivotal for advancing our mission and will involve developing and managing a portfolio of restricted donors, researching new funding opportunities, and crafting compelling proposals. While the focus is on trusts and foundations, experience with corporate and institutional funding is desirable. You will collaborate closely with the Director, finance team, and project managers to shape competitive, impactful funding proposals and work in parallel with the Supporter Engagement Manager to develop and implement a fundraising strategy that aligns with the organisation’s overall fundraising goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Donor Management: Take primary responsibility for a portfolio of existing trust donors, providing consistent stewardship and relationship management to ensure ongoing support, including both lower-value and potential high-impact donors.
• Research and Strategy: Conduct targeted research on new trust and foundation prospects, Co-develop a fundraising strategy and plans to approach and engage them based on donor capacity and interest.
• Database Management: Work with internal stakeholders to streamline the donor database for efficient tracking and reporting, ensuring accurate documentation of all interactions, proposals, and updates.
• Collaborative Communication: Partner with colleagues in Communications, Public Fundraising, and Individual Giving to coordinate donor communications for specific appeals or program updates, aligning messaging to enhance engagement.
• Proposal Development: Coordinate with project managers and the Director to prepare timely and impactful funding proposals tailored to trust and foundation requirements, leveraging program data and impact narratives.
• Financial Oversight: Oversee budget tracking and financial reporting for trust and foundation grants, ensuring accurate fund allocation, compliance with donor requirements, and timely submission of financial reports.
• Income Targets: Take an active role in meeting and exceeding annual income targets by developing strategies to maximise trust and foundation funding, regularly assessing progress and reporting to senior management.
• Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of donor interactions, grants, and proposals within the organisation’s database, ensuring compliance with data protection standards.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated success in securing restricted funding grants, with a focus on trusts and foundations in the healthcare or international development sectors (desirable but not required).
• Proven track record of managing a portfolio of funders, developing successful proposals, and coordinating across teams to meet ambitious income targets.
• Ability to conceptualise and craft clear, compelling proposals that effectively communicate our impact and program needs.
• Collaborative and approachable style, with the ability to cultivate relationships at all levels and provide clear, concise communication.
• Experience managing systems and processes, including CRM/GRM systems (such as Donorfy), and strong reporting skills.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in managing grant budgets and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and donor regulations.
• Skilled in scrutinising financial reports and liaising with project and finance teams to track expenditures and maintain accountability.
• Experience managing donor compliance for a range of donors with varying requirements.
• A passion for healthcare development and international development, with an understanding of trends in the sector.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Research engagement strategy

· Develop and implement a comprehensive research communications and engagement strategy to build our relationship and position with the UK dementia research community.

· Lead on the redevelopment of the researcher-facing website structure, pages and content, to ensure that information about ARUK, funding opportunities, and our strategic programmes are communicated in an engaging way to the dementia research community

· Work with the Senior Science Communications Officer to ensure all researcher-facing materials meet comms best-practice and wider comms plans are developed and supported for launch

· Support the Senior Science Communications officer to deliver research-related public-facing web pages and trade press 

Conference and key research programmes

· Lead on the cross-organisational researcher-facing communications activities for the ARUK Conference, supporting the Senior Science Communications Officer to develop and deliver a media and PR plan.

· Support the Senior Research Manager to develop an engaging scientific programme for the conference, using insights and knowledge from the dementia community

· Support the cross-organisational Conference steering group to deliver and communicate development plans and related events.

What we are looking for:

· A degree in relevant biomedical science or equivalent experience

· Experience of working in a research environment and an excellent understanding of the experiences and needs of researchers.

Job description

Summary

To manage the development of LE’s Aftercare programme to ensure its successful delivery against a range of desired outcomes for individuals, communities and our organisation. Our Aftercare programme is for adults, children and young people who have received Counselling from Listening Ear to help them cope with bereavement, separation & loss, domestic abuse and/or stress & anxiety. Our Aftercare beneficiaries benefit from ongoing support in a group context with support from experienced Counsellors. We run a number of Aftercare groups, all at different stages of development, and have recently been awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for a period of just over four years. This will enable us to develop, evaluate and embed a more consistent Aftercare approach that is informed by our beneficiaries.

We are looking for an experienced Projects & Partnerships Manager, with a passion for providing effective services for people of all ages who face challenges with their mental health. You will work with our amazing team of Counsellors (who deliver the Aftercare groups) and with Aftercare beneficiaries and potential beneficiaries to plan, manage and evaluate an ongoing Aftercare programme, including positive activities. You will be responsible for managing a project budget of up to £30,000 per annum.

Job Purpose

• To gain a full understanding of the needs and interests of Aftercare beneficiaries (and potential beneficiaries) through regular consultation using a variety of methods.
• To work with our Aftercare delivery team to design a programme of positive activities that will help beneficiaries connect, take notice, keep learning, stay active and give (The Five Ways to Wellbeing). The programme will be informed by regular consultation with beneficiaries and will be delivered online and face to face dependent on the group.
• To research and identify appropriate external activity providers, supporting them to deliver high quality experiences that achieve outcomes against the Five Ways to Wellbeing and are safe, inclusive and appropriately resourced within budget.
• To ensure that all external providers, activities, venues and equipment are risk assessed and that appropriate mitigations are in place to manage and minimise risk.

• To ensure that all required materials and resources are purchased and posted to participants in advance of online activity sessions.
• To ensure that all Aftercare opportunities are communicated to potential beneficiaries in a timely and effective manner, maximising engagement and attendance through supportive reminders.
• To directly support the delivery of face-to-face Emotional Youth Club sessions, which take place on one Saturday of every month, usually in the Knowsley or St Helens areas, always involving a positive activity. You will do this alongside a team of two trained Counsellors and the selected Activity Provider.
• To work with colleagues in Operations to ensure the right systems are in place to monitor and evaluate our desired outputs and outcomes, using a CRM system (Lamplight) for which training will be provided.
• To ensure that Aftercare delivery staff understand and are fully recording the required monitoring and evaluation information.
• To convene a regular (monthly and later quarterly) Aftercare Project Team involving staff of LE, circulating agendas, distributing notes and actions and supporting their input as required.
• To communicate about the project internally, ensuring a high level of awareness of its benefits and working with Counsellor colleagues to ensure referrals to Aftercare groups increase and are consistent.

• Contribute to the vision, strategic planning and relevant policy development, for LE and actively participate as a member of the management team, supporting and working closely with the SMT.
• To work collaboratively with other Project and Partnership Leads within Listening Ear.
• To contribute significantly to biannual project reports for the National Lottery Community Fund, and quarterly Commissioner reports working with the Development Manager.
• To attend meetings with funders/Commissioners as required to give progress updates.
• To complete all administrative tasks relevant to the post.
• To manage the project budget, with support from the Finance and Development Teams.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a Manchester Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to children facing disadvantage communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base, but who is also able to travel frequently around the Greater Manchester area to visit schools.The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year. The weekly hours for this role (currently 12-14 p/week) are likely to increase in future.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team

The Grants Manager will maintain strong oversight of the DEC funded programme including the reporting cycle, adaptive programming and facilitate strong and relevant engagement with DEC member charities and local partners and external briefings over the duration of the response.

Key responsibilities:

Communication and Collaboration

• Key programmes point of contact regarding the DEC funded programme, responding to enquiries from member charity programmes and other related staff, facilitating timely and accurate communication.
• Maintain strong understanding of response context.
• Manage and provide timely, response briefings to internal and external audiences, key stakeholders including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office [FCDO] and, other key stakeholders.

Analysis and Reporting

• Review, evaluate, and advise on member charity plans and reports for consistency, trends analysis and coherence of data across submitted documentation.
• Contribute to the review and analysis of plans and reports submitted by member charities in response to DEC appeals.
• Share timely and relevant information and analysis from plans and reports with DEC member charities and local partners. 
• Manage external reporting requirements including preparation of stakeholder reports and infographics.

Management and Leadership

• Coordinate the team’s surge capacity to deliver points above, which may involve managing and inducting a team of external consultants and training them in the use of our knowledge management system [Box].
• Coordinate with the Programme Quality, Accountability & Learning team to ensure monitoring, learning and accountability initiatives are timely and appropriate to the response.
• Support with real-time reviews, community perception studies and other related MEAL activities.

Prostate Cancer Research exists to honour the men and families who have been through things no family should have to go through, and to work for a future where no one needs to fear a prostate cancer diagnosis. 

We are always working to provide resources to help, support and empower patients. Giving them the information they need to make better choices about their treatment, while working to identify and target specific unmet needs in the prostate cancer ecosystem, such as racial inequality and bone metastasis.

Our dedicated staff team is the key to our success, expanding the amount of research that we fund five times over in four years. PCR has been shortlisted for an Impact Prize and won the Change Project of the year award in 2023. 

It’s been a successful couple of years for PCR’s Events & Community team with good results across the portfolio, raising over £1.4m (against a target of £800k) in 2023-24. Now’s an exciting time as we’ve recently expanded the team, whilst refreshing our structure and roles to make priorities clear and ensure the whole team can do their best work – contributing to PCR’s lifesaving mission, developing in their careers and enjoying their jobs within our ambitious and supportive team. 

We are now recruiting for a new Events & Community Executive to join the frontline of our fundraising stewardship, so strong relationship-building skills and a love of creating great supporter experiences are essential. A big part of this role is project managing PCR’s fundraising activities, including virtual and third-party challenges. Key Responsibilities

Event management and delivery  

• Lead the delivery of the fundraising activities you are working on, keeping an eye on objectives, budgets and the bigger picture to ensure that opportunities to improve and maximise fundraising are seized. 

• Create and follow action plans for your projects, taking responsibility for processes and delivery of tasks on time. 

• Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and third-party organisations.

• Ensure all fundraising activities promote PCR’s brand and have a strong connection to people with prostate cancer. 

• With the support of the team, analyse results based on KPIs & feedback, and proactively suggest changes & improvements. 

Stewardship 

• Lead on delivering PCR’s supporter journeys for your projects, providing a high level of stewardship with an understanding of the connection between engagement and the income & awareness raised for PCR. 

• Lead on relationship management as required for the fundraising activities you are working on. 

• Carry out regular stewardship tasks including content delivery, the management of stewardship tools (e.g. Mailchimp, GivePanel & Kudosity) and responding to supporter queries via all channels. Plenty of training on tools will be provided! 

• Collaborate with the team on the upkeep of supporter journeys, using feedback & data to spot opportunities for constant improvement of fundraisers’ experience with PCR and motivating them to raise more and remain loyal supporters. 

Marketing and Recruitment  

• Work with the Events team managers and external marketing consultants to create effective marketing plans and lead on their implementation, making best efforts to hit acquisition targets for the fundraising activities you are working on. 

• Create & deliver marketing plans and assets which are tailored by a good understanding of our existing & target audiences. 

• With the support of team managers, track and analyse marketing performance to proactively suggest improvements. 

Administration and Database  

• Manage stock fulfilment, sending merchandise to supporters and replenishing materials as required, ensuring high quality, good value and an appropriate & creative application of PCR’s brand. 

• Carry out participant data processing, income processing and budget management tasks as required, including coding, database administration, paying invoices and tracking income & expenditure in logs. 

• Ensure your fundraising activities are delivered in line with fundraising law & regulations and PCR’s policies.

• Take an active role in training & webinars to improve your knowledge of the database and compliance requirements.

Strategy and Development 

• Always have an eye on new opportunities and ideas to inject into your projects, taking a test & learn approach. 

• Contribute to team strategy and budgeting work, working with Events team managers to create exciting plans.

• Lead on relevant projects to improve the Events team’s infrastructure, stewardship, content, processes & compliance.

• Track and report progress on fundraising campaigns and events, providing analysis on key performance indicators and revenue projections.
• Work with the communications team to create compelling materials for donor outreach, event promotion, presentations, and corporate engagement.
• Secure grant funding through research, proposal development, and managing the grant application process.

Donation Administration and CRM Management (~20%)

• Manage the CRM system, ensuring donor and partner data is accurate, up-to-date, and effectively utilised for engagement and reporting.
• Partner with the Operations team to ensure all donations, invoices and tracking is completed in a timely manner with follow up to donors as required. 
• Oversee donor reporting, generating data insights and analytics to inform future strategies and donor retention efforts.
• Manage reconciliation processes and ensure development data and financial data are in alignment.
• Collaborate with the team on CRM system training and improvements and support data migration if necessary.

General Administration and Team Support (~10%)

• Provide administrative support to the Partnerships and Development team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing materials for donor presentations.
• Assist with special projects and additional fundraising and partnership tasks as needed.

What skills we’re looking for:

· Experience in fundraising, donor management, or business development, with proven success in partnership building and substantial (ideally 6-7 figure) revenue generation.

· Ideally, Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Nonprofit Management, Business Development, Marketing, or related field.

· Superior communication and writing skills, with the ability to edit text written by others and generate new text; experience in crafting compelling pitches and proposals.

· High proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce) and data management (experience with donor databases preferred).

· Strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines and use project management software (Notion) to plan and track projects and work collaboratively across teams.

· Experience with grant management, writing and corporate engagement strategies.

· Experience with financial reporting and analysis in Excel/Google Suite.

· Strong understanding of sustainability issues, trends and the philanthropy sector, with a track record of aligning donor objectives with environmental and social responsibility.

· Experience working internationally and collaborating with people in diverse cultural and political contexts preferred.

· Ability to work independently and remotely in a dynamic and fast paced team environment.

 · Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, corporate partners, and foundations, ensuring long-term engagement and revenue growth.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Project Assistant to support INQUEST’s National Lottery Heritage Fund project, Unlocking the INQUEST archive: memorialising death and resistance. This project encourages engagement with the INQUEST archive and memorialises state-related death and resistance through creative outputs including: 12-month consultation, artist’s residency, banner making, small scale events, archival research, film screenings and a podcast series.

Organised, motivated by logistics, system-orientated, able to react efficiently to pressure, change and multitasking, the ideal candidate will possess outstanding communications skills necessary to liaising with a varied audience, including bereaved families and other key project stakeholders. They will be experienced in handling telephone calls, email correspondence, administration systems, and key IT software packages. Working closely with the project manager and project staff, they will support all components of our heritage project, including organising events and travel, liaising with key stakeholders, project social media and general administration.
