Job description

Smart Works is a dynamic, high profile and fast-growing UK charity that dresses, coaches and empowers unemployed women for success at their job interview. After visiting Smart Works, 63% of clients secure a job within a month.

The Smart Works service is currently delivered in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Reading and Leeds, with a new centre in Bristol due to open in 2025. Over the past eleven years, Smart Works has helped over 40,000 women. It is our mission that any woman who needs our service should be able to find her way to a Smart Works centre.

Smart Works recently reached a key strategic milestone, supporting over 10,000 women in a year, with a 30% uplift in engagement with our Interview Dressing & Preparation service and 49% uplift achieved for Career Coaching. Having just reached the end of our Three-Year Plan, we are now consulting on our new strategic plan. This is an incredibly timely and exciting time to join the organisation, as we look towards the future.

About the Role

As Data & Digital Operations Manager at Smart Works, you will play a pivotal role in managing the charity’s digital infrastructure and working as part of a team to ensure that the organisation is able to measure its impact, and that digital operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will oversee IT systems, digital platforms, and cybersecurity measures, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation, and playing a crucial role in Smart Works’ next steps in digitising our service.

The role requires someone who is confident using data and digital platforms, who can apply them with a hands-on approach. The ideal candidate will balance day-to-day digital infrastructure administration with the management of relationships with external IT providers, and digital tools such as databases and online referral forms. You will also take ownership of Smart Works' internal staff platform, implementing upgrades and training staff where necessary.

You will take a leading role in managing the digital infrastructure associated with the client service, including overseeing contracts with external providers, and making amendments to Dynamics CRM. You will be responsible for actioning local centre queries and change requests to maintain consistent, high-quality digital operations.

In addition, you will work closely with the Head of Data & Impact on ad hoc data and analysis requests across functions, helping to inform strategic decision-making across all Smart Works centres, as well as to ensure the organisation remains fully compliant with GDPR regulations, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining robust data protection practices.

How to Apply

Please head to our website to read the full job description and then please submit a CV and a cover letter which answers the following questions by midnight on Wednesday 30th April 2025.

  • Why do you want to work for Smart Works? (Max 200 words)
  • What experience do you have of working with data and / or digital infrastructure? (Max 350 words)
  • Why do you think you are well suited to the role of Data & Digital Operations Manager? (Max 350 words)
  • Is there anything else you would like to share at this stage? (Max 150 words).

1st round interviews will take place on Friday 9th May and will be virtual. 2nd round interviews will take place on Thursday 15th May and will be in person in North London.

Smart Works is committed to best practice employment practices, including reducing the burden for those seeking work. Smart Works will therefore reimburse reasonable costs of travel to interviews if required.
