We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Direct Marketing and Fundraising Officer to join our Public Fundraising team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our fundraising activities, particularly during appeals, where your coordination skills will be crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
Appeal Coordination:
- Assist the Direct Marketing Manager - Acquisition in keeping member agency fundraising directors and key suppliers up to date in the run-up to and during appeals.
- Update the fundraising and marketing team budget tracker, ensuring accurate financial tracking throughout the appeal process.
- Support the setup and management of Appeal Toolkits and Appeal Hubs, providing essential assets to staff, member agencies, and suppliers.
- Assist with the coordination and delivery of creative projects across all direct marketing channels, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Work with the team to gather and report appeal results, providing updates to the Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Executive Team, and CEO’s office.
Ongoing Responsibilities:
- Organize and manage review meetings with suppliers’ post-appeal, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Monitor and update core and appeal budgets, processing invoices and ensuring financial accuracy.
- Support the Director of Fundraising and Marketing in organizing and managing the Fundraising Director’s Group meetings, including diary coordination, preparing presentations, and taking minutes.
- Provide general administrative support to the Fundraising and Marketing team, including setting up monthly team meetings, organizing agendas, and coordinating away days.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in project coordination and administrative support, ideally within a fundraising or marketing environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience with budget tracking and financial processes.

Who are we looking for?

The Forces Employment Charity is seeking a dedicated Communications Officer on a 10-month maternity leave contract to join our lively MarComms team. You will be focusing on providing both digital and traditional marketing support to the programmes that provide employment advice and guidance to UK Armed Forces veterans.
Role: You will be responsible for raising and sustaining the profile of the Forces Employment Charity’s Ex-Forces Employment programme and Veterans Support Programme, with potential and current clients, employers, and other partner organisations. The post holder will play a vital role in the marketing team and will be the first point of contact for staff from both teams.
Each comms officer has a ‘strength’ in lead of a particular area of MarComms. In this role, you will lead in-house digital content creation across the organisation. The wider team will work collaboratively with you to support production and other team members as required.
The role reports to the Marketing Manager. It is a temporary full-time position to cover a 10-month maternity leave period. It is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday and pays £28,500 Pro Rata. The successful candidate will be working on a hybrid basis with occasional travel to the headquarters in central London (an opportunity to work with the MarComms Team in the office).
Principal Responsibilities:
· Proactively acting as the MarComms designated contact for the Ex-Forces Employment Programme and Veterans Support Programme and their communications and marketing requirements.
· Co-ordinating and producing the MarComms digital content such as vox pops for internal and external events by conducting insightful interviews, short video clips, and editing seamless productions to coordinate and produce MarComms digital content, such as vox pops, for internal and external events.
· Virtual and in-person event support.
· Supporting the Marketing Manager and coordinating the team’s contributions towards the established MarComms ‘Topic of the Month’ (TotM) framework. Align content pieces across the department, such as creating articles, social posts, newsletters, case studies, etc, to ensure the delivery of consistent messaging.
· Scheduling content on social media channels (currently X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) using content management software. Including uploading and publishing videos onto YouTube.
· Recording, drawing and analysing insights from social media, campaign work to continually review and evaluate and adapt your output.
· Creating online and offline content, including written articles and still/motion graphics.
· Website page and post updates, working with website lead - the Head of Brand and Marketing.
· Supporting the Customer Engagement Manager with producing email newsletters and required content.
· Assisting the Head of Brand and Marketing by ensuring the correct use of the Forces Employment Charity’s brand guidelines internally and externally.
· Collaborating with external communication managers from delivery partners and stakeholders as required for joint working initiatives.
· Acting as a brand guardian for your team’s programme presentations using established brand templates, guidelines and writing style guide.
· When required, undertaking other tasks in support of the Forces Employment Charity’s wider work.
Essential Competencies:

There is a very strong focus on all aspects of digital campaigning for this role and you will be fully knowledgeable about Google ads, Google analytics, SEO, PFA, PPC, SEM, CRM, mobile, social media, website design and content creation, podcasts, blogs, vlogs and email creation. You will be at a significant advantage if you have design and WordPress experience. You will be a part of a small but dynamic and friendly marketing and fundraising team and involved in many aspects of our life-saving work including sales plans for our training courses, raising our profile, protecting our brand and reputation and supporting our fundraising activities. You will have no paid reports to you, but recruiting suitable volunteers is something we would encourage.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Drive engagement, increase visibility, improve our course sales and fundraising targets
· Manage our national and localised digital awareness campaigns from development stage to presenting results and assessment of impact
· Manage and optimise our website and landing pages for improved user experience and conversion rates
· Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in digital marketing
· Help develop social media engagement strategies with our social media officer
· Coordinate email marketing campaigns, including audience segmentation, content creation, and performance analysis
· Conduct audience and market research to identify new opportunities and target audiences
· Collect, manage, process and analyse data, making recommendations to inform future strategy
· Engage different audiences on different channels such as writing press releases, website pages, podcasts, blogs, socials, and press releases
· Manage and write award entries
· Design marketing collateral such as posters, leaflets, web pages
· Work closely with our Senior Fundraising Manager on increasing fundraisers, fundraising income and volunteers
· Do any duties to support the Head of Marketing and Communications and Fundraising.
To be successful in this role, you must be responsive, flexible, have pride in your attention to detail, be extremely organised, meet deadlines and be driven to exceeding your targets. You will need to be self-motivated and work comfortably on your own as a remote worker but enjoy working in a team (online). You will enjoy working mostly operationally as well as having a strategic approach to your work.
For this role, you will need:
- Evidence of leading and implementation of successful digital campaigns
- Project management of campaigns and communicating tasks to project teams effectively and efficiently
- Proven track record of multi-media marketing
- Experience of copy writing and proofreading for different audiences on multi-channels
- To be an excellent verbal and written communicator
- To be a confident negotiator and presenter

You'll build and grow our engagement and conversions by tailoring content to our different audiences.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Working under the direction of the Digital Marketing Lead, and collaboratively with the Social Media Officer, develop and create impactful and engaging visual content, with a focus on video and graphics, for our social media and digital marketing channels to grow our social media audiences
- Ensure content is adapted / suitable for specific channels / audiences and is in line with brand aesthetics and identity
- Manage multiple video projects simultaneously
- With the Head of Communications and PR, work with external freelance editors when required
