Endometriosis UK is the leading UK charity supporting those living with endometriosis. Formed in 1981, we offer information and support to women and those assigned female at birth with endometriosis, for example through our website and information leaflets, and via our local support groups, Helpline and online forum. As well as directly supporting those with endometriosis, we work to raise awareness of endometriosis amongst healthcare professionals, the public and the media; lobby for improved treatment and management; and support research. 

This will be a busy, varied and important role working closely with the Head of Campaigns and Communications to raise awareness and increase the visibility of endometriosis and Endometriosis UK, and designing and managing campaigns that really make a difference across the UK. You will be working as part of a passionate team with a strong commitment to achieving change to help those with living with endometriosis.

You’ll be creative, resourceful and be able to create and deliver campaigns that make a tangible difference to those with endometriosis. This is an exciting opportunity to help drive forward Endometriosis UK’s new strategy and boost our impact for the benefit of everyone affected by endometriosis.

We are looking for a highly organised, pro-active and confident Senior Communications and Campaigns Officer to manage our press office, running it to the highest standard. You’ll have an eye for a strong story, and will be confident in pitching stories to press and drafting press releases. You will be responsible for raising the profile of endometriosis in the media and ensuring Endometriosis UK is the go-to voice on menstrual health and endometriosis issues. You will also be a passionate and creative campaigner who has demonstrable experience of developing and delivering successful public awareness campaigns. You’ll enjoy working as part of a small but driven communications and campaigns team, who are passionate about driving change for those with endometriosis.

Your main responsibilities:

• Working closely with the Management and Programme teams to develop, deliver and continually evaluate Climate Strategies’ Communications AND Member Engagement Strategies.
• Translate complex research documents into engaging digital content (e.g. social media, press releases, op-eds) for a range of target audiences.
• Review, edit and proof scientific reports, press releases, op-eds and other publications.
• Conduct daily media monitoring and manage the Communications Calendar to identify comms and member engagement opportunities.
• Ongoing management of websites, social media channels, and email campaigns.
• Support the coordination and/or dissemination of virtual and in-person events
• Build and maintain relationships with media outlets
• Line Manage the Comms and Members Associate/Officer
• Lead engagement and build relationships with members to support our mission and goals.
• Oversee spending for communication and membership engagement activities.
• Conduct regular evaluations of the impact of communication and member engagement activities and improve to meet organisational goals.

Essential criteria

• Relevant university degree (e.g. Communications, Climate and sustainability, Journalism, International Development); Master’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience using digital communications to meet organisational and/or campaign objectives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including editing, proofreading, layout and design, and content creation.
• An ability to translate complex concepts into digestible, engaging communications products (e.g. toolkits, newsletters, policy briefs) for a range of audiences, using feedback from programme and networks staff, research partners and stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in (digital, social) media, and proven ability to propose and deploy outside-the-box solutions.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with partners, a diverse global network of researchers and policymakers, and journalists.
• Experience managing teams and the ability to direct the work of others with compassion and authority.
• Strong organisational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to work flexibly, multi‐task, and produce, coordinate, and deliver projects independently in a dynamic environment.
• Advanced digital skills including the Microsoft Office Suite, content creation tools (e.g. Canva, Social Pilot), all major social media platforms and associated analytics tools.

Desirable Criteria

• An existing network of media contacts which you can use to raise awareness of the Climate Strategies brand.
• Experience of using communications to amplify the impact of technical projects, including data visualisation.
• Knowledge of the international climate policy landscape.
• Good understanding of the intricacies of working for a nonprofit or social/environmental organisation.
• Proficiency in other languages.

Location 

This position can be based either in our co-working space in the Netherlands (Utrecht) or London (near Liverpool Street). The position is hybrid, and applicants are expected to commute to either the Utrecht (NL) or London (UK) office at least once per week.

All applicants must have the legal right to work in the Netherlands or the UK for at least 18 months from the starting date of the contract. Please note that we are unable to sponsor work visas for this position.

Role Purpose

The role will focus on understanding and exploring the links between Gender and Disability, including access to Assistive Technology, interactions with Poverty and Disability and Social Justice, working with our existing and new partners, including relevant UN agencies, community partners, and our funders or clients (often donors or development banks). This role includes undertaking and supporting research to address gender issues within disability inclusion, including barriers and facilitators to understand ‘what works’ to drive gender-inclusive access to assistive technology.

This role will undertake research (including research management; ethics; facilitation of qualitative and quantitative methods; other data collection activities; analysis; writing reports and papers; and dissemination of research findings) within the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office) funded ‘AT2030’ programme. Priority countries within the programme are in the regions of Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Pacific and expect to include countries such as Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Indonesia.

The post would suit a post-graduate researcher with practice-based experience within the thematic areas of disability, gender and social justice, and a good grasp of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Experience working in the global south or less resources context is preferrable, as well as strong communication, project management and partnership skills.

We are looking for a creative, rigorous, and empathetic individual, ideally, with skills and experience in working with a gender lens. A candidate who can work autonomously, and as part of a team across various inter-related projects would be welcomed.

The post holder will work within GDI Hub's Research and Delivery team but will also spend time with other team members and research partners as needed.

The role will be based at the dedicated GDI Hub space on the new UCL East Campus site within the 560-acre Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with easy access to all venues. The position comes with UCL Associate status, which provides access to UCL campus buildings and resources (e.g. library). The post-holder will also have access to an annual learning and development budget, a Wellbeing Bonus of up to £500 per year and 28 days annual leave.

Role Responsibilities

Role Objectives will include:

• Carrying out research to strengthen our data and evidence on the impacts of gender on access to assistive technology across the AT2030 programme.
• Support research projects focused on gender, reproductive and sexual health, and disability, including fieldwork/travel as needed.
• Support the research planning and delivery of projects regarding inclusive education, accessible healthcare and gendered design of AT including digital products and work with GDI Hub’s international partners.
• Contribute research support across the research and delivery team and Hub.

Support the inclusion of gender in GDI Hub’s work and collate disaggregated data to make recommendations for future work for GDI and its partners.

RESEARCH PRIORITIES: Explore gender influences in access to AT and social justice.

• To liaise with local and international partners, travel will likely be involved.
• To carry out research activities – conducting, analysing, and reporting theoretical and empirical results.
• To gather qualitative data, i.e., interviews, workshops, co-design/participatory design.
• To support dissemination of the project outputs, through contributing to writing and compiling technical reports and academic papers.
• To plan and undertake quantitative data analysis of gender related data.
• Ensure all data is conducted in line with ethical conduct of research, including informed consent collection and appropriate data handling.
• To contribute to the creation of content for academic publications, publicity materials and social media.

About the role  

We are seeking a Head of Development and Partnerships to join our Senior Management Team alongside the CEO, Head of Programmes and Head of Finance and Operations. 

You will drive income generation and partnerships development with funders and prime contractors within primarily the UK public and international development sectors, ensuring that our programmes, courses and consultancy offerings meet market needs and are financially sustainable.

You will lead on activities generating over £1m annually through grants, tenders, contracts, partnerships, and strategic communications contributing to The Human Edge's financial growth and brand development. 

As the key member dedicated to income generation, you will shape and expand our funding streams, driving the growth of our services while serving as a charismatic external ambassador and effective communicator and influencer.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Team Manager for our supported living service in Ipswich, Suffolk. Someone who will go above and beyond to make life amazing for our service users and our enthusiastic and professional support workers. Our Charity supports 13 adults with learning disabilities/autism to lead fulfilling and independent lives whilst being active members of the community.

The Role

As our Team Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Creating and managing monthly rotas;
• Supporting and supervising assistants;
• Organising and leading weekly team meetings;
• Inducting new starters into their role and completing competency observations;
• Overseeing reporting such as medication records, health and safety, and quality assurance;
• Leading on the planning and facilitating community events;
• Working as part of the senior leadership team to maintain a high quality of care;

The Team Manager supports the Registered Care Manager in creating and promoting community and a sense of home, leading the service delivery in line with L’Arche values, traditions and standards, and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC].

About you:

• Well-organised, IT literate and adept at allocating and delegating work appropriately.
• Accomplished in effectively leading and managing team performance, such as providing clear objectives, reviewing outcomes, putting in place development plans, and taking appropriate action to deal with poor performance.
• Proven ability to guide, support and teach the essential skills of supporting people with learning disabilities/autism.
• A clear understanding of care planning processes.
• 1 or more years’ experience as a Team Manager working with adults with learning disabilities.
