As Head of Development, you will be a key member of a small team. Reporting to the incoming Chief Executive, you will develop and implement the preexisting fundraising strategy and guide the organisation’s communications and PR strategy. You will inherit a strategically developed portfolio of relationships and income streams, with particular strengths in trusts and foundations, and a strong network of individual donors and scope to build corporates. There is also a small but growing legacy circle, created in response to a recent bequest of £1M+. You will line manage a small team of two: the Development & Communications Coordinator, and the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. With ambitions to expand upon NYJO’s existing work, your ability to set and achieve more ambitious targets will be essential.
Please note that this role will require occasional travel that will vary across the year, depending on the events calendar. Travel is likely to be required twice per month - please discuss with Joe Blythe at QuarterFive.
As Head of Development, you will:
- Develop and implement the existing fundraising strategy and develop marketing and communications efforts, ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging to effectively engage donors and stakeholders
- Deliver a high standard of supporter care and relationship management tailored to the level of giving, including nurturing their successful new Legacy Club
- Manage and attend an annual series of fundraising events, from relaxed open days to formal receptions

Ideal skills and experience:
- Experience of securing 5- and 6-figure grants from a range of trust, statutory and/or individual sources

- An outgoing, approachable, confident and professional manner in dealing with donors, prospects and other stakeholders

Who are we looking for?
Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a communications role (or related field) along with excellent written skills. You will be working to develop press releases and build relations with relevant contacts and journalists and as such we require excellent communication and networking skills. You will have a strong track record of delivering engaging social media content across different channels and audiences to support organisational priorities. How you will make a difference:
Amna is seeking a Social Media and Design Consultant on a monthly retainer contract to support our digital content strategy and enhance our online presence. We have coordinated and implemented major successful campaigns and developed cutting-edge campaign, communications and research tactics. The Role
Core responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and implementing content plan for social media channels (primarily Instagram, X, Tiktok and Facebook) including drafting copy, creating content and ensure consistent posting for all channels with the guidance of Digital campaigner/Digital Campaign Lead and campaign team
- Producing a range of daily digital content for Uplift’s social media channels - from simple social-first graphic design, to lo-fi effective social video content
- Working in collaboration with other creatives - ie graphic designers, video producers, creators and influencers - for additional campaign assets
- Creating reactive content and messaging to respond to current events, helping Uplift maximise opportunities for engagement and growth using the news cycle
- Community management across the various campaign channels
- Developing social media toolkits and coordinating with partners around big mobilisations
- Analysing the performance of social media outputs and their contribution towards the wider campaign, and making recommendations on how to improve
- Managing the distribution of key pieces of social media content to relevant stakeholders to increase online amplification (partners, groups and pages)
- Supporting the campaign team on other digital tasks as required: ie maintaining campaign websites, digital action tools, online databases and email inbox

About you
The successful candidate will be employed by the IUCN UK Peatland Programme’s host organisation. The new team member will be pivotal in the delivery of the Peatland Programme’s objectives to champion peatland values.
