Monitoring and Evaluation: Help to monitor and evaluate the outputs and outcomes of our projects, and maintain accurate records of grant conditions.

About EFA
English for Action provides free, participatory, and empowering English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes for migrants in London. Our classes are spaces to build community and support students to organise collectively around issues like employment and housing rights. Our work currently supports around 400 adult migrants across London. We’ve become a national centre of good practice for a radical participatory approach to ESOL, informed by the work of Paulo Freire, and we share this approach through training, research and partnerships.
Organisation: We are a staff team of 8 people supported by a larger team of volunteers and 9 trustees. EFA promotes shared leadership and collaboration and we aim for our organisational structure to reflect this. In the last 4 years we’ve transitioned away from having a CEO to an executive team to oversee operations and decision-making. As a charity, ultimate responsibility for, and control of, the organisation lies with the Board of Trustees.
Fundraising at EFA: We have one permanent fundraiser at EFA, who works two days per week on this area of work. The majority of EFA’s funding comes from charitable trusts and foundations but we are also funded directly by some of our partner institutions to provide courses for their members. We receive some local authority/EU funding as well. We raise additional funds through individual giving, corporate relationships and earned income. We are keen to explore new areas of fundraising and/or develop some of our less well established income streams.

Purpose of the role:
The main purpose of the Partnerships Manager role is to lead on the delivery of first-class account management to a diverse portfolio of corporate partners, generating income to support Breaking Barriers’ work. Each partnership at Breaking Barriers is bespoke, comprising fundraising, skilled volunteering, awareness raising and, crucially, placement and job opportunities for our refugee clients.
Working closely with the wider Partnerships Management and Programmes teams, you will be responsible for launching new partnerships and retaining business by deepening relationships and identifying opportunities for growth.
The successful candidate will have experience managing corporate partner relationships, including making fundraising asks and managing external communication with donors and partners at all levels of seniority. You will deploy your influencing skills and ability to build profitable relationships to great effect as you take a leading role identifying and nurturing future strategic partnerships. ROLDA (Romanian League in Defence of Animals) is a small animal welfare charity working to improve the lives of dogs, cats, and other animals in Romania and internationally. Since its establishment in 2006, ROLDA has become a beacon of hope for the millions of vulnerable stray animals in Romania – one of Europe's economically poorest nations. Our mission is to manage the homeless animal population, estimated to be millions, through six key focuses: rescue, rehabilitation, sheltering, sterilisation, and education. Within our shelters, inspired by British kennel design and maintained to meet EU animal welfare standards, we can house up to 700 stray dogs at a time. Here, they receive complete veterinary care, rehabilitation, and preparation for rehoming. Since 2006, we have helped over 48,000 animals (primarily dogs and cats) and built two shelters for dogs and one for disabled and senior cats. We also distribute support, primarily through small grants, to six other charities in Romania and over 40 shelters in Ukraine. We rehome mainly in Switzerland, Sweden, and the UK. In addition to our efforts in rescuing and rehoming animals, ROLDA tackles the root cause of Romania's homeless animals through comprehensive neutering programmes and educational initiatives. Since 2006, we have successfully neutered nearly 20,000 cats and dogs, significantly impacting Romania's severe overpopulation of animals.

They will be confident at communicating data in a variety of ways to a large range of audiences, identifying key take-aways and the broader implications of the findings on our clients and programming. They will also be able to train others in key data analysis and communication skills.

Overall purpose
We are excited to pilot a new type of Employment Adviser role in our Services team, focusing on building relationships with local employers to support our job-ready clients in securing employment.
You will build networks of local employers and collaborate with our Employment Advisers to help clients with intensive job searches and applications, while managing your own caseload of work-ready clients.
We are seeking candidates with experience in engaging employers and knowledge of the local job market, including finding hidden opportunities.
The primary focus of your role will be helping individuals facing employment barriers, especially those who have experienced forced migration, find paid work. You will manage a fast-paced caseload, providing one-on-one support to clients online, by phone and in person to help them reach their employment goals.
In addition to direct client work, you will assist the team in identifying job opportunities and work with the Senior Services Manager to develop key employer relationships. You will also coordinate your clients access to volunteer-led support, scheduling mock interviews and practice sessions.

Other considerations
- As part of our safeguarding commitment to our clients, we carry out preemployment checks to ensure that successful applicants are suitable to work with adults at risk. These include basic DBS checks, obtaining references and verifying a candidate’s identity and right to work in the UK.
- Some travel between our different areas of operation (including London, Birmingham and Manchester) will be required. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Time off in lieu would be provided in this case.
