About this job: 
As Governance Officer, you’ll: 

• ensure the administration of governance processes is completed with accuracy and timeliness,
• support with administration for governance projects and Board, committee, and subsidiary meetings, including agendas, paper deadlines, minutes and tracking actions,
• track filing deadlines and compliance requirements for Dogs Trust and subsidiaries,
• refine our policy development process, maintain the policy register and the Council member intranet, ensuring trustees have access to make effective decisions. 

About you:
To thrive in this role, you’ll need exceptional administration skills, with the ability to organise information effectively, including organising high-level meetings, comprehensive minute-taking and following up on meeting actions. To achieve this, you’ll need to be efficient and organised, with meticulous attention to detail. You’ll also require a grasp of the governance process and it’s mechanisms, such as understanding how Board appointments are made, what happens at Board meetings and importance of robust record keeping. Above all, a commitment to maintaining confidentiality is essential, as this role has access to sensitive information.

Key Details

Salary: £39,600 per annum with generous benefits including 25 days annual holiday plus public holidays, enhanced pension contribution, private medical health insurance, life assurance, and flexible/hybrid working.

Hours: 35 per week over 5 days (we would also consider applicants who wanted to do 4 days a week on a pro-rata basis). 

Contract type: This is a full time role. Some flexibility on hours may be available.

Location: Hybrid working with office in central London and options for flexibility to work from home. The postholder will be expected to attend our central London office regularly.

Reporting to the Data Manager, you’ll collect, organise, study and communicate supporter and campaign data to provide insights to help colleagues across Good Law Project win campaigns and cases.

What we're looking for

• Experience working with relational datasets, Google Analytics 4 (or Adobe), spreadsheets and a data visualisation tool. 
• Proficient using tools to clean, manipulate, and analyse data effectively.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Ability to create clear and informative data visualisations (e.g., graphs, charts, dashboards) that tell compelling stories.
• Project management skills to plan and prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure the successful execution of data analysis projects.
• Working knowledge of current data protection legislation to ensure that your work is fully compliant with all GDPR requirements and where to seek additional guidance.

This is a senior role within the Grants and Programmes team in the Global Programmes Directorate, requiring excellent experience of people management, impact measurement, good grant making practice and implementing strategic programmes.

The successful candidate will need to evidence the following:

You will have knowledge and experience in:

• Demonstrable track record of operating at CEO level or similar, managing, and embedding change.
• Proven track record of managing, growing, and developing support services in line with best practice in different and diverse communities, ideally in health or social care sectors (within Mental Health specifically preferred).
• Experience in recovering reserves and developing cost-saving efficiencies.
• Experience in restructures.
• Experience working with statutory and non-statutory bodies to achieve commissioning and grant targets and to grow the charity.
• Experience of working strategically to source and secure sustainable funding solutions working within tight financial constraints.
• Building effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including service users based on principles of co-production.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent, with demonstrable evidence of continuous professional and personal development.
• Excellent people management and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to lead, delegate appropriately, motivate and support the performance of staff. 
• Excellent understanding of safeguarding legislation and processes, safety, and quality management.

Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. We work in partnership with people affected by leprosy and LF to improve detection, ensure access to treatment and care, and promote inclusion and wellbeing. We have just finalised our new Global Strategy for 2024-30, which will guide us in our efforts to accelerate progress towards global targets for leprosy and LF, and towards our vision of a world free from leprosy and LF.

Job Context

Our new Global Strategy introduces some new approaches and priorities to our work, including: our first ever global Theory of Change (ToC), the most detailed Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) approach ever, and a sub-strategy dedicated to research, innovation and technology: the Global Research, Innovation and Technology Strategy (GRITS). With the finalisation of the new strategy, and as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our impact and efficiency, we are now seeking a consultant to provide specialised research support and technical advice.

Job Purpose

The primary objectives of this role are to lead the transitional phase of the GRITS, creating a detailed operational plan for its implementation; support the management of the existing research portfolio ensuring technical soundness, budget adherence and timely delivery; establish a sustainable pathway for research expertise to be led by in-country professionals.

Working Relationships

• Reports to Lepra UK’s Director of Programmes and Advocacy
• Day-to-day management liaison with the Director of Programmes and Advocacy and team members of Lepra’ sister organisation in India, LEPRA Society
• Close working links and collaboration with UK Fundraising, Communications and Finance teams
• International travel as needed for programmes oversight and support, and external representation.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Lead the transitional phase of the GRITS.
• Identify and address any gaps or challenges in the current strategy.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth transition.
• Support Programmes in the design of new projects / programmes by ensuring proposals submitted are technically sound and capitalize upon learning. Lead on ethical approval applications.
• Support Programmes in identifying, maintaining and growing academic / research -related partnerships, according to Lepra’s strategic interests and capacities 
• Serve as a focal point for external research contacts that have an interest in people affected by leprosy and LF.

Operational Plan Management

• Develop a comprehensive operational plan for the rollout of the strategy.
• Establish the initial GRITS processes including the Go no Go; steering group established and functioning.
• Define clear timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure the plan is realistic, achievable, and aligns with the charity’s objectives and resources.

Support Existing Research Profile

We are looking for an experienced individual giving fundraiser to lead the team through a maternity cover period, with specialist skills in digital acquisition and donor stewardship, to oversee the success and growth of the programme.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively lead the Individual Giving and Acquisition teams (with a direct Senior Manager report for each area), overseeing the delivery of a highly successful direct marketing programme across digital and offline channels (including Meta, Google Search Ads, YouTube, DRTV, Telemarketing and Email). 
• Ensure a data-led approach - monitoring and analysing income and expenditure budgets, the attrition of regular givers, data selections and journeys analysis etc. - incorporating these insights into team plans, driving efficiencies and maximising opportunities for development of the Individual Giving programme. 
• Lead on agency management, with responsibility for procurement, negotiation and contract development to ensure cost-efficiency, quality and compliance. 
• Foster a creative and collaborative approach, working closely with senior colleagues to ensure mass marketing is inspiring, whilst remaining respectful to War Child's work and the children it supports.
• Collaborate with other Fundraising Heads/Senior Managers to maximise opportunities for cross-team working - utilising War Child's impressive network of supporters, talent and ambassadors effectively. 

About You:

• An experienced senior fundraising leader and direct marketer, with strong knowledge and expertise of delivering mass market fundraising across a variety of channels.
• Knowledge/expertise of developing and delivering emergency fundraising appeals, ideally within an international development or humanitarian NGO setting.
• Proven expertise of developing integrated individual giving strategies, with a multi-channel approach covering both online and offline activities.
• Analytical -  with a keen eye for detail and recognition of the importance of being data-led.

Since the Pathology Portal platform launched on 15 August 2022, the number of users, resources and editors continues to grow quickly. The Pathology Portal won the prestigious Outstanding Innovation award at the Healthcare Honours on 23 November 2023 and so this is a great opportunity to join the successful team.  We are looking for someone to fill a 14 hours per week job share, working collaboratively with the existing part-time Learning Platform Technician to support editors who contribute and upload learning material to the Pathology Portal.

The Learning Platform Technician will review and edit materials including videos, ensuring they are in line with requirements before assisting with the upload process and supporting editors in the process by dealing with queries or issues as they arise. The postholder will also administer the Editorial Board meetings.

Scientific experience is not required for this role and training will be provided on how to upload materials. As the Pathology Portal is a joint project between the College and NHS England, it is important that the uploaded materials adhere to the Portal’s brand identity and style guidelines.

The role includes a wide range of tasks involving content upload and administration, as well as communicating with various stakeholders. The role will be well suited to an individual who is keen to learn new skills, enjoys problem solving and providing feedback to support the continuous development of the Pathology Portal.
