Growing Hope Senior Finance Officer
Location: Hybrid working (2-3 days office based in King’s Cross Mon, Thurs and possibly Fri)
Hours: 37.5 (full time)

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus. Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We have three clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley and High Wycombe, and we are currently setting up our fourth and fifth clinics in Maidstone and Redbridge. We worked with over 500 children, young people, parents, carers and siblings in 2023. As a national charity Growing Hope has trained over 1,000 professionals & parents. We are continuing to expand, with the set-up of further local clinics on the horizon.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional with great attention to detail, strong analytical skills and an ability to work in a fast pace environment. The role will report to the Director of Operations and will involve running book keeping, reporting and banking functions as well as overseeing payroll. This role supports the national Growing Hope charity and each of the local charities’ (clinics) accounting for around £1 million collectively each year. You will be joining a small and dedicated national team of eleven.

Job Purpose
Growing Hope requires an experienced finance professional (with part qualifications) who will be responsible for the delivery of internal financial management systems and controls, and for maintaining accurate financial management records, including managing the process of producing annual accounts. This role covers both the national charity and the local Growing Hope charities which are growing across the UK. The national charity raises around £600,000 per year and the local charities around £50,000-£100,000. The Senior Finance Officer will support the charities with day to day book keeping, raising invoices, paying expenses, scheduling payroll payments and running management reports and accounts. This job role also involves advising on budgets for fundraising project proposals and working closely with the supporter engagement team. This individual will be able to communicate effectively with all the relevant parties including the national Growing Hope team, the local Clinic Managers, and local finance trustees who have overall governance of each charity’s finances.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow.

Book keeping & Finance processes

• Processing of accounts using Quickbooks for each Growing Hope charity in a timely manner (currently 6 small charities)
• Paying expenses and invoices as and when these are approved.
• Liaising with payroll provider and scheduling salary payments for all staff each month.
• Invoicing local Growing Hope charities each month for book keeping, payroll and quickbooks.
• Running gift aid claims and supporting volunteers to run this across the Growing Hope charities.
• Liaising with local clinics and churches to agree payment schedules and giving for each financial year.
• Participate actively in prayer and worship times as part of the team. This includes praying, coaching and supporting Clinic Managers to understand their budgets and financial processes.

Fundraising

• Contributing to the fundraising strategy and development of budgets for fundraising projects.
• Contributing to the wider teams fundraising efforts through networking, and involvement in fundraising and community events.

Reporting

• Updating monthly forecast vs. budget spreadsheets for each local charity and the national charity.
• Leading monthly budget reporting meetings for Senior Leadership Team and Chair of Trustees, using analytical skills to highlight patterns or potential risks or problems arising.
• Create annual reports in partnership with the Clinic Managers and Finance trustee for each local charity and ensure these are independently examined by recruiting and liaising with volunteer accountants.

Payroll

• Liaising with the payroll provider to run payroll for all staff across the Growing Hope charities each month.
• Setting up and running pension payments each month.
• Paying NI payments each month.

General administration

• Set up bank accounts and signatories for local Growing Hope charities, support the local trustees with ensuring all financial processes are set up and working (e.g. bank account, Stripe, Quickbooks, payroll, pensions, HMRC)
• Sending letters and emails as required.
• Maintain data protection and confidentiality in line with Growing Hope’s information governance policy.
• Ensure adherence to Safeguarding and wider Growing Hope policies.

About the Role

This new role within the Operations Directorate will manage our existing portfolio of national skills competitions, work with the wider team and network to develop our offering to ensure we are aligned with the UK economic priorities. You will have experience of the technical and vocational education and training or apprenticeship systems, be proactive and able to engage with a range of stakeholders.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the national competition programme is delivered to a high standard, ensuring a collaborative approach to its development and delivery, in partnership with education and industry

Key tasks and responsibilities:

1. Management of a portfolio of national skills competitions across a range of industry sectors:

Develop knowledge and understanding of each competition and their operational needs and requirements, through meetings (one-to-one and group), with competition organising partners (COPs), educators and industry.

• Provide technical and operational advice, guidance, and support on competition delivery to internal teams, partners, and external stakeholders in education and industry.

• Undertake mid-year and annual reviews of competition organising partners (COPs) and continually seek to develop efficient quality procedures.

2. Management of all contracts and processes associated with WorldSkills UK’s network of competition organising partners (COP’s):

Implement the competitions organising partner (COP) quality assurance and continuous improvement model and monitoring framework, to ensure the programme runs effectively through contract compliance and that key milestones are met and risks are mitigated.

• Quality assure and sign off key competition deliverables and milestones, reporting and tracking progress on centralised monitoring systems.

• Carry out monthly catch up and bi-annual reviews of competition organising partners (COPs) and support them to continually improve programme delivery resulting in a high-quality, innovative competitions and a positive competitor experience. Page 7 of 10

• Provide development support to delivery partners to raise the standard and quality of competitions delivered within their footprint, in collaboration with the Quality and Standards team. • Ensure monitoring and reporting systems are accurate and kept up to date.

• Work with the Corporate Partnerships team to manage competitions funded through an investment model.

3. Support the development of new skills competitions:

• Review, assess and implement initiatives that create future-proof skills competitions that are sustainable, responsive to employer needs and provide greater alignment to UK economic priorities.

4. Project management:

• Take ownership of allocated projects within the Operations directorate ensuring all deviations from targets (time, money, people etc.) are identified and addressed at the earliest possible stage.

Job Purpose 
Growing Hope is a national charity with a growing number of clinics across the UK. This operations role will provide support across the Growing Hope national staff team. This will include support with administration, finance, fundraising and training. This role is key in enabling all the functions of the national charity to run smoothly and effectively. The role will be based in King’s Cross with occasional events outside of the office.

IT administration

• Oversight of IT systems used by Growing Hope including ticket tailor, jot form, mail chimp, Microsoft office, google adverts and tracking. Supporting with problem solving when issues arise. 
• Overseeing and training others in Canopy (clinic administration software) and helping support and problem solve with using this. This includes liaising with a freelance software developer to manage the development project.

HR administration

• Oversight of the recruitment checking process for new volunteers, trustees, freelancers and employees. This includes carrying out DBS checks, calling referees, chasing for references and communicating with individuals as they start with Growing Hope.
• Management of the ‘internal news’ list in order to track individuals working closely with the charity. 
• Writing, drafting and sending out HR letters, contracts and contract variations. 
• Organising internal events on behalf of the team including away days, training days and ad hoc events. 
• Organising online training as required for members of the Growing Hope team.

Office Support

• Overseeing the day to day office and building use including the alarm, maintenance visits, wifi, printer and other equipment. This includes liaising with other individuals who have office use.
• Liaising with the Director of Operations around the use of the office.

• Supporting with external events planning including finding venues, sponsorship and items needed.

To be successful, you will have significant experience as a HR professional, having previously advised and supporting managers in a range of employee relations. You will be CIPD Level 3 or equivalent, with experience of coordinating end-to-end recruitment from advert to onboarding. World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist employment support to refugees in the UK.STEP aims to support and empower people with experience of forced migration through a tailored employment programme that addresses the complex barriers refugees face in preparing for, and ultimately finding, work in the UK.STEP is open to all refugees, and people seeking asylum with the right to work.

Our strategy over the next 12 months is to refine and strengthen our programmes, with a focus on excellence, innovation and sustainability across STEP.  Central to these efforts is adopting ‘Lean Impact’ principles across our organisation and ways of working, with the support of Spring Impact. The starting point of this work is the planning and pilot of STEP Online, an intensive version of STEP to fast track those who are highly skilled. We plan to explore, test and plan for this programme in consultancy with Spring Impact, leveraging their Lean Impact Methodology.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in leading this piece of work with two main objectives:

1. Explore, test and plan for STEP Online. This will involve being the lead implementer of testing minimum viable products, participating in workshops and identified working groups, and co-leading on test coaching sessions and team reflections with Spring Impact.
2. Establish and build internal capacity and development for Lean Impact. This includes supporting a discipline of continuous testing and learning at World Jewish Relief to be able to rapidly trial, refine and scale other models across the organisation on a longer-term basis.

About you

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Experience developing and implementing innovative and community-centred learning practices, including designing prototypes, data collection, analysis and using a high level of numeracy to make data-driven decisions to build impactful solutions (i.e., Lean Impact, Equity-Centred Design, Human Centred Design).
• Proven experience in managing projects from initiation to completion, including scope, timeline, budget, and resource management.
• Experience working on projects for people who have experienced forced migration, particularly, in the refugee employment sphere would be desirable.
• Empathy & Emotional Awareness - Ability to hear accurately and understand unspoken, partly expressed thoughts, needs and concerns of others
• Data Analysis - A strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation methodologies, the measurement of project and social impact and sufficiently numerate to be highly competent at analysing data sets.
• Self-motivated - Highly entrepreneurial, flexible, and committed to getting things done

Populo Living is a development and housing company wholly owned by a single shareholder, Newham Council. The role of Head of Finance – Treasury and Financial Planning will lead, manage and co-ordinate the provision of the Groups Financial Planning, Treasury Management Services and Management Accounting functions as well as assist the Finance Director to lead and manage the Finance team.

The role:

• Lead, manage and motivate a team of four with two direct reports.
• Lead on all treasury related matters for the group such as arranging new funding, loan compliance, cashflow and banking.
• Lead on the organisation’s annual financial plan, including extensive sensitivity analysis of key performance indicators.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations initially, the role holder will have technical leadership and overall responsibility for managing the Data and Innovation team. This team helps Breaking Barriers maximise the value of its data, by conducting analysis and managing the CRM (Salesforce) and related software.

The team works across all areas of the organisation to improve processes, unlock efficiencies through automation and generate insights from data. They ensure that data is utilised to inform any innovations or refinements to our services.

The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial manager with a high level of data literacy. We are looking for someone strategic, highly organised and a strong people and team manager. They will be confident at communicating data in a variety of ways to a large range of audiences, identifying key take-aways and the broader implications of the findings on our clients and programming. They will also be able to train others in key data analysis and communication skills.
