We are offering an opportunity for a qualified Technical Specialist in Conservation Design & Impact to play a central role in delivering and supporting Fauna & Flora’s work to strengthen project design and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) to understand impact at project and organisational levels and strengthen conservation practice.
Your experience will include theory-based project design and MEL, and you will have knowledge of a breath of MEL approaches relevant to conservation work – including social, ecological, behavioural and capacity building. More practically, working closely with targeted project teams and other technical specialists, you will play a vital role in creating and implementing context-appropriate, pragmatic project MEL systems. This will include supporting project teams in the design of impact focused MEL based on the project’s Theory of Change, creation of holistic MEL framework and establishment of protocols for the collection, analysis and evaluation of data, and potentially conducting (or facilitating self-) evaluations of project data where relevant. These will all be considerate of the context of the project, ensuring that the time, skills, and funding investment needed is practical. Your skills will be grounded in practical experience of delivering conservation initiatives, and you will have direct experience of delivering MEL from design through to analysis, interpretation and management and use of gathered data.
You will also be experienced at building the capacity of others operating within varied resource constraints and contexts. This could include formal training, accompaniment and coaching. You will be able to think holistically and work collaboratively with project staff, partners, and other technical specialists from diverse disciplines to effectively embed enhanced MEL into conservation projects and to document and share learning. This will include the production of guidance materials, active participation in Communities of Practice, and facilitating peer learning and training.
This position is based in Cambridge. Some local and international travel may be required. What you’ll do

What you’ll bring
You will have a keen interest and background in psychology or mental health, along with proven expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, and multimedia content creation, with the ability to engage stakeholders and provide innovative solutions to learning challenges.
You will have demonstrable well-developed skills in:
- content commissioning and curation with the ability to translate complex subject matter into engaging and accessible digital content; video production and editing,
- using tools such Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar, for multimedia digital learning content.
You will also demonstrate:
- expertise in curriculum development and instructional design, including structuring learning experiences and applying learning theories;
- knowledge of online learning environments, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate;
- a background in psychology or a related field to support the development of learning resources tailored to the mental health and education sector;
- a degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience, with knowledge of psychology and/or mental health.
Key details
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week); usual working hours Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00. Flexible working is possible.
Salary: £48,000 per annum FTE, plus 6% contributory pension scheme
Location: Hybrid working (a mixture of onsite and home/remote working). Staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours, at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH).
Contract type: Fixed-term (12 months in the first instance but with scope to extend).

Role Overview
The postholder will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure that all creative outputs align with our brand identity and communication goals. Additionally, as the organisation undergoes a brand repositioning, the role involves collaborating with our brand agency to facilitate a seamless transition to the new brand identity. Beyond the transition, this role will champion the brand and lead by example in design execution, ensuring continued consistency and adherence to the refreshed brand identity across all creative outputs
About You
You’ll have proven experience as a Graphic Designer; working either in a similar role or in an in-house or agency setting. Your excellent understanding of brand identity, typography, and visual storytelling will come into play whilst creating accessible and inclusive content, and using your skills in Adobe Creative Suite to design for social media, email marketing campaigns, web platforms, paid advertising and printed media. You’ll be someone with a strong management skills, an ability to juggle multiple projects and work to tight deadlines. Experience working in charities, health organisations, or advocacy groups would be an advance, but not essential.

Our Location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings with your team or our partner agencies, or be required attend a few team away-days each year. In In addition, the charity meets four times annually at its office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days, at which attendance is mandatory.

Working arrangements

Build Up is a charity that runs practical construction projects across London, supporting young people aged 10-23 years old to shape their local area. We’re looking for a Programme Manager to join us and lead the delivery of these projects.
The role
You’ll coordinate Build Up’s year-round programme of youth-led design and construction projects, managing two Construction Project Managers to deliver them. You’ll develop project ideas selected by our young people and support our team to set up strong working partnerships. Overseeing Build Up’s pipeline of new projects and working with our fundraisers and partners to bring them to fruition will be central to your role.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who can work flexibly across projects, balancing immediate and longer term priorities. You’ll have people management experience and be able to delegate and provide extra support when needed. Build Up’s partners include both informal groups and local authorities, so we need someone who’s comfortable setting up effective working relationships with organisations of all sizes. We don’t expect applicants to have design and construction expertise – full supervision is provided by other team members.
