Main Purpose of the Role

The Head of Volunteering will manage, develop and grow StreetVet’s Volunteer programme. They will have overall responsibility to recruit, onboard, induct, train, support, communicate with, develop and recognise volunteers as well as ensure good governance and compliance. The Head of Volunteering will act as an ambassador for volunteering across all StreetVet locations and externally. The Head of Volunteering will monitor and evaluate the impact of StreetVet’s volunteering programme and will identify and assess opportunities to develop the programme further.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the StreetVet Volunteering Strategy

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the volunteer programme across all locations and work with the clinical team to ensure appropriate and robust processes are in place to provide suitable and high-quality care for the animals StreetVet work with.

• Develop and grow the volunteer programme to continually improve the volunteering experience at StreetVet.

We are looking for a tenacious, methodical, and organised person who can deliver sustainable income growth from trusts for the organisation. This role offers hybrid or remote working.

Position: Trusts and Fundraising Officer

About the Role

We want someone who shares the organisations core values of being child focussed, sparky, empowering, resourceful and kind and who can live by the ethos of who Roald Dahl was and what he is delivering through his legacy. We also need someone who is flexible and can react positively to a post- Coronavirus fundraising world.

The role’s main task is to maximise income from trusts by the creation of high-quality applications and

reports to funders, and by providing excellent account management and cross-team collaboration.

Supported by the Head of Development and the rest of the team, key responsibilities include:

· Trusts research - you will proactively identify trusts and research them for suitability.

· Trust applications – you will be able to gather project information, curate it, and write it up into informative, engaging, high quality applications, giving trusts the opportunity to fund the work.

· Trust relationships – you will communicate and will build relationships with funders through emails, letters, telephone calls, service visits and face to face engagements.

· Provide high quality account management - maximising income generation and relationship longevity.

· Reporting – you will gather the necessary information to compile reports that give funders real insight into what they have achieved.

· Support the rest of the team – to gain experience and maximise fundraising opportunities

· Building and maintaining team processes

About You

You will have experience working or volunteering for a charity and in writing successful bids and securing income, ideally from trusts.

You will have:

· The ability to take complex information and translate this into persuasive written communication which leads to action.

· Solid research skills, which can be applied to identification of suitable new prospects for a funding pipeline.

· Ability to operate in a highly cohesive, high performing team based on the principles of trust, mutual respect, and empowerment.

· Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritise conflicting workloads successfully.

· A high level of competence in using Microsoft Office software notably Excel, Word and generic databases.

Assist the Legacy Administration Team Leader by playing a pivotal role within the Legacy Administration Team, managing a diverse and active caseload of specific, residuary, and reversionary bequests.
Ensure the protection and maximisation of legacy income for Marie Curie by adhering to best practices and maintaining effective and sensitive communication with solicitors and personal executors, enhancing the charity's reputation.

The Legacy Administration Team plays a crucial role in generating income for the charity, working closely with marketing and local legacy fundraising partners. We promote personal development through ongoing training and collaboration across the Directorate and organisation.

Responsibilities

- Manage a caseload of specific, residuary, and reversionary legacies across the UK.
- Ensure Marie Curie receives its full entitlement in accordance with legal requirements, Wills, and settlements.
- Handle correspondence promptly, meeting internal service level agreements, and update case files accordingly.
- Liaise with other charities and act as lead charity when needed.
- Record and update legacy information in the FirstClass 4 database.
- Regularly review open cases, ensuring timely action to conclude them.
- Scrutinise estate accounts, ensuring correct administration and tax exemptions are applied.
- Obtain tax deduction certificates where cost-effective.
- Allocate legacies to restricted or unrestricted funds as per the Will.
- Comply with Law Society guidelines on Non-Contentious costs.
- Protect Marie Curie's interests in shared estates and lead charity discussions when appropriate.
- Represent Marie Curie in all correspondence with legal professionals and the public.
- Identify opportunities to increase the value of bequests and proactively manage asset sales.
- Recognise risks or disputes affecting entitlement and escalate as necessary.
- Collaborate with Legacy Marketing and Local Legacy teams and contribute to stewardship plans.
