Newt Conservation Partnership (NCP) creates and manages high quality habitat for great crested newts for the NatureSpace schemes.

NCP is going through a period of growth and the Chief Operating Officer is an important new role to ensure NCP achieves its ambitions over the coming years. The Chief Operating Officer will: 

• Deliver high quality information, governance, and business and finance insights to the CEO and Board to inform decision-making.
• Help ensure the efficient running and continuous improvement of the organisation’s finance, business functions and operations.
• Work closely with the CEO, Board and external partners to fulfil NCP’s mission.
• Manage the NCP Operations Team.
• Provide support and leadership insight across the organisation.

This is position requires a creative, dynamic and enthusiastic person who works well as part of a team whilst being self-motivated and ambitious.

About FILE

The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) was set up in 2018 to be the major philanthropic re-granter scaling up legal action globally to tackle the climate and the biodiversity crises.

We work as movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, using the law in pursuit of three interconnected system-level goals:

• Reducing net greenhouse gas emissions to protect the climate
• Safeguarding nature
• Delivering climate and environmental justice

We pursue these goals not just by supporting legal action directly. We believe in growing the strength of the climate and biodiversity legal movement globally, and in enabling people and movements to use legal action to shift narratives.

As movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, we at FILE do not ourselves bring litigation. As a regrantor, FILE is not an endowed foundation, but rather we engage in fundraising to secure resources to support our partners globally.

The Role

The Grants Coordinator will play a key role within the Grants Team, a growing team at FILE.  This role will work closely with the Grants Managers and Heads of Grants across key FILE portfolios to ensure that programmes and partnerships are delivered at pace and to schedule. Whilst initially this is largely an administrative role, it is an opportunity to gain an insight in the workings of an international philanthropic organisation focused on systemic change through partnerships with a variety of outstanding legal strategists and NGO partners.

As Grants Coordinator, you ensure the quality of FILE’s grant-making processes and provide support to the Grants Managers and Heads of Grants during the entire life cycle of a grant. As well as working closely with the Grants Team, you will be working together with all the relevant stakeholders at FILE, i.e., grantee partners and our colleagues in finance, legal strategy, impact & learning and operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Grant administration – support the internal processes of contracting, payment approvals and tracking financial disbursements. Lead on grantee communication regarding payments and reporting. 

• Ensure timelines and the approval process for grants and contracts run to schedule, ensuring all relevant information is presented to senior FILE team colleagues and decisions are documented. 

• Ensure grant data and documentation is up-to-date and filed appropriately, including input into FILE systems as required. 

• Perform data capture and maintain database records. Support the management of FILE’s key grants database, including supporting development and revision of database processes, structure and workflows. 

• Regular communication with applicants and grant holders, particularly when supporting the due diligence process for applicants. 

• Collaborate with the Grants Manager on annual planning, grants development, in-life grants management, pipeline planning and partnership building with partners. 

• Work up to managing and holding relationships with partners for a small number of grants. 

• Performance & outcome monitoring – support the Grants Manager to effectively monitor the progress and outcomes of projects and grants together with the Legal Strategy and Impact and Learning teams. This will include the scheduling of reporting requirements, and supporting the evaluation, impact and learning processes.

• Support other portfolio teams if required and time allows.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join the BFYC team to support young carers in West Oxfordshire.

Working closely with the youth work team, you will help to provide support and advice to young carers by devising, developing, implementing and managing a programme of social activities for young carers (this could include trips, training, emotional 121 support and other activities).

Job Description - Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for Young Carers, liaising with other agencies to help ensure the best outcomes for Young Carers;
• Establish relationships with schools across West Oxfordshire offering them support in how they identify and respond to the needs of young carers in their classrooms.
• Assist schools in launching Young Carers Groups and introducing Young Carer Leads in their settings.
• Contribute towards awareness raising events and activities to increase the identification and support of Young Carers, including liaison with Schools and community group;
• Liaise and work with colleagues to empower Young Carers and their families;
• Play a role in the assessment of Young Carers as part of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF), Team around the Child (TAC), Young Carers assessments, and assessments carried out by other professionals;

JOB SUMMARY

Taking overall responsibility for the delivery of a compliant and effective operation, she will provide direct line management for the Pathway Project domestic and sexual violence support, outreach and helpline teams. She will be responsible for the delivery of high quality support within the safe accommodation sites and excellent quality of service within Pathway Projects counselling provision. She will have a focus on excellence and understand the drive for continual improvement and increased performance. She will collaborate with colleagues to drive the development and maintenance of networking and fundraising links within the local community. She will support the CEO in her leadership and development of the organisation. She will be expected to demonstrate the Charity’s values by working positively as part of a team, delivering vital high-quality services to service users, and creating a working culture where all are valued and encouraged.

DUTIES OF POST

1. STRATEGY, PLANNING AND CONTROL

a. To contribute to the setting of long-term Objectives, along with the CEO & Board.

b. To implement and deliver the strategic plan for the operation, adhering to regulatory and financial controls.

c. To ensure the Charity is operated to best practice standards, adhering to regulatory and financial controls. Highlighting to the CEO risk which could cause harm to the ongoing operation of the Charity.

d. Ensure Pathway Project remains responsive to the needs of its service users, staff and trustees and can demonstrate the value of the services provided and the impact of its work.

e. Be an expert on matters relating to Domestic Abuse, and best practice in supporting end users.

2. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

a. To be accountable for the delivery of the operation, within defined financial criteria, including business plan & cash flow targets.

b. Support the CEO in providing oversight on the wider financial performance of the Charity.

c. To understand the income generation strategy and collaborate to develop it as required.

d. To support the CEO in the sourcing of funding opportunities and complete any required applications and any required data returns as per funding guidelines.

3. GOVERNANCE

a. To work with the CEO to lead and manage the Charity in accordance with the articles of association and in line with the obligations of the Charity Commission.

b. To support in the development of a best practice operating infrastructure, to allow the Trustee Board to fulfil its statutory responsibilities and exercise effective control.

4. LEADERSHIP

6. GENERAL MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

a. To arrange outreach team/staff meetings which positively support the team.

g. To deputise for the CEO where required, alongside other management.

h. To lead on operational projects for the organisation as the main point of contact and oversee work that needs completing, e.g. maintenance of building, service contracts alongside the Finance Manager.

a. To participate and contribute as a senior member of staff towards the development of the Pathway Project.

b. To attend and participate in all relevant meetings, including feeding back to management and trustee meetings and the AGM.

c. To represent Pathway Project and the work it does with external agencies, including written reports and presentations.

Person Specification

Essential

• Demonstrable experience of working in the domestic abuse charity sector and expert knowledge of the domestic abuse sector 
• Experience in managing teams at a high level with strong team building and leadership skills 
• An understanding of compliance and continual service improvement to ensure quality assurance and service improvements 
• Experience of or a good understanding of Funders, reporting structures and the expectations placed on charities by funders 
• Excellent written skills, with experience of writing reports, guidance or briefings specifically for Trustees or Director boards.

The Role:

The role of the Finance Officer is to assist the Head of Finance in overseeing the financial health of the organisation, and to ensure that the Head of Finance is efficiently supported in his day to day financial responsibilities. 

The Finance Officer will be line managed by the Head of Finance. They will also work closely with the Joint Executive Director, The Development Team, notably the Database and Insight Officer and the wider casework team, fellows and consultants. They will lead on paying Fellows, consultants and other contractors, as well as suppliers. They will also assist with reconciling Reprieve’s various accounts and ensuring that its transactions on Sage sync with its other databases or are appropriately reconciled. 

The following  skills are required: commitment to the organisation’s goals; relevant accountancy qualification or experience; excellent time management and organisational skills; ability to meet deadlines and work to high standards under pressure; willingness to undertake routine tasks; good communication skills including face to face, telephone & written; ability to translate financial data into accessible and easily digestible information; IT literate, particularly in Sage and Excel packages; good organisational skills; ability to work as part of a team in a collegiate and diverse environment. This is a part time (4 days a week) position. The salary is £42,193 pro rata, per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

Purpose of role: 

To provide opportunities to build employability skills and gain work experience for women who have experienced gender based violence and multiple disadvantages and help them move towards employment. This role is based within Luminary’s charity (Luminary Limited) and will play a key role in coordinating work experience within our social enterprise (Luminary Bakery Limited) and external partners for women graduating from our employability skills training programme. Main duties: 

Work experience

• Responsible for ensuring that all women on the programme have access to and are taking up work experience opportunities with the support of support workers.
• Coordinate with internal colleagues at Luminary Limited and Luminary Bakery Limited to schedule regular work experience days for graduates of our programme within Luminary Bakery Limited. 
• Coordinate with external stakeholders to schedule ad hoc and regular work experience placements that are suitable for graduates of our programme at partner companies
• Support the Partnerships and Evaluation Manager to identify and build relationships with new corporate partners who could host work experience placements. 
• Take the lead on sharing information with women and their Luminary progression support workers about the logistics of work experience placements, ensuring they are well prepared and ready to start - as well as offering any additional support as needed. 
• Keep accurate records and liaise with colleagues as necessary to ensure all women have access to and complete work experience.
• Following up with work experience participants and hosts following the placement to identify any relevant feedback for the participant; learning for future placements; and track any outcomes/impact of the experience for the LL's impact report.

Apprenticeships

• Promote apprenticeships to those on the programme and support the Partnerships and Evaluation Manager with any training for relevant staff
• Provide administrative support to monthly peer learning meetings hosted by LL Partnerships and Evaluation Manager for those across the business who are line managing graduates of our programmes
• Support the Partnerships and Evaluation Manager to record and analyse data on work experience placements and apprenticeships, and package this appropriately for different audiences including Luminary’s social impact report, social media, internal newsletters.

Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision-making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge-sharing events both online and face-to-face across the organisation, in addition to overseeing technical publications.

• Support our impact measurement work for ongoing programme evaluation, supporter communications, and funding proposals.
• Develop an excellent understanding of the school food landscape, structures of school food provision, and the nutritional guidelines for school food in England.
• Update and maintain an accurate database of activity with our partners.
• Represent ProVeg UK on calls, in meetings and at events, including some public speaking.
• Work closely with Communications Manager to produce engaging new content, including video content, for social media, and the website.
• Support the Programme Manager and Head of Programme with any other projects or tasks, as needed.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Proven track record in relationship management.
• Experienced in planning and delivering plant-based cooking workshops to groups.
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to write effectively and be a confident presenter.
• Flexible and agile approach, with a willingness to be a true team player and fill gaps as needed.
• Proactive with initiative and drive.
• Strong organisational skills.

• Solution-focused and resilient.
• Confident in creating basic spreadsheets and slide decks.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively in a fast-paced and small but fast-growing non-profit work environment.
• Ability to work well unsupervised with experience of working in remote teams with a reliable internet connection.

• Based in London and able to attend meetings, events, and training to represent the team and programme in and around the capital.
• Willing to travel to events outside of London for occasional workshops and events.
