An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shop Manager to join our Dorking Team. As a Shop Manager, you will be reporting to the Retail Operations Manager. Your role will be to be responsible and accountable for maximising shop profit by achieving budgeted income, controlling shop expenditure in line with budget and recruiting and retaining a motivated team of volunteers.
Knowing what it takes to maximise shop sales, you will possess a sound knowledge of technical terms and commercial arithmetic, and an excellent understanding of working within a customer focused environment. With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

Role Requirements
Income generation
To manage the Retail budget to achieve agreed targets:
• To maximise shop sales by achieving agreed targets both through donated stock and bought in/new goods. This involves proactive stock generation, optimum pricing, processing stock to agreed amounts and stock planning.
• Achieve Gift Aid sales conversion target through maximising new donor sign up and encouraging repeat donations.
• Achieve the shops Raffle sales targets through involving the shops team.
• To maintain high levels of shop presentation by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards as set out in the Shops Operations manual.
• Manage the stock levels of bought in/new goods, to include ordering of more stock as and when necessary and recording key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Assist in holding and attending Fundraising events to promote the awareness of The Children’s Trust.
• To source links with local communities to promote Retail in the community via media and other sources.
• Role involves a degree of manual handling in sorting and lifting of stock.
Administration and compliance
To ensure adherence to The Children’s Trust policies and procedures, in particular ensuring full compliance of the shops in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Trading Standards, Risk Assessments, Gift Aid, Raffle and all other legal or statutory requirements:
• To control shop expenditure through effective cost control of weekly expenses.
• To ensure minimum losses of both stock and cash by following bank and till procedures, and safeguarding the property of The Children’s Trust at all times.
• To adhere to all Policies and Procedures including those relating to the compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities, Gift Aid and Raffle.
• To be responsible for the daily management of Health and safety within the shops, completing daily checks and contributing to Risk Assessments.
• To complete all administration to meet the requirements, standard and deadlines for whom this work is produced.
• Embracing the change and development of new technology in the shop, for example The Loop (internal intranet) and Chariot (EPOS till system).
• Timely efficient responses to requests for information including voice and email messages.
• To fulfil any other agreed duties that may at times be reasonably required.
Personnel and Training
To ensure the Shops team are: recruited, retained and developed:
• Provides positive, visible and proactive leadership to the Assistant Manager and Shops Volunteer team.
• To manage all employees and volunteers within the Shop in accordance with the aims and values of The Children’s Trust.
• To be responsible for the daily management of the shop team, including contribution to performance reviews for any Assistant Shop Managers.
• To recruit, support and retain team of shop volunteers.
• Provide induction and training for both Assistant Shop Manager and volunteer team as and when necessary.
• Attend where appropriate, training courses relevant to the development of the role
• Promote awareness of relevant training courses and development opportunities to others within the team.
• Attendance at Retail Sales Meetings and responsible for cascading information to Shops team as appropriate.
• To assist the Retail Sales Manager in shop openings and closures.
• Undertake relief cover within The Trust’s shops as and when required.
• Carries out duties in accordance with Trust values.
Customer Service
To ensure customer care and quality of service:
• To provide excellent customer care through quality of service, dealing with complaints both efficiently and effectively, and having a good understanding of what The Children’s Trust does.
• Support other shops and fundraising colleagues as and when necessary.
• Adheres to all health and safety guidelines, including infection prevention and control.
• Provide evidence of a valid NHS Covid Pass or acceptable proof of Covid vaccination or medical exemption and all vaccinations (or medical exemption) required for the post.
• Adhere to manual handling procedures and complete mandatory manual handling training.
• Promotes the health and safety of others.
• Uses the incident reporting and risk assessment system (IRAR), to identify and report risks and incidents/actions if directed.
• Responsible for identifying and mitigating risk within the work environment.

Online Searches

Experience of giving energy related advice is not essential as you will be provided with extensive training as well as mentoring support from an experienced colleague.
Pay and conditions
- The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week).
- The salary for the role will be £27,121 rising to £29,803 after six months.
- You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- Engage with disadvantaged households who need help with energy issues.
- Improve the understanding and confidence of households in fuel poverty to better manage their energy use.
- Reduce the financial hardship and stress of households in fuel poverty by supporting their access to lower tariffs (where possible), grants for heating and insulation improvements and income maximisation.
- Improve the wellbeing and safeguarding of households in fuel poverty whose health conditions are exacerbated by living in a cold home.
- Identify energy improvements that can be made to the home and refer to installers who can fit them.
- Refer households onto other organisations in the area as appropriate for further support.
- Advocate on behalf of householders when communicating with energy suppliers, including making formal complaints on behalf of clients where necessary.
- Manage several complex casework cases over a period of time with minimal support.
- Maintain appropriate client confidentiality at all times in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Carry out outreach activities and/or explore networking opportunities if demand for the service is too low.

Who will I be changing the lives of?
All of our learners have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and as a result all have some level of additional need. Some of the most common areas of need that we see are Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH), Autism (ASC), ADHD although we work with learners with a much broader range of needs.
We currently have projects in Rotherham, Barnsley, London and The Midlands.
Main Responsibilities
● To provide support for teaching staff in group teaching sessions, focusing on Maths, English, Occupational Studies and PSD and careers
● To deliver the NCFE Creative Crafts qualification for 1.5 hours per week with the addition of sufficient planning and preparation time
● To deliver one-to-one or two-to-one sessions with individual learners as and when it is required (on and off-site)
● You may be asked to run PSD/careers sessions with guidance, either on a one to one or group basis
● To offer support to all our young people, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
● To assist teaching staff in the preparation of materials and programmes of work
● To support with planning and participating in Really NEET engagement activities
● To write Behaviour Support Plans for all students and keeping them updated
● To support students who wish to get their CSCS card and driving licence etc
● To support in finding work experience, employment and onward progression opportunities for students
● Identifying and supporting positive transition and progression pathways for young people
● To maintain a work experience and employment display board

The Supporter Development Fundraising Lead will play a crucial role. We are looking for a high energy, passionate fundraiser who is highly relational. We’re looking for somebody who is highly organised and able to deliver events from concept to finish. The CoppaFeel! fundraising team is going through a very exciting period of growth! So we are looking for a passionate new team member to take on the role of Challenge Events Assistant.
The role of Challenge Events Assistant will sit within the CoppaFeel! Challenge Events team, in the Fundraising Department. You will work with both our Bespoke Challenge Events Manager and our Sporting Challenge Events Manager to support on CoppaFeel!’s challenge events portfolio. This includes our flagship ‘CoppaTrek!’ events that will look to bring in over £1.2 million in 2024, as well as our sporting events programme that includes London Landmarks Half Marathon, Vitality 10k, Royal Parks Half Marathon and Brighton Marathon - to name but a few!
In this role, you will be the first point of contact for all challenge events participants, providing excellent supporter experience and building relationships whilst offering motivation and fundraising advice. Alongside delivering outstanding supporter care, you will also handle essential administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of our day-to-day operations and so that our events go off without a hitch.
This role does require some evening and weekend work - although not behind the laptop! Instead you might be cheering on a team of runners at the sidelines of a marathon race, or lacing up your hiking boots, and walking and talking, alongside our CoppaTrek! participants. Therefore, please bear in mind that as part of this role, you will be expected to travel and may have to stay away from home on occasion. Should you be required to work on weekends, you will be entitled to time off in lieu.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office at least 2 days per week.

CoppaFeel! exists to educate and remind every young person in the UK that checking their boobs isn’t only fun, it could save their life. We are the first breast cancer charity in the UK to create awareness amongst young people, with the aim of instilling a new healthy habit that could one day save their life.
Duties and Responsibilities
Third-Party Challenge Events
- First point of call for event fundraisers. Responding to enquiries by phone, email, social media and at face-to-face events
- Ensure participants are entered into the event in a timely manner, ensuring there is an open line of communication for any questions or concerns
- Support with the recruitment of participants for challenge events - through social media campaigns, donor emails and in person events.
- Update the CoppaFeel! website with challenge event information and keep up to date with new events and opportunities
- Provide excellent supporter experience and build relationships with participants, whilst offering motivation, fundraising advice and ensure they reach their fundraising targets
- Support the Challenge Events Manager with the coordination of on the day cheer points for our big mass-participation events, working closely with the Volunteer Manager to recruit cheer squad volunteers

Bespoke Challenge Events (CoppaTrek!)
- Support the Bespoke Challenge Event manager with the planning and delivery of CoppaFeel!’s two flagship ‘CoppaTrek! with Gi’ events, and two one-day UK ‘CoppaTrek events!’
- Be the first point of contact for CoppaTrek! participants in the build up to, and following the event; including the sending of regular emails, phone calls, distribution of fundraising materials and the organisation of trekker Zoom meetups
- Send fundraising materials, incentives and merchandise to our trek participants
- Be willing to attend our treks in person, assisting the Challenge Events Manager with the smooth running of the event
General Responsibilities
- Respond to a range of fundraising enquiries in a timely manner, liaising with supporters via email and over the phone as appropriate
- Send out ad hoc postal requests for Fundraising materials from CoppaFeel!’s office
- Maintain event database records and ensure supporter data is kept accurate and up to date
