The role

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, as Chief Executive you will oversee the Trust’s operations, champion its mission and ensure its influence and impact. You will provide inspirational leadership and provide clear direction, engaging members, supporters, staff, stakeholders and volunteers for the effective delivery of the Trust's charitable objectives whilst ensuring that all Trust activities are legally compliant and executed to the highest standard.

As Chief Executive, you will develop and oversee our Strategy, setting long-term goals and ensuring that activities align with the Trust's vision and values. Unfold is led by the people we serve and we get people where they want to be. We’re a bold, agile and growing organisation, with a friendly, energetic and welcoming team. About the Role
As a Programme Officer at Unfold, you’ll ensure that our volunteer mentors feel supported and prepared for their work with young people. Alongside helping to recruit and onboard new mentors, including organising their training and reviewing their progress, you’ll be Volunteer Mentors main point of contact, making sure they have a rewarding and impactful experience. Your work will also include engaging with referrers, parents, and young people themselves, providing guidance and answering questions to ensure everyone feels connected to our mission.

You’ll also be hands-on with our youth programs, coordinating weekly Youth Support Groups and engaging with young people in outreach activities. You’ll work closely with our Programme Manager to build relationships with community organisations and support our Youth Advisory Council. Whether you’re planning group activities, creating outreach opportunities, or helping young people access resources, this role aims to empower youth across London.

About You
You’re passionate about youth development and have a strong understanding of London’s diverse communities, particularly in Westminster and nearby areas. You'll have great communication skills and will be comfortable connecting with people from a range of backgrounds. You'll also be able to positively represent Unfold at events, meetings, and group sessions. 

In this role, you'll apply your organisational skills to keep track of details, manage multiple projects, and ensure data is accurate and up to date. Regardless of your previous experience in a similar role, it's your empathy, enthusiasm, and commitment to improving outcomes for young people that will make you a strong candidate for this position.

MAP’s Mission

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

Job Purpose

MAP is in a period of ambitious growth and rapid development, as we respond to the massive humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and in the West Bank and Lebanon. The role of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is to provide leadership, drive and direction in the development and delivery of MAP’s new strategic ambition, maximising the charity’s sustainable impact.

This is a key role for MAP, and it is expected that the job holder would be making a long-term commitment to the organisation. The post-holder will be tasked with leading MAP to deliver on the strategic ambition of becoming a high impact, global £50 M+ income organisation which enables over 1 million Palestinians to access improved healthcare annually by 2028.  MAP’s income in 2023 was £35 M and the forecast for 2024 is £47 M.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Vision and leadership

• Provide vision, leadership, direction and drive to achieve MAP’s strategic ambition and mission.
• Drive forward organisational transformation, together with the Senior Management Team, always remaining true to MAP’s values and focus on being locally led.
• Ensure that the Board of Trustees and its appointed committees are supported in their responsibility to ensure robust governance of MAP and provide advice and information to the Trustees regarding organisational performance and direction.
• Ensure that the organisation embeds a focus on impact and the use of data in decision-making, course corrected as necessary during its development.
• Strengthen and protect MAP’s reputation externally and internally at all times, ensuring the effective mitigation and management of risks.

External relations and influence

• Act as an advocate and spokesperson for MAP at the highest level with the UK and other governments, the UN and similar institutions - building relationships that maximise the organisation’s influence over policies and practices that affect the health and dignity of Palestinians.
• Ensure MAP continues to develop strong relationships of trust with partners and networks central to MAP’s way of working. 
• Represent MAP effectively in the national and international media, enhancing the charity’s image and profile.
• Actively promote and represent MAP while maintaining our commitment to ensuring the Palestinian people we serve have access to international forums and are provided with a platform to speak out about issues impacting their right to health. 

Organisational development

• Work with the senior management team (SMT) to provide effective and inspirational leadership across the range of MAP’s functions and offices, creating a culture focused on impact, and an inclusive, values-driven working environment.
• Ensure the development and delivery of high-quality programmes that further MAP’s organisational objectives and meet the needs of the Palestinian communities living under occupation and as refugees.
• Oversee the development and implementation of MAP’s advocacy and communications strategy in a highly sensitive, rapidly changing environment.
• Ensure the development of robust systems for the close monitoring of financial budgets and forecasts.
• Ensure that MAP’s new fundraising strategy is successfully implemented and delivers against targets on sustainable income growth.

Person Specification

Experience

• Experienced leader in the non-profit sector or public sector in a relevant field, preferably with experience of international development and work in complex, protracted emergencies.
• Track record of driving organisational change and delivering clear results.
• Experience implementing strategies and using data to inform decision-making.
• Experience of working with a Board and a good understanding of charity governance.
• Working at the Executive Director level or equivalent as part of the senior management team within a complex organisation with geographical spread.
• Evidence of understanding the needs of Palestinian communities living under occupation and as refugees.
• Evidence of understanding the complex political and diplomatic landscape charities working with Palestinians operate in.
• A clear understanding of the importance of shifting the balance of power and influence for disadvantaged groups and empowering marginalised communities.
• Line management of senior staff, preferably including management of staff at remote locations, and experience managing a diverse workforce.
• Track record of leading and representing organisations with multiple stakeholders and relationships and of building strong relationships of trust with partners and allies.
• Experience in managing programmes and substantial budgets and resources.
• Experience communicating and influencing effectively with external audiences to influence outcomes such as government, parliament, donors and the media.
• Working in the international sector preferably in the Middle East and/or working in conflict settings.

As Public Engagement Officer, you’ll play an important role making this vision a reality by engaging with churches through regional & national speaking engagements, networks, events, and new fundraising products with a view to help them raise funds for All We Can/Y Care to contribute to the overall fundraising target of the Acquisition Team. This role is 12-month fixed contract with potential to extend at the end of that period depending on the performance of the role and organisational circumstances at the time.

In this role you will:

• Seek and fulfil a variety of engagements in the London and the South East which engender loyalty and acquire short- and long-term income contributing to the fundraising target of £405k per year.
• Maximise income from Churches and Events
• Participate in All We Can’s presence at several conferences and events each year, inspiring current and new supporters through stalls, workshops, and stage time. 
• Build and develop new strategic relationships with ministers, lay workers, and key volunteers in Methodist Churches across the country, encouraging them into deeper income-generating engagement with All We Can.
• Collaborate with others in the Public Engagement Team to develop new resources and fundraising products to engage supporters and generate income

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Have experience of community fundraising involving relationship-building, planning, and generating a response to a call to action with experience of community fundraising in a Christian context being desirable. 
• Be a passionate and convincing public speaker, with experience of speaking/presenting in a Christian context; being a qualified preacher and/or worship leader in a church tradition would be an advantage but is not a requirement. 
• Have experience of generating and following up on new opportunities. Experience of project management in a professional context will be an advantage but is not a requirement.
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to communicate both stories and data.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability and willingness to communicate to diverse audiences. To be comfortable communicating to Christian groups and individuals.

Post summary

This is an exciting position for an exceptional person with fundraising, campaigning, policy, communications and management/leadership experience to temporarily direct one of the UK’s leading human rights NGOs. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to oversee high-impact civil liberties campaigns to achieve real change and manage a high-performing multi-disciplinary team to further privacy, free expression and data protection rights in the United Kingdom. Importantly, you’ll be an experienced fundraiser, responsible for leading our grants and major giving to maintain Big Brother Watch’s income growth, and have experience with financial reporting.

You’ll have a diverse skill-set enabling you to line manage our Advocacy Manager, Digital Communications Manager and Head of Research and Investigations. An ideal candidate will also be responsible for leading the development of policy positions on new and emerging issues alongside our talented team.

You may also share spokesperson responsibilities, taking up our role as a recognised voice on civil liberties matters in the national media, though this is not essential.

The start and end of the position will include comprehensive handover periods with the current Director, and may include a period of co-working full time with the current Director.

About you

We’re looking for highly experienced professional with a track record of NGO fundraising and management with a demonstrable passion for protecting civil liberties, especially privacy and freedom of expression. Ideally, you’ll have a high level of experience of or interest in working on new and emerging technologies.

Importantly, you’ll have excellent political judgement. You’ll have strong knowledge of British politics, a strong network of relevant contacts and significant experience both fundraising and advocating for change.

You’ll have an entrepreneurial approach, always identifying opportunities to boost Big Brother Watch’s campaigns, resources and reputation. The ideal candidate will appreciate the importance of winning in the court of public opinion in order to win in parliament, and have the skills to do both.

You’ll be a brilliant communicator internally and externally, able to simplify complex technology issues and convey powerful messages whether in campaign slogans or in interviews as a Big Brother Watch spokesperson.

Fundraising

• Seeking fundraising opportunities and writing fundraising applications

Rainbow Migration, the longest-running charity in Europe dedicated to supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system, is recruiting a Fundraising Officer to play a key role in supporting the effective delivery of our fundraising strategy.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation. We have grown rapidly over the last five years from a small charity generating £200k in 2019 to £833k in 2023. We are now expanding our fundraising team so that we can reach and sustain our target income of just over £1 million by 2027. The Fundraising Officer is a new and varied role that will work with all areas of the organisation and an opportunity to develop fundraising skills in a range of income generating activities.

We are looking for an individual with previous experience in fundraising or a related field with excellent writing skills and an ability to build lasting relationships with our supporters. You will support the delivery of our fundraising strategy as a whole with an emphasis on individual giving. You will also fundraise from corporate supporters, trusts and foundations and support the Fundraising Manager with other fundraising initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Working part-time (minimum 28 hours a week) or job-sharing will be considered. When applying, please state what hours you are looking to work.
