Salary: £48,000 per annum

Main Purpose of Role
The Senior People and Culture Manager is a key member of the Charity’s management team. They will have responsibility for designing, constructing and implementing a People and Culture strategy to create a transparent, consistent and agile process for the entire employee journey. They will play a pivotal role in fostering a thriving, healthy and positive organisational culture to ensure our staff feel valued, engaged, and well equipped to deliver the highest standards of work. This role provides high-level operational delivery of our People function to build an organisational infrastructure that delivers against the strategic objectives of the organisation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- People Strategy: Work alongside the Chief of Staff to develop and implement a comprehensive people strategy that aligns with our mission and values and promotes equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
- Talent Acquisition: Oversee the recruitment process to identify innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of our hiring to attract and retain talented individuals who align with the Charity's core values.
- Learning and Development: Implement learning and development programmes to ensure all staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively whilst promoting career advancement opportunities within the charity.
- Performance Management: Manage the performance review process, providing guidance to managers on performance improvement strategies and identifying opportunities for development.
- Policy Development: Develop and update HR policies and procedures in line with best practice and employment law.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to staff and management, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts at work, including grievance, capability, and disciplinary matters.
- Culture Enhancement: Collaborate with leadership to reinforce organisational culture and values, driving initiatives that promote EDI.
- HR Administration and Budget management: Oversee all HR administration, including contracts, leave management, payroll and pensions.
Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
- A deep understanding of HR practices and principles.
- CIPD qualified (Level 5) or working towards a qualification. Proven experience in a similar HR generalist role, preferably within the charity sector.
- Experience of implementing a People and Culture strategy and monitoring and evaluating its success using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Understanding of the HR needs of a small/medium charity.
- Experience in implementing EDI principles and embedding them through policies and organisational practices.
- Familiarity with employment law.
- Experience developing, planning and executing staff events and training sessions.
- Experience of managing a budget, interpreting operational financial data and preparing relevant management reports.

About the Role
The Head of Unlawful Detentions is responsible for overseeing Reprieve’s work on unlawful detentions, which comprises detention cases in North East Syria (NES), advocacy work with families of detainees in NES, support to those repatriated from NES, and our Guantánamo and Life after Guantánamo Projects.
Background on Unlawful Detentions Work
Reprieve was one of the very first organisations allowed inside Guantánamo. Since then, we have secured freedom for more than 80 men illegally detained without charge or trial, and we continue to support some of these men through our Life After Guantánamo project.
Reprieve also advocates for the release and repatriation of foreign nationals detained in camps and prisons in NES. We aim to ensure that detained individuals are treated in line with international law, and not subjected to the death penalty, extrajudicial execution, arbitrary detention, torture, or rendition. We also advocate for and support clients and their children after their release from arbitrary detention.
Through our work we aim to challenge and change flawed ‘War on Terror’ narratives and legal and political frameworks – including in the UK, Europe and the US – that engender state-sanctioned discrimination and abuse, undermine the rule of law and human rights, and create two-tiered layers of citizenship rights for ethnic minorities in Western countries.
About You
You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies using a dynamic approach in which each of Reprieve’s methodologies—casework, investigation, litigation, political and public engagement, support for and (where possible and appropriate) advocacy with affected communities—connect with one another to achieve positive outcomes in individual client’s cases and address structural rights violations.
You will be enthusiastic about working for an organisation with Reprieve's mission and vision. You will have a minimum of five years’ experience line managing busy and diverse teams. You have significant legal and casework experience and experience managing a complex portfolio of cases. You will also have substantial advocacy experience, an understanding of campaigning, strong writing skills, and excellent attention to detail.
You are a person with a high level of cultural competency, with direct lived or working experience with communities impacted by the so-called ‘War on Terror’ and/or relevant conflicts. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how racism and institutional discrimination affect our clients. You will ideally have experience working closely with clients, empowering them to play an active role in designing the advocacy and strategy adopted to address issues in their cases. You will have sensitivity to the risks faced by those with whom we work and a demonstrated commitment to acting in the best interest of clients. You will have professional maturity, flexibility, and a willingness to put clients and Reprieve’s mission above all else.
In addition to being conversant in relevant legal systems, you are abreast of the domestic, regional, and geopolitical developments that impact on detention issues in the areas in which we work. You will also have a good understanding of the political and legal context of human rights violations carried out in the name of ‘counter-terrorism’, particularly in the UK, Europe, and the US, and of gender and trafficking issues. You will have the ability to develop targeted strategies to influence the policies and public conversations in these jurisdictions.
Salary, contract and location
The role is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £59,226 per annum less any required deductions for tax and national insurance. Reprieve works across a number of jurisdictions; as such this is a role that may require work outside of core hours from time to time.
Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work a minimum of 40% from the London office and the rest of the week from home.

The Role
As our Policy Officer you will use the latest evidence and insight to drive the creation of policies and position statements and related key messages. The subject of these will be informed by the charity’s strategy as well as our priority setting processes but will largely be focused around:

Prevention - Reducing smoking rates particularly focusing on people who are already interacting with the health system, as well as other messaging around reducing risk of cancer.

Treatment - Improving treatments available to patients across Yorkshire and improving access to clinical trials.
Specifically, you will:
Policy development

Work with the Policy and Public Affairs Manager to research and produce high quality, evidence-based cancer-related policies and position statements.

Work with relevant internal teams to create key messages for a range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring these are in line with the latest evidence.

Ensure existing policies and position statements are kept up to date, taking ownership for these updates when new evidence is published.
Influencing

Develop written policy materials and reports to aid influencing, considering priorities identified by PPI groups, the NHS, and coupled with insights from the latest data.

Support the charity’s response to regional and national consultations relevant to cancer in Yorkshire, ensuring responses are clear, succinct and evidence-based.

Represent the charity at external events and meetings, developing contacts, building relationships and increasing the charity’s profile.
External communications

Work in collaboration with the Brand and Relationships team to support the delivery of public-facing brand and PR campaigns and messaging to ensure key policy messages are accurate and well-integrated.

About You

Role Overview:
Housing and Service Delivery
- Provide strong and effective support to residents in Acorn House that focuses on their strengths and goals, and is delivered in a personalised way and within a framework of active engagement and co-production
- Developing and reviewing support plans that reflect the interests and aspirations of residents
- Induct new residents in line with the service’s policies and procedures and support them to
continue in their journey towards recovery from addiction - Carry out assessments of those referred to Acorn House, and induct new residents
- Ensure the fundamental needs of residents are met including good quality accommodation and facilities, healthy food, advice and guidance around benefits, and alcohol and drug testing (to help maintain an abstinent environment)
- Deal with the immediate support needs of residents as appropriate, providing crisis intervention where necessary
- Support residents in addressing physical and mental health issues, including liaison with primary and secondary health teams
- Ensure residents are supported through court or welfare rulings (if necessary)
- Ensure effective and compliant administration of resident data using a bespoke Salesforce- based platform (In-Form)
- Ensure Housing Benefit and Services Charges are collected and managed effectively
- Monitor resident’s physical and mental health, ensuring appropriate support is provided
- Be flexible and responsive at all times to meet the changing needs of the service and the service users and ensuring high quality support is provided.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as Head of Fundraising. This pivotal role is responsible for spearheading our fundraising efforts, nurturing key relationships and driving and growing income generation to support our strategic and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and grow our diverse fundraising team, covering areas such as Community, Key Events, Key Relationships, Business Development, In Memory, Legacy, Individual Giving, and Trusts.
· Collaborate with the Director of Income Generation and Digital to develop and implement a robust fundraising strategy.
· Foster a culture of excellence, cooperation, and innovation within the team to exceed financial targets and KPIs.
· Engage with high-profile individuals and businesses, expanding our donor base and securing support for fundraising initiates.
· Represent the hospice at networking events, delivering presentations to enhance our public image and brand awareness.
· Transition the team away from traditional fundraising methods through event delivery, pivoting into stewardship and relationship based fundraising methods.

We are currently seeking a Team Lead to head up the delivery of support services for carers across the Southend Borough. Working 37 hours per week with remote working with the flexibility to work from home and community venues in Southend.

The Interim Deputy Executive Director’s responsibilities will include managing senior staff at Reprieve, including the Directors of Casework, Advocacy and Policy, and working with the Joint Executive Director to oversee Reprieve’s Fundraising and Finances, its Governance and Board relationships, and its HR and Operations functions.
The ideal candidate will ideally have experience of leadership of a small to medium size human rights or similar charity, preferably with some international operations. They will have exceptionally strong management and people management skills, excellent judgment, proven ability to lead teams to achieve impact in their work, and an understanding of charity governance and finance issues.
Contract, location and salary
This is an interim, 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work 2 days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home.
The salary is £80,000 per annum plus up to 5% employee matched pension contribution.
