Objective

To increase fundraised income for BRACE and dementia research through major donors and high-value supporters, both cultivating existing supporters to increase their support and networking to develop new major donors.

Role

As our Major Donor & Philanthropy Fundraiser, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive major giving programme to increase revenue from high-value supporters. This is a new and exciting opportunity to establish and grow this income stream for BRACE, requiring proven experience in securing major gifts.

Key Tasks:

Major Donor Fundraising

• Develop and implement a strategic plan to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high net worth individuals.

• Build and maintain a strong portfolio of potential funding sources through thorough prospect research.​

• Manage a diverse portfolio of existing and new major donors, delivering excellent relationship management to meet ambitious individual fundraising targets.​

• Build, manage, and maintain a full and consistent pipeline of prospects, ensuring timely progression through each stage from identification to stewardship.​

• Conduct frequent and regular contact with donors and prospects by phone, video, and in-person meetings, utilizing the Head of Fundraising and CEO for potential new and existing high net stakeholders.​

• Develop compelling, tailored proposals and funding applications to secure significant donations.​

• Create and implement bespoke stewardship plans to ensure long-term support.​

• Represent BRACE at networking events to build relationships with potential high-value supporters.​

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all major donor activity in our database.​

Strategy & Planning

• Work closely with the Head of Fundraising to develop and implement a major donor fundraising strategy.​

• Monitor performance against budget targets and analyze data to support future budgeting.​

• Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy of the charity.​

• Stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in major donor fundraising.​

General Responsibilities

• Be an active and supportive member of the BRACE team, supporting colleagues across the organization to support the charity’s wider organizational goals and objectives.​

• Gain and maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the charity's work, priorities, and future plans.​

• Assist the CEO, Head of Fundraising, and other colleagues with charity-wide development initiatives.​

• Attend meetings and events as required both during and outside normal office hours, including the annual Let’s Talk Dementia.​

• Carry out any other duties compatible with this post as directed by the Head of Fundraising.

Candidate requirements

Essential:

• Demonstrable experience in major donor fundraising or equivalent high-value relationship
  management
• Proven track record of securing large and repeat donations from individuals
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with good copywriting and proofreading ability
• Experience in creative proposal writing and the ability to demonstrate clear outcomes and impact
• Confident and persuasive presentation skills
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with high-net worth individuals
• Experience in developing and implementing stewardship plans for major donors
• Strong research skills with experience in identifying quality new business leads
• Proven ability to form good working relations, both internally and externally with people at all levels

Horatio’s Garden is a nationwide charity creating and nurturing beautifully designed gardens in NHS spinal injury centres. We are seeking a friendly, organised and energetic person with a warm and welcoming manner for the new role of Garden Coordinator.

The Garden Coordinator will join a team of several other dedicated staff across the charity’s existing projects. You will work closely with the Head Gardener, Arts Programme Manager and a team of volunteers to nurture the beautiful garden for people with spinal injuries and their visitors.

You will be responsible for the administration of the garden and coordination of the large group of volunteers. With the Head Gardener you will also arrange seasonal events for patients, their friends and family throughout the year.

Supported by the central Arts Programme Manager you will also be responsible for organising and running a range of social and creative activities for people with spinal injuries and their families and friends to enjoy creating an uplifting, friendly atmosphere in Horatio’s Garden and garden room. These sessions will need to be held on a weekend afternoon which is a critical time in the garden when most patients are available and often have friends and family to visit.

Currently the Arts programme includes crafts, quizzes, seasonal celebrations with lunches,  in addition sessional creative experts also deliver glass fusing workshops, felting, printing, talks, painting, ceramic workshop live music performances,

You will need to be a highly organised person with great IT skills and a proactive can-do attitude. You will be confident working both independently and as part of a team in the garden.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, self-driven individual who is efficient, well-organised and has an outgoing personality. You will need to be adaptable and happy working with a wide range of stakeholders including people with spinal injuries and their families, NHS staff, volunteers and many different teams within the charity. Horatio’s Garden is a charity that creates and cares for beautiful gardens in NHS spinal injury centres. Leading garden designers develop the stunning sanctuaries for patients and their family and friends, creating an environment which becomes an integral part of their lives and care whilst spending many months in hospital. The beautiful garden includes stunning planting, a water feature and a large garden room to give patients a warm sheltered place to enjoy the garden in all weathers. The garden also features a large glasshouse, an area of raised beds for patients where garden therapy sessions will be held, and a comfortable office for garden staff.

Key responsibilities

• Volunteer coordination, training and recruitment

• Visiting wards to help patients to come out to the garden and garden room in hospital beds or wheelchairs.
• Handling the administrative side of the role, including risk assessments, ordering materials and budget-monitoring
• Working directly with patients and with the Arts Programme Manager to plan activities that reflect the patients’ interests
• Booking high-quality speakers, entertainers and freelance creative people to run sessions
• Working alongside session facilitators to support them.
• You will also be required to run sessions yourself, organise social activities and run quizzes

If you are right for this role, you will be a committed, motivated, and outgoing individual who wants to support the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) of young people living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, working in a partnership capacity as part of a holistic health and wellbeing programme. Your role will be multi-faceted, and you will therefore be flexible and able to offer a variety of SRH interventions in a broad range of settings, to a broad range of young people.

First, you will provide brief interventions in sexual health in an outreach capacity at schools, colleges, universities, leisure centres, youth organisations, and other venues. Here, your primary focus will be to provide basic information about SRH to young people, whilst also encouraging them to complete a Chlamydia screen and register to the free condom scheme. You will also promote online testing for those aged over 18, and connect young people with other local sexual health services through referral and signposting.

Second, you will deliver SRH and relationships training to groups of young people and professionals, in smaller workshop settings as well as to larger groups. You will be able to deliver accurate information on a variety of topics that are often sensitive and complex. You will have an existing knowledge base that you will be willing to expand and solidify through a combination of supported training and independent learning.

Third, you will facilitate offsite drop-in sexual health sessions and offer 1:1 sexual health support to young people who attend any of the four Young Greenwich youth groups. You and your team will each be responsible for attending the four Young Greenwich hubs once each week during evening hours, working closely with the youth group leader as well as the young people themselves to establish trusted relationships and an engaging programme of activity. You will be proactive and creative at integrating sexual health to other, ongoing activities, and ensure effective safeguarding.

Additionally, you will work closely with the wider SHO team, including supporting the sexual health phone lines processing screening results, and where necessary, signposting to relevant services. Across all aspects of your role, you promote local sexual health and contraception services to young people and adults alike, referring to in-person or online services as appropriate and handholding as much or as little as needed, particularly to those most vulnerable. You will keep accurate monitoring records for all interactions, referrals, Chlamydia screens, and C Card registrations / distributions. You will also contribute to quarterly service review reports.

This role requires flexibility, working unsociable hours in the evenings, and occasional weekends. Schedules may vary from week to week depending on programme need.

Key responsibilities and duties:

• Responsible for the day-to-day output of our social media content across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and LinkedIn (we use Hootsuite). Scheduling, writing and producing content (including reels), responding to comments and messages etc.

• Leading on the development of our TikTok channel, delivering engaging content and plans to grow this platform in particular. Also mirroring for Instagram too.

• Managing our Linktree platform (Instagram) and exploring other suitable platforms and reporting for socials.

• Supporting the Head of Marketing to develop social media strategies and growth plans, identifying new audiences, influencer targets, creative content, trends, and PR/marketing opportunities and exploring sponsorship and advertising.

• Using Canva to create social media content, charity materials and videos/reels.

• Responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and update of the Spread a Smile website, making amends and creating content as required.

• Supporting the Head of Marketing on wider website development and marketing strategies and support tools such as researching and using AI i.e. ChatGPT.Responsible for creating monthly supporter e-newsletter in Mailchimp, regular family e-newsletters (4 per annum) and other e-comms, (with Head of Marketing leading on content strategy), helping to ensure schedules for delivery are agreed and adhered to.

• Working with the Head of Marketing to maintain brand quality control, ensuring brand guidelines and support materials are up-to-date and accessible to the whole team.

• Researching and exploring marketing and promotional initiatives and avenues such as Google Ads, PPC, Instagram / Facebook promotions / sponsorship / ads etc.

• Managing Google Analytics and communications tracking, producing monthly reporting on marketing activity using agreed reporting template, including website activity, e-comms performance, social media performance and growth and audience analysis.

• Liaising with external designers as required on charity collateral and managing relationships with printers, obtaining relevant quotes and ensuring costing clarity.

• Supporting the Head of Marketing and wider fundraising team on fundraising appeals and events, helping to deliver relevant collateral, promotional strategies and communications and supporting fundraising relationship requirements as needed (i.e. website news stories etc).

• Working closely with the Head of Marketing and Services team to support marketing requirements for the Services and family events, including delivery and production of materials, visiting hospital partners to take good quality photos and film content etc.

• Attending our Family events as required to support with photos and marketing content.

• Helping to maintain our photo library and ensuring good management systems

Founded in 1911, our Client has an outstanding reputation for performing arts training and a roster of illustrious alumnx from Noel Coward to Bonnie Langford, Pixie Lott and Layton Williams.  In September 2022 our Client relocated from its three historic sites to one brand new purpose-built campus in central Woking. Bringing its 650 students, 140 staff and Sessional Tutors and 15 courses together under one roof for the very first time was a hugely exciting step and the institution has gone from strength to strength since then. 

As a lynchpin in its strategic vision, our Client is seeking its first Head of Development & Engagement.  The purpose of the role is to deliver a step-change in provision of scholarships and bursaries in support of its aim to build on its rich heritage to become the most inclusive performing arts institution in the UK. 

To succeed in the role, you'll be an ambitious and creative Development professional with the drive and experience to develop and grow our Client's first ever fundraising programme. Through your vision and influencing skills, you'll bring colleagues with you and engage a wide range of potential supporters, from individuals, artists and influencers, as well as charitable trusts and companies.

Your strong grasp of individual philanthropy/major donor and trust and foundation fundraising and your determination to make a long-lasting difference through the impact of your work will be instrumental to your success in the post.  This will be an exciting and career-enhancing role with the opportunity to shape and deliver the case for support and develop inspiring propositions for fundraising as well as cultivation and stewardship plans for this vibrant and exciting institution. 

Along with your fundraising expertise, you'll have a proactive approach and excellent organisational and administrative skills. Job Purpose
 
As BSR’s Marketing and Communications Manager you will deliver impactful communications and data-driven marketing plans that support our mission and vision. 

You’ll work with teams to build strategic marketing and communications plans and manage a tactical calendar of multi-channel activity. All of which will drive engagement with clinical guidance, the latest science and research, quality education programmes, professional events and conferences. 

You’ll focus on promoting member benefits to boost recruitment and retention across the adult, paediatric and adolescent rheumatology community. And you’ll help colleagues to tell compelling stories of our work, to celebrate the work of our members, to showcase rheumatology as a career and to highlight the issues of most importance to our members. 

You’ll lead a talented team that manages the organisation’s communications channels, digital marketing, content strategy, and our people focused brand. Working closely with the Head of Marketing, Communications and Membership, you’ll play a key role in our data capability and insights, helping us to focus on impact led activity. You’ll also help colleagues to gather feedback and intelligence about our members and audiences, enabling us to continually improve our member offering. 

This role requires a creative, pro-active and impact-oriented marcomms professional who excels in both planning and hands-on execution. 

Main responsibilities

Team leadership and development 

• Lead and coach a team responsible for content creation, digital marketing, and membership campaigns 
• Provide regular performance reviews and professional development opportunities for team members 

Marketing and communications 

• Work with teams to develop tailored marketing activity to promote products and services 
• Track, analyse and report on the success/failures of our campaigns to aid understanding, efficiency and improvement 
• Execute marketing campaigns across traditional, digital and social media channels plus experiential 
• Manage the society’s website, overseeing content and performance and work with an agency for any development needs 
• Create compelling messaging that resonates with key audiences, including prospective and current members and stakeholders 
• Oversee the creation of engagement focused content across existing and emerging channels 
• Be a brand ambassador for BSR externally and a brand champion internally, managing tone of voice, editorial and creative identity 
• Manage digital productivity tools and solutions to ensure good process and capacity tracking. 

Membership growth and engagement 

• Execute digital-first membership acquisition strategies to expand the organisation’s member base and retention programmes to encourage loyalty 
• Analyse membership trends and member feedback to improve member services, benefits, and offerings 
• Manage membership data and segmentation to ensure effective targeting and personalised communication with members. 

Management and impact 

• Manage the marketing budget ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources 
• Track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and membership programs, adjusting strategies as needed to meet KPIs
•  Use analytics tools and member data to track the performance of marketing efforts and membership engagement

The skills and knowledge that are important to us are:

The Role
Work with senior fundraisers and other stakeholders to prepare and deliver direct marketing product strategy, plans, budgets, and presentations to achieve ambitious growth targets.

The Candidate
Experience of delivering direct marketing strategy for acquisition and retention that is audience-centric, rooted in insight and target driven.

Track record of leading multichannel campaigns, managing the successful delivery of direct mail and collaborating on digital ideally in a charity setting.

Hands-on experience of working with creative agencies, print production houses and mailing service providers to deliver best-in-class collateral and communications

Experience working with data and segmentation, reporting and analysis, to monitor results and act on insights to achieve KPI and income targets.
