Citizens UK
Citizens UK is a people power alliance of diverse local communities working together for the common good. Our mission is to develop leaders, strengthen civic organisations and make change. Our 550 member communities are deeply rooted in their local areas and connect every day to the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Through the method of community organising we enable people experiencing powerlessness to develop their leadership and come together with the power and strategy to make change.
This leads to hundreds of neighbourhood improvements - from zebra crossings outside primary schools to renovated public toilets in cemeteries. And it leads to some of the biggest campaign impacts in the UK, such as winning over £2 billion of wages through the UK Living Wage campaign, securing a legal cap on the cost of credit to control exploitative lending, and ending the detention of children for immigration purposes. We enable local campaigns to grow into large-scale social change projects such as the Living Wage Foundation, Parents and Communities Together (PACT), Sponsor Refugees, and Refugees for Justice, that form an integral part of our theory of change. The most prominent of these is the rapidly growing Living Wage Foundation with a network of over 14,000 accredited Living Wage Employers across the UK.

Our external affairs work is fast-paced but committed to the distinctive ethos of Citizens UK – where local leaders and people experiencing injustice are in the lead. You’ll be a strong communicator with the ability to tell a story in short time frame and have interest in a range of social justice issues including refugee and migrant justice and the real Living Wage.

Join our successful Philanthropy fundraising team and make a real impact. We're seeking an exceptional Philanthropy Executive to join our established team. In this role you’ll engage small to medium sized trusts and major donors, connecting them to the difference they can make to thousands of men and their families facing prostate cancer.
Together with the Senior Philanthropy Executive, and Philanthropy Managers, you will liaise with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that you put together high-quality funding proposals, that will inspire supporters to make four and five figure gifts, which will significantly improve the lives of men facing prostate cancer.
As a Philanthropy team, we work hard to support and motivate each other. We’re inclusive, enthusiastic, open, helpful and driven. We’re looking for someone who shares our passion to achieve success and work collaboratively.
What we want from you
Our experienced team will support you in this role, helping you to grow and develop your strengths and skills. We work in a fast-paced environment that is ever-changing and we are always looking for new ways of working, constantly trying to improve our approach and increase our efficiency and growth.
You’ll be creative in collaborating with colleagues to think of the best way to present our life-saving work. You will spot and act quickly on new fundraising opportunities. You’ll have a way with words and the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for a personable and enthusiastic individual to really shine!
Why work with us?
Every man needs to know about the most common cancer in men – prostate cancer. It’s a real and present danger that takes over 12,000 of our dads, grandads, brothers and friends each year.
Prostate Cancer UK is the largest men’s health charity in the UK. We have a simple ambition – to stop prostate cancer damaging lives. We invest millions in research to revolutionise testing, treatment and care. We’re blazing a trail to a screening programme that could save thousands of lives with regular, accurate tests for all men at risk. And we work tirelessly to spread the word about risk and offer specialist support to people living with the disease.
Work with us and you’ll see your efforts pay off as we give men and their families the power to navigate prostate cancer.
Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
At Prostate Cancer UK, we believe that equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to building a strong and innovative workplace, that represents, and can advocate for the communities we support. We stand against discrimination and prejudice, and we champion tolerance, fairness and equality in everything we do. This makes us stronger and helps us reach more people. We’re all here for the same reason: to give every man the power to navigate prostate cancer.
We're committed to righting health inequalities across the UK, starting with those faced by Black men who are at double risk. This includes ground-breaking research into Black men's risk and working with communities directly to overcome barriers to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
Therefore, we’re particularly interested in applications from those from marginalised and vulnerable communities. This will help us create an environment of inclusion where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work, where personal qualities are as important as professional experience, and our people feel seen and heard.
