Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you keen to work with children to support and develop their phonics and reading skills?
40% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard. Chapter One is a fast-growing charity, with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive. We work to ensure that all children have 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.
Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme (based on a model that serves 20,000 children successfully in the USA) provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Literacy Interventionist works individually with target children.
We are seeking a part-time Early Literacy Interventionist (ELI), based at Galleywall Primary School in Southwark, South London. This ELI role, reporting to the Schools Development Manager, is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop and grow their knowledge of phonics and/or their teaching skill set. It is ideal for someone with previous school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge.
For your caseload of target children, you will conduct an initial baseline assessment and then deliver differentiated, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach. Although you are employed by Chapter One, you will work closely with the school team to understand the progression of the school’s phonics teaching; establish tailored plans for each child and feedback on pupil progress. Using your knowledge and insight, you will also collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.

The role
Our key priorities at FareShare UK are to grow the food volumes accessible to the charities and community groups we support across the UK. Food partners (manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, importers, packers, catering providers, producers and others) are pivotal in helping us to meet these priorities, providing access to food and many other strategic resources. This crucial role will focus on working with our top food partners to maximise the mutual value in the relationship through strategic and structured account management. Our ability to meet growing demand and retain our leading position in the food redistribution landscape will be heavily influenced by the success you have in this role.
You will be the direct account lead for some of the biggest food accounts in the UK and you will lead part of the Food Partnership Team for managing and engaging new business relationships to drive and grow food and funding from top food partners.
As part of this role, you will lead the transition to a tiered and structured strategic account management approach of all top partners. Coordinating colleagues in the food team and other FareShare teams: FareShare Go, Marketing, Fundraising, Network Operations and Volunteering teams to ensure that top partners get an excellent service. You will work with the top food partners and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate identification of activities, and monitoring of progress, benefits and evaluation.
You will help identify and overcome the barriers to food redistribution and increase the volumes of foods available to FareShare from food partners and their wider supply chains.
Working with marketing and relevant teams you will develop sales materials to open opportunities for more food and other resources from top partners.
You will lead new business development for FareShare Go and work closely with the FareShare Go operations team to mutually agreed objectives. You will support the team to develop new opportunities to deliver the FareShare Go service to food partners including meeting tenders and developing compelling propositions for partners.
Main areas of responsibility
Business Development and Relationship Management
- Support the senior Leadership team by implementing and driving FareShare’s strategy to deliver the services that our top food partners want now and in the future.
- Develop sales and tender materials to win new and grow current business for increased food, funds and other strategic resource.
- Keep up to date on trends and key areas of opportunity for top accounts.

BEO is a civil rights charity that was set up to challenge and dismantle systemic racism. We work with Black communities by using campaigning, policy and research in conjunction with the law to effect meaningful change.
Legal services are central to BEO. We are therefore looking for someone of 4yrs PQE who has experience in social welfare, human rights, public and administration law and who seeks an opportunity to use those skills specifically in the area of challenging systemic racism.
In the last year we have been developing our relationships with partner organisations, ranging from community groups, our stakeholder law firms, NGOs and law firms experienced in equality and discrimination law, to deliver legal services. The role holder will be required to build on and expand these relationships so that BEO can offer quality legal advice to Back communities in the nations and regions across the United Kingdom.
We are building our internal legal team so that we can provide targeted legal support to Black communities. We are looking for someone to work with the Director of Legal Services and Policy to ensure that high quality legal advice, support and representation are the hallmark of BEO.

We anticipate that you'll be based in the office for at least two days out of the three days/24 hours worked per week. About the role
The Exchange is looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working Sales Assistant with a flair for customer service, and a passion for plants, craft and people. This is an exciting new opportunity to help support our Retail Manager in establishing The Garden Room as a vibrant, successful and welcoming space for retail, selling homeware and gifts; craft and garden supplies and tools; plants and plant care products; and some fashion, fragrance and cosmetics. The Garden Room acts as the main entrance into The Exchange, and so the Sales Assistant will be expected to be able to talk confidently about the wider organisation and its work. The space is also used for workshops, focusing on the interconnection between craft and gardens.
Principle Duties:

- Sales: Maximise sales within our retail space, The Garden Room, by assisting with the day-to-day running of the shop, ensuring it is always well presented, welcoming and secure.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to visitors and customers, providing information about The Garden Room and our retail offering as well as the organisation, its ethos, our programme and events.
- Plant Care: Basic care of the plants within The Garden Room and elsewhere in The Exchange.
- Ambassador: Be a positive ambassador of The Exchange, supporting the organisation and its work within the community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service in The Garden Room, answering queries and giving general assistance in a warm and friendly manner to ensure a positive visitor/customer experience, and to encourage repeat visits.
- Talk confidently about the wider work of The Exchange, including our history, ethos and our events/programme.
- Ensure the smooth operational running of The Garden Room.
- Till and cash handling, processing transactions on the till system, packaging and gift wrapping any purchases as required.
- Process online purchases by selecting stock, packing for postage and arranging dispatch.
- Inform customers about stock availability and gathering product feedback.
- Respond to email and in-person queries from customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Occasionally serve drinks and snacks from The Garden Room where we sell a small selection of chilled bottled and canned drinks for consumption on The Exchange premises.
- Manage stock levels, preventing theft, and keeping the store clean and organised.
- Ensure that available stock is visible and is visually appealing.
- Maintain stock levels and visual standards of the drinks and snacks available to purchase from The Garden Room.
- Provide basic care instructions to customers purchasing plants.
- Operate within rigorous H&S and security frameworks, including taking responsibility for opening and closing tills, and final retail space checks.
- Assist with general housekeeping duties as assigned.

The role will encompass integrated community and youth support activities. Leading a small and passionate team of employees and volunteers to develop the use of the Harefield Hub space and deliver youth provision and the food pantry. The role will be focussed on the East Southampton community surrounding Oasis Academies Mayfield and Sholing and the Harefield Hub space. Working together with the Strategic Community Development Lead you will also be part of the Oasis Community development across Southampton.
Key responsibilities will be:
· To build positive and supportive working partnerships with the local community, supporting them to access Hub services and activities to develop their skills, knowledge and aspirations.
· To work with the Strategic Community Development Lead to create a plan to deliver joined up services that address the needs of the local neighbourhood, including community projects, holiday provision, and volunteer, family and youth support.
· Provide leadership and line management to, the youth project and the pantry leads, building a positive and well-functioning team that models the Oasis ethos and values. Supporting them in the day to day running and development of these projects.
· Lead on all aspects of the day-to-day administration and supervision of a team of volunteers and their activities, developing and inspiring them to develop best possible practice to meet the needs of the local Hub deploying volunteers’ strengths and acting as an authentic role model.
The successful post holder must have:
· Self-motivation, resilience, with excellent organisational and inter-personal skills.
· Successful experience of working with parents / carers (voluntary or paid work)
· Proven experience of community development and working with young people.
