The Role

Reporting into the Funding and Innovation Manager you will support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and secure external funding into SNG communities and to charities we work with.

Key Responsibilities

• To support the Fundraising and Innovation Manager to deliver our fundraising strategy.
• To secure external funding to benefit SNG communities and customer facing teams around the following themes: Financial & Digital Inclusion, Employment and Training, Community Action and Engagement.
• Lead projects, bids and programmes that bring in external funding to SNG communities and to charities benefiting SNG communities.
• Innovate by supporting the testing and piloting of new programmes and partnerships and identify opportunities to the Head of Partnerships and Funding.
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders, including funders, businesses, local authorities and national agencies.
• Support the implementation of governance oversight for fundraising and systems and processes.

The Fundraising Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the bpf’s work and mission. How would you contribute to Cycle Sisters’ mission? 

Cycle Sisters has grown hugely over the past few years, with an expanded range of programmes and activity. We are keen to continue this journey of growth and have just finalised a new strategy for 2024-2027 which prioritises reaching more women and girls, and ensuring our financial sustainability.

The Fundraising Lead will play a critical role in supporting our ‘sustainability' strategic priority to ensure Cycle Sisters can access the resources it needs to keep making a difference.   This post-holder will lead on growing Cycle Sisters’ unrestricted income, with a focus on community fundraising and corporate partnerships.

The post-holder will need to be an excellent networker, confident in representing the organisation externally and able to motivate a range of stakeholders to financially support Cycle Sisters’ work.

What would you be doing?

Below is a list of responsibilities which provide a broad outline of the role.   This is not an exhaustive list as Cycle Sisters is a small team which requires flexibility.

This is a new part-time role and we will work with the successful candidate to develop a workplan which is realistic within the hours available.   There will also be support from other team members on some of the areas of work.

General responsibilities 

• Develop strategies to achieve income targets across the areas outlined below 

• Ensure all fundraising initiatives are properly planned, delivered, monitored and evaluated.   All activities should be conducted in adherence to best practice, Cycle Sisters’ ethical policy and charity law. 

• Represent the organisation externally including networking, delivering presentations and speaking at events 

• Work with the Communications & Media Lead to create compelling fundraising messages and materials for a range of audiences 

• Work collaboratively with other team members in Cycle Sisters to maximise all opportunities for fundraising 

Individual Giving and Community Fundraising 

• Oversee event/challenge fundraising, liaising closely with volunteer fundraisers to maximise income and ensure fundraisers feel valued and appreciated 

• Work with the Communications & Media Lead to ensure donors feel valued and appreciated 

• Develop and implement a regular giving strategy, helping us to progress donors from one-off to regular giving

• Work with the CEO to develop a “membership” scheme to generate regular income from Cycle Sisters’ participant network with incentives and benefits for members 

• Work with an external agency to secure income through digital fundraising 

Corporate Fundraising 

Working closely with the CEO: 

• Develop relationships with existing corporate partners, ensuring partners feel valued and are receiving regular updates

• Research and identify new corporate fundraising prospects.  Develop relationships through networking and representing Cycle Sisters externally.

• Create tailored packages to secure in-kind and financial support from corporate partners 

• Develop ideas for earned income services for corporate partners e.g. led rides

• To deliver your fundraising target through the oversight and significant growth of your caseload of supporters. • Develop the customer experience for your caseload to world class standard. Review and enhance existing processes, engagement tools and materials to ensure they are contributing towards strong and sustained relationships with supporters. Ensure gifts and donor relationship information is accurately recorded, processed, thanked and reported on in a timely and confidential fashion using Raisers Edge and developing a strong relationship with the Giving Team and other internal stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively and accurately with other entity Fundraising Teams. Support and collaborate with wider fundraising opportunities and to attend all relevant fundraising team meetings to have a rounded understanding of what we are trying to achieve in our fundraising across the group.
• Responsible for keeping updated on relevant fundraising and volunteering best practice, regulations and opportunities. Ensuring you undertake the training offered to you, proactively seek out learning opportunities within the third sector and Christian or Corporate philanthropy networks.
• Other ad hoc projects as they arise. Including but not limited to working with our network to facilitate partnership opportunities with Churches and LYN Hubs, being willing to support with advice for developing their local fundraising. The Right Candidate

• A 3 year track record of demonstrable growth in income against targets.
• Experience of identifying and developing funding partnerships using research, networking and delivering timely proposals for funding and engagement with a high conversion rate.
• Able to accept responsibility for personal targets and demonstrate ability to contribute to wider team KPIs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to create effective communication for both Christian and secular audiences.
• A good working knowledge of MS Office and CRM Databases.

•  You’ll help secure funding from local businesses by responding to enquiries with proposals for how those local businesses can best support Kensington & Chelsea Food Bank.
• You will develop, monitor and manage a trusts fundraising portfolio capable of generating in excess per annum. You’ll establish a trusts fundraising pipeline, including a range of KPI’s that can be tracked and that will enable you to make informed projections regarding future income.
• You’ll forge strong relationships with colleagues across the wider Trussell Trust network, sharing best practice and learning from other charities across the network. You’ll proactively take advantage of any fundraising training and skills development opportunities and engage with any joint fundraising opportunities.
• Oversee and assist as needed the Foodbank Project Manager and Volunteer Manager to:

1.  Maintain relationships with key local stakeholders and identify fundraising opportunities and helping with other community relationships as needed.
2. Further develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies.

• Generate content to promote the work of the food bank, encourage donations through social media, regular foodbank newsletters and contact with corporate Volunteers.  

Skills

• You’ll have strong, established experience of trusts and foundations fundraising. Experience of corporate partnerships fundraising would also be beneficial.
•  With excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills. You’ll be able to inspire and motivate new and existing funders.
• You’ll have experience of setting, managing and reporting against fundraising KPI’s.

• Has a track record of securing six-figure funding from trusts and foundations for research projects

About Mountbatten Hospice Group

At Mountbatten, our mission is to promote and provide compassionate care and support for those people living with, affected by, or curious about death, dying, and bereavement. As a charity, we deliver a wide range of services at our two hospices in Newport, Isle of Wight, and Southampton, Hampshire, as well as extensive community-based care for patients and their families at home.

To succeed in our ambitions, we are seeking a dedicated senior fundraiser to join us as Head of Fundraising. You will be responsible for delivering Mountbatten’s fundraising strategy and leading the Hampshire and Isle of Wight fundraising teams.

About the role

As Head of Fundraising, you will drive innovative and ambitious fundraising initiatives supporting a vital cause. Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will promote income growth by managing, adapting and improving the fundraising strategy.

You will be at the forefront of implementing exciting, forward-thinking fundraising campaigns while fostering meaningful relationships with supporters, corporate partners, and high-level donors. With a focus on growth and positive change, you will inspire your team and champion new ideas that drive income generation for Mountbatten’s mission.

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a highly motivated and experience senior fundraiser who is passionate about significantly impacting Mountbatten’s future. You will bring expertise across various fundraising income streams, with particular strengths in individual giving and/or corporate fundraising.

Person specification:

• Demonstrable significant fundraising experience with proven ability to deliver on time and within budget.
• Track record of motivating individuals and teams to raise money for a charitable organisation, ideally with a hospice or hospital focus.
• Significant line management and leadership experience, including motivating a team to achieve challenging targets.
• Ability to generate new ideas and positively and empathetically lead staff through change.
• Strategic thinker with experience in designing and developing strategies and the ability to translate them into tactical annual and quarterly business plans.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form and nurture long-lasting relationships.

The Corporate Partnerships Lead will play a significant role in generation income, networks, and relationships by increasing the profile of the Marylebone Project, by aiming to partner with companies looking to enhance the corporate social responsibility.
