About Women in Prison

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. About the role

The Access & Participation Project Coordinator is a brand new, exciting role designed to support LSESU’s work around access and participation.
 

The successful candidate will play a lead role in identifying areas where there is a need/opportunity for targeted interventions to support the experiences of students from disadvantaged backgrounds, before putting then translating these into evidence-based proposals.
 

The Access & Participation Project Coordinator will be responsible for designing, implementing and delivering these programmes, as well as for reporting back on them and proactively seeking ways of driving continuous improvement.
 

The role will also oversee the delivery of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Mentoring Scheme. This landmark programme, that was last year nominated at the National Diversity Awards, pairs students from ethnic minority backgrounds with LSE alumni, who provide the former with mentoring and support during their studies.
 

The successful person will be responsible for reviewing the programme and seeking to build upon its fledgling success to ensure it is bigger, better and more impactful than ever.

• Work collaboratively with the fundraising and marketing team to ensure that email templates, cards and certificates remain up to date and relevant to our audiences.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as Head of Fundraising. This pivotal role is responsible for spearheading our fundraising efforts, nurturing key relationships and driving and growing income generation to support our strategic and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and grow our diverse fundraising team, covering areas such as Community, Key Events, Key Relationships, Business Development, In Memory, Legacy, Individual Giving, and Trusts.

· Collaborate with the Director of Income Generation and Digital to develop and implement a robust fundraising strategy.

· Foster a culture of excellence, cooperation, and innovation within the team to exceed financial targets and KPIs.

· Engage with high-profile individuals and businesses, expanding our donor base and securing support for fundraising initiates. 

· Represent the hospice at networking events, delivering presentations to enhance our public image and brand awareness.

· Transition the team away from traditional fundraising methods through event delivery, pivoting into stewardship and relationship based fundraising methods.

Overall Responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer:

• Develop and implement a long-term strategic plan aligned with the organisations mission, vision and values
• Provide visionary leadership to the team, inspiring and motivating staff, volunteers, and stakeholders towards achieving organisational goals as being a Christian ministry.
• Regularly assess the evolving needs of the community and identify opportunities for program development and expansion.

Ideal Criteria and Experience for the Chief Executive Officer

• By the Equality Act 2010, it is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian. This is essential to the credibility of the organisation and performance of this role and ensures that the charity is following its governing document.
• Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Ability to speak and lead church meetings to promote the work of the organisation amongst the local churches.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of successfully implementing organisational strategies and driving positive change.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and inspire a shared vision.
• Demonstrate experience in fundraising, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and relationship management.
• Financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
• Understanding of governance principles and experience working with boards of directors/trustees.
• Knowledge of UK regulations governing charities and business including knowledge of company administration and charity governance.

Role Overview

We are looking for a talented fundraiser to join our small and supportive team. The Fundraising Officer (Trusts & Foundations & Events) is a new role to our charity and will play a key part in supporting our future plans.

UP attracts significant support from individuals, and there is huge potential to grow income from Trusts and Foundations with this increased capacity in the fundraising team.

In this role, with guidance from the Head of Fundraising, you will contribute toward income generation through researching and identifying Trusts and Foundations whose criteria match UP’s work, and developing compelling and inspirational proposals and grant applications. You will maintain the Trusts and Foundations pipeline, ensuring there is a steady stream of applications submitted to maximise funding opportunities, grow income and the number of multi-year grants.

While the primary focus for this role will be to grow income from Trusts & Foundations, you will also support the Head of Fundraising to develop the philanthropy programme. This will include planning and bringing to life an exciting and varied programme of events to support the growth of Individual, major giving and corporate support and shape exceptional supporter experiences.
