Working requirements, salary & benefits

• Salary between £22,000 and £24,000 dependant on location and experience, plus pension scheme
• Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9.30am - 5.30pm. 28 days annual leave (including Christmas gift days)
• One year fixed term contract; we aim to support all Graduate coaches to progress to other roles with us after this initial year, with development towards management level within 3 years.

The Legal and Compliance Team is based out of Save the Children UK's (‘SCUK') London offices and provides high-quality advice, support, and representation on legal, compliance and information security issues affecting SCUK and its charitable business. The Legal and Compliance Team ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and advises on good governance and the effective management of legal risk throughout SCUK.

About the Role

As a trusted business partner with a strategic outlook, you'll proactively and pragmatically advise and engage with internal stakeholders on a broad range of legal issues, as well as collaborate dynamically and effectively across Save the Children International (the international programming arm of Save the Children) and with other members of the Save the Children global movement.

You will provide first-class legal and compliance advice to SCUK and its subsidiaries in respect of their UK and international programmes; policy, advocacy and campaigns work; and fundraising, retail and marketing activities, modelling professionalism, pragmatism, excellence and integrity in doing so.

You will support the effective delivery of cross-organisational risk, compliance and governance programmes, ensuring that key legal and regulatory risks are managed, whilst promoting a culture of shared responsibility for addressing legal and compliance risks throughout the work of SCUK.

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide strategic legal advice to SCUK's UK Impact, Global Programmes, Fundraising, and Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns Teams on funding arrangements and agreements with donors, and contracts with corporate partners, implementing partners and service providers (e.g. IT, Facilities, Finance, consultancy agreements).
• Advise SCUK staff on legal issues and risks arising from SCUK's operations, including in relation to charity fundraising laws and charity governance; fundraising and marketing communications and events; marketing, advertising, media and defamation matters; data protection, intellectual property and employment issues.
• Provide strategic and pragmatic legal support and advice on legal compliance matters, including anti-terrorism and sanctions compliance requirements, anti-fraud, bribery and corruption matters, and data protection laws and compliance requirements.
• Develop, advise on, promote, implement and maintain policies, practices and procedures to ensure compliance with legal compliance requirements, good corporate governance and the effective management of legal risk.
• Advise and support SCUK staff on donor due diligence relating to areas of legal compliance.
• Monitor implementation and effectiveness of legal compliance controls and support investigations into the handling of concerns or incidents.
• Provide legal and governance support to SCUK's subsidiaries and affiliated entities.
• Assist with the creation, maintenance and implementation of standard legal and compliance documents, guidance notes and policies, and with the development and delivery of training to staff on legal and compliance issues.

 About you

Efficient, self-motivated and able to prioritise effectively under pressure, you'll be highly effective at using legal skills to provide strategic, creative and pragmatic advice to support ambition and innovation within SCUK.

• Significant post-qualification experience with expertise in one or more of the following areas: general corporate / commercial / contract, employment, finance, charity / not-for-profit, litigation.

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to coordinate an 18-month project exploring how we can operationalise a new in-work poverty benchmark for employers in London. This benchmark, developed by the Social Market Foundation, has the potential to improve the lives of low paid workers, building on the success of the Living Wage campaigns

The in-work poverty benchmark project is a new and exciting pilot project at the Living Wage Foundation. We want this person to build a case for employers going further than our existing accreditations and taking a more holistic approach to tackling in work poverty. This role would help us develop the pilot through employer case studies and extensive stakeholder engagement with a view to launching a new vehicle to recognise employers who adopt the in-work poverty benchmark.

Three key parts of the role would be working with:

- Our Membership team and our Operations and Insights team: to scope out and enhance their capacity to support employers to implement the benchmark through e.g. workshops, provision of guidance and /or new ways of working with employers.

- The cross organisational Making London a Living Wage City (MLLWC) team to build upon the successes and networks of this project and align where helpful to encourage London employers to go further

- London based community organisers to ensure that the experiences and stories of low paid workers are a primary driver of the case for change and how we develop this work.

The ideal candidate would be a proactive and experienced project manager with experience of building and implementing new products, projects or services. They should have excellent communication skills and a track record of engaging diverse stakeholders and building a network.

Living Wage Foundation

The Living Wage Foundation was launched in 2011 by Citizens UK to tackle in-work poverty and ensure that workers earn enough to live on and participate in family and community life. Citizens UK is the home of community organising with diverse civil society alliances set up to develop leaders to work on the issues that matter to them, such as the Living Wage. Other projects include Parent Action and Sponsor Refugees to add depth to the impact of Citizens UK’s work.

The Living Wage is a movement of businesses, organisations and people who believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. The real Living Wage is an independently-calculated hourly rate based on the cost of living and announced each October ahead of Living Wage Week, our annual celebration of a growing network of over 15,000 Living Wage Employers.

The Living Wage Foundation celebrates employers that voluntarily choose to pay the real Living Wage through an accreditation scheme that recognises a long-term commitment to fair pay and has secured pay rises for 475,000 low paid workers. Over recent years, the Living Wage Foundation has built on the success of the real Living Wage by creating new responsible employment standards – Living Hours and Living Pension – for those employers who want to go further and provide the security workers need now and in the future.

Main Responsibilities

Contribute to the achievement of the LWF and CUK’s strategic aims

· Work with the Living Wage Foundation team to embed this project into the wider work and strategy of the Foundation, and to identify and share learning from across our projects on how to mobilise employer action to tackle poverty.  

Develop and manage external relationships

· Develop and implement a stakeholder engagement plan to support and promote the project.

· Manage strong relationships with the project partners and funders to involve and update them on the project as required.

· Progress our existing partnerships whilst proactively securing new partnerships with organisations that can help promote and build demand for the in-work poverty benchmark.

· Develop a wide-ranging network of stakeholders with an interest in this project, finding ways to involve them in its development.

· Coordinate and manage a project working group of senior Living Wage Employers, in work poverty experts and employee stakeholders.

Build and manage projects and achieve work targets effectively

· Set up, manage and evaluate a set of action pilots with employers, low paid employees and relevant experts to develop and test the in-work poverty benchmark and the standards within it.

· Design and develop the recognition mechanism and support programme for employers who sign up to the in-work poverty benchmark.

· Provide regular progress reports and deliver agreed project milestones including events, reports and other agreed outputs.

· Oversee the project being integrated into our CRM system and developing robust project management systems.

Learning, expertise, wellbeing and inclusion

· Conduct desk research, stakeholder interviews and organise events as required to inform the project. Manage research partners to conduct additional research as required.

· Monitor, review, evaluate and write up pilot progress with each employer using qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods.

· Working with others to identity and share learning on how to mobilise employer action to tackle poverty, considering this in the development of the in-work poverty benchmark.

· Develop and host employer facing events to gain insight and test appetite to support the development of this work.

· Design and facilitate employer workshops and employee focus groups to identify best practice and shared learning.

· Produce a final report and recommendations for how the work might be taken forward at the conclusion of the project, presenting this to relevant stakeholders.

Communications

· Oversee the collation and dissemination of research and evidence to build the case for the in-work poverty benchmark. Work with the Living Wage Foundation Communications and Research team to enable this.

· Develop the support we offer Living Wage Employers that are interested in implementing the in-work poverty benchmark and lead the production and design of research reports, toolkits, best practice guides and other resources.

· Promote the Living Wage Foundation to build our reputation as a leader in good work practices for low paid workers, including launching research and reports and celebrating progress made.

· Represent the Living Wage Foundation at meetings, events and conference to build awareness and support for our work. 

Develop and manage internal relationships:

· Build and manage strong relationships across the LWF and wider Citizens UK teams for effective collaboration and to support development of this work.

· Work closely with community organisers in London to ensure the voices of low paid workers are a leading influence on this project.

· Contribute to the LWF and Citizens UK Senior Management meetings and cross organisational working groups.

Generate income and resources

· Oversee the development and implementation of an employer fee structure for the in-work poverty benchmark vehicle.

· Work with the Head of Business Development and Policy to produce a sustainable fundraising strategy for this work whilst developing relationship with potential funders.

· Oversee the creation of proposals to secure funds from corporate partners and attract funding from grants or donations to support ongoing work.

We are  seeking a passionate and committed Chief Executive Officer who will help us unite the global Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) community to collectively find solutions to the challenges of the syndrome. Our vision is to create a world where people with PWS receive the services and supports they need to fulfil their potential and achieve their goals. Main purpose and scope of role

Working closely with the President and the Board of Trustees, the CEO will provide strategic vision and leadership and will strive to ensure that IPWSO delivers its charitable purposes and remains successful and sustainable.

Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not limited to)

Leadership

· Strive to ensure that the charitable purposes of IPWSO are followed and that it delivers the public benefit set out in its governing document.

· Take overall responsibility for the management and administration of IPWSO.

· Provide support and information to the Board of Trustees to enable trustees to fulfil their roles and legal responsibilities.

· Pursue close cooperation with, and accountability to, IPWSO’s members.

· Act as an ambassador for IPWSO by representing IPWSO at events and networking to build new strategic relationships.

· Keep abreast of relevant new research, treatment recommendations and service developments for people with Prader-Willi syndrome.

Governance

· Strive to ensure that IPWSO has governance systems in place that enable it to consistently fulfil its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities.

· Maintain awareness of risks and changes in the external environment that could affect IPWSO and advise the Board of Trustees accordingly.

· Together with the President manage complaints (including from whistle-blowers) and recommend actions to the Board of Trustees

Finance and Fundraising

· Work with the Treasurer and the Finance Committee to ensure the overall financial health and sustainability of IPWSO.

· Work with the Treasurer and the Finance Committee to prepare budgets for review by the Board of Trustees and to enable IPWSO to operate within its financial means.

· Seek to ensure that appropriate financial reports are submitted to the Charity Commission and other entities as required.

· Support the work of the Fundraising Committee and strive to ensure a sustainable income from both IPWSO members and individual, corporate, philanthropic and government donors.

· Build relationships with potential donors and prepare funding proposals.

· Seek to provide high quality support to existing donors, by means including the preparation of regular reports and updates.

· Seek out and build new income streams.

Staff, Trustee and Volunteer and Committee Support

· Provide support to staff, trustees and volunteers to enable them to carry out their duties.

About the role

This is an awesome role focussed on improving our ways of working and processes when it comes to those who support us. We want all of our supporters to have a first class experience when they decide to donate their time and/or money to supporting children and young people with cancer and their families. However we know that as an organisation we have more to do to make this happen and the time is now.

Working in Income Generation, this role will take a recently conducted diagnostic carried out by a business improvement consultant and not only work through the next steps but make change happen, prioritising the areas with the biggest wins. This role really will have a lasting legacy in the organisation.

We're not just looking for someone to map change, this person will lead operational design and process re-engineering that transforms the Income Generation directorate and it's workforce into high achievers. 

You’ll be based within the Project Management Office (PMO), a supportive team of professionals that lead transformational change across the organisation as well as corporate planning. You’ll also have close relationship with the Head of Planning and Strategy in Income Generation as well as the Associate Director Supporter Engagement.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Building on the diagnostics carried out already within Income Generation directorate to optimise organisational design and scope improvements. 
• Using the diagnostics to identify pain areas, develop a sequenced plan to tackle these issues and then implement the plan to improve performance, processes and services i.e. “getting hands dirty”.
• Embedding a culture of improvement in the organisation and developing these capabilities within the workforce.
• All of these activities will involve facilitating workshops, engaging audiences with tailored communications, debating and negotiating ideas with leaders, managing governance, risks and dependencies, evaluating progress etc.

We are searching for confident and passionate individuals who love meeting people and building relationships and can articulate an impactful cause.

Candidates who have a major donor or philanthropy experience will be looked upon favourably; however, we will consider candidates who have other fundraising experience. We also strongly encourage candidates with limited experience to apply given the commitment to training and development at the organisation.
