The VCSE Strategic Lead for Living Well and Wider Wellbeing is an exciting new role that will be focused on ensuring that the VCSE sector has voice and influence so that Salford people are supported to live well, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing.

The role will be aligned with Salford’s Living Well programme and the city’s Mental Health Collaborative. These are the cornerstones of the design and development of innovative solutions to adult mental health provision in the City. As well as the alignment with Living Well, the lead will also focus on creative health, placed-based working, and physical activity.

The Strategic Lead will work across a broad spectrum of VCSE and public sector partners that design, commission, or deliver activities and services that support the Mental Health and Wellbeing of Salfordians. This spectrum includes NHS Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust, Salford City Council, START, Mind in Salford, Salford Community Leisure, Salford Sport, and Physical Activity Alliance.

The Strategic Lead will play a key role in ensuring that there is collaborative working and effective communication within Living Well. This also includes key stakeholders, strategic partners in Salford, Local Authority, VCSE, and NHS organisations.

Living Well

Living Well is an innovative new service created and delivered by a partnership between START, Mind (Salford), Six Degrees, and Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust. A multi-agency team, collaborating to provide positive, humanistic, and safe experiences for those experiencing poor mental health who are unable to meet the threshold for community mental health services.

This post requires an enhanced level DBS check.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate extensive experience of building multi-sectoral partnerships and relationships, as well as having outstanding communication skills. They will also have a clear understanding of the VCSE sector, preferably in Salford, and mental health and wellbeing context across Greater Manchester.

Your role would be to oversee the care services, providing line management, guidance and advice in all areas of standards, legislation, CQC requirements, safeguarding and KLOEs. Support the Registered Service Managers.

Your duties as the Head of Care, will include, but not be limited to:

• Act as The Nominated Individual for The Meath and the point of contact for the CQC.
• Operate as a member of the SMT in the implementation of senior management decisions, sharing KPIs, business goals and The Meath Values.
• Ensure The Managers maintain current knowledge of CQC compliance and cascade required information to all staff.
• Support the implementation of “I” and “we statements”.
• Report to and take a proactive part in the Health and Social Care Sub-committee of board of Trustees and support delivery of recovery plans.
• Keep CEO informed of all safeguarding incidents.
• Monitor staff numbers and rotas to ensure that The Managers are maintaining safe numbers of support and that 1:1 additional hours are provided.
• To supervise and manage the registered Managers and lead the Managers’ team meetings and briefings.
• Monitor and guide the Managers to maintain paperwork required under legislation, e.g. CQC framework assessment requirements, MCA, DOLs and Safeguarding.
• Regularly attend all services, to monitor standards and provide feedback to the Managers as appropriate.
• Encourage communication and best practice by promoting an open environment for discussion providing the opportunity for constructive feedback.
• Be available in emergency situations to assist and support The Managers.
• To be conversant with and implement the Meath policies and procedures, taking an active role in their review and ensure they are adhered to.
• In collaboration with the Head of Risk and Compliance, oversee the annual KLOE audit process and ensure actions are completed effectively.

Essential:

• Must hold an appropriate Health & Social Care qualification, QCF Level 5.
• Understanding of the fundamental standards and KLOEs
• Knowledge of the safeguarding regulations and required notifications to CQC
• To be able to ‘hit the ground running’.
• To be able to communicate with the general public, trustees, professional bodies, and all other parties both written and verbal.
• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft programmes and Outlook calendars.
• Experience in managing a number of services and multi-disciplinary staff teams.
• Experience with MCA and DOLs and be able to guide and mentor managers through the process.
• To be able to present KPI’s and adjust information sharing alongside trends and changes.
• Experience of inspection process with CQC.

Desirable:

• Experience in developing multiple teams to a high standard and achievement level, instilling a culture of performance and teamwork
• Experience in employee relations issues
• Previous experience in change management within the care sector.
• 3 years in a senior management post in the care sector.

Role and Responsibilities

We are looking to recruit a law graduate (1-3 years post-graduation) with experience in environmental law, economic justice and/or international development to join our small but dynamic team. Depending on experience, the role will support our programmes challenging economic injustice caused by environmental damage, biodiversity loss, deforestation, illegal resource trafficking, climate change and conflicts over natural resources; promoting transparency and accountability in public and private institutions to encourage responsibility and minimise the impacts of corruption; and promoting fairer and more effective economic and fiscal policy tools to help states meet development goals and enhance the rule of law. A more detailed explanation of our work is set out in our 2024-2026 Strategy.

Working as part of a small, busy team, you will have the opportunity to learn at very close hand what it means to work for an international NGO focusing on achieving environmental and economic justice. You will develop projects with a range of partners, including international agencies, NGOs and CSOs, and governments and government bodies. You will collaborate with a range of volunteer lawyers (law firms and barristers chambers) who are leading experts in their field. The role will also involve project management, assistance with fundraising, fulfilling compliance obligations, and evaluating and learning from projects.

Key Competencies:
• Relevant experience and knowledge (either from previous work experience or study) relating to environmental law and policy and/or economic justice in an international development context;
• A law graduate with a good understanding of how law is useful to achieving reform on the above;
• Demonstrable understanding (either from previous work experience or study) of key issues in sustainable international development, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals;
• Experience in developing countries and transitional economies;
• Ability to develop and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders, including donors, NGOs, civil society organisations and government representatives, on an international basis;
• Familiarity with, or understanding and enthusiasm for the concept and practice of, pro bono legal assistance;
• Demonstrable project management skills and experience, including administration and coordination;
• Ability to work on a wide range of tasks simultaneously;
• Excellent research skills to effectively convey research findings;
• Comfortable working independently and proactively and as part of a small team with a busy caseload;
• Strong interpersonal and team working skills;

Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Senior Legal Managers and/or Legal Manager to deliver and implement the programme strategy, in conjunction with the Executive Director, partners, staff and Board;
2. Assist in developing an understanding of the most effective policy tools and legal interventions to deliver the programme objectives, through engagement with volunteer lawyers, ILP partners, staff, Board and others;
3. Support the building and maintenance of ILP’s programme(s). This includes:
• Liaising with partners to identify legal/policy needs and offer potential legal and/or policy reform solutions, including through conducting legal analysis;
• Assisting the programme lead(s) to build a pipeline of relevant projects and cases, including through engaging in outreach to potential pro bono partners;
• Supporting programme staff to network and build relationships with volunteer lawyers who have relevant technical expertise;
• Mapping and developing relationships with regional and international development entities and other technical assistance providers to identify potential partners, needs and focus countries;
• Representing the programme(s) in external fora and events;
4. Assist with ensuring effective project delivery and evaluation of impact including:
• Coordinating project implementation through the full project cycle;
• Supporting the preparation of financial and narrative reports for donors;
• Maintaining strong programme management and knowledge management systems and processes;
5. Support fundraising activities to support both the programme(s) and organisational overheads, including exploring opportunities for potential funding and assisting with funding applications;
6. Share in the necessary operational activities of the organisation. This includes some administration and contributions to website and social media communications.

Can you play a key role ensuring all logistics arrangements are in place for rapid deployment and effective management of the UK Emergency Medical Team field hospital?

UK-Med is a humanitarian NGO that has been responding to disasters for over thirty years. We prepare and equip medical teams, both in the UK and worldwide, so they are ready to respond when epidemics, conflict and natural disasters hit. When Ebola struck West Africa in 2014 we recruited and trained UK doctors and nurses who helped local medical teams and other NGOs to bring the outbreak under control. We are core partners, providing the clinical component and key support structures of the UK Emergency Medical Team (UK EMT) in line with WHO standards.

We are recruiting a Logistics Manager who will provide leadership across UK EMT partners in ensuring effective logistics arrangements for UK EMT deployment of health facilities including the Type 2 field hospital. Our ideal candidate will bring significant experience of providing logistics support in the humanitarian sector (expected to be at least 5 years) including in insecure environments. You will have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and be able to bring together people from a range of organisations, cultures and perspectives into a coherent team.

The British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) is a membership organisation with charitable status. The BCS represents a diverse group of members that span the cardiovascular profession, covering specialist areas of shared and common interest, where the majority of members are either consultant or trainee cardiologists. Premier League Stadium Fund Technical Manager (Midlands and East of England)

£37,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on relevant experience and skills) plus generous benefits

The role will be home-based, but geographically will be required to cover clubs and leagues based in the Midlands and the East of England.

Regular travel to clubs’ stadiums will be required, as well as occasional travel to our office at Wembley Stadium in London.

We currently have a vacancy in the Premier League Stadium Fund for a Technical Manager to support the Stadium Accreditation Programme and to support the assessment of applications to  the Premier League Stadium Fund.

About the Premier League Stadium Fund

The Premier League Stadium Fund is fully funded by the Premier League and is delivered and administered by the Football Foundation. It provides financial support to clubs throughout the football pyramid. As well as continuing to fund ground-grading requirements, the Premier League Stadium Fund includes a Club Development Fund to help clubs grow and enhance sustainability.

The Premier League Stadium Fund awards capital grants to clubs to support improvement of their stadium facilities for players, supporters and officials. Funding is available to clubs who play in Steps 1 to 6 of the National League System, Tiers 1 to 4 of the Women’s Football Pyramid and clubs promoted into the English Football League.

The role

Working as part of a team of Technical Managers, you will support our Stadium Accreditation Programme and will lead on the technical/construction aspects of Premier League Stadium Fund grant projects.

Stadium Accreditation

You will support the Stadium Accreditation Programme by helping establish new ways of working following the initial assessment of approximately 1,000 stadiums across England and Wales. You will have responsibility for a set of leagues and clubs across the Midlands and the East of England and you will work with them to ensure their compliance while also delivering against the objectives outlined within the new Premier League Stadium Fund Facilities Strategy.

Grant Management

You will also be responsible for the scrutiny of the technical and construction aspects of Premier League Stadium Fund grant applications and ensuring the successful completion of new and improved stadium facilities. As part of this process, you will provide professional advice and guidance to applicants to assist with the development of capital projects, within the National League System (NLS) and Women’s Football Pyramid (WFP).

You will work with clubs to ensure that solutions can be found to address the findings of the Stadium Accreditation Programme, and will then carry out a technical assessment of any grant applications made by those clubs. Following the allocation of any funding, you will help to oversee the construction process to ensure that the build is completed to programme.

What are we looking for?

You’ll need a construction-related degree or professional qualification (for example RICS, CIOB, RIBA or equivalent), or the equivalent experience in a construction management or technical role. You’ll have expertise in construction processes, and experience of delivering facilities from inception to completion. Experience in sports facility construction is desirable but not essential.

You must also have great people skills and the ability to inspire and engage people at all levels, from clients and suppliers to volunteers, whilst also being confident in dealing with conflict and challenging situations. You’ll have strong organisational skills and a keen attention to detail with the ability to analyse complex situations and make tough decisions. You’ll be flexible and open to new ways of doing things, including new technologies, so that the Premier League Stadium Fund and the Stadium Accreditation programme continue to improve.
