The Board of Elmore Community Services is looking for new Trustees to lead the organisation at an important stage in its development.

Elmore was founded in 1989 and has successfully supported hundreds of with people with multiple and complex needs to live active and fulfilling lives. The charity specialises in working with individuals who, for whatever reason, find other mental health services hard to access and can be left unsupported at critical times.

Elmore’s clients may have mental health needs and people experiencing homelessness or unstable housing, individuals who are coping with the long-term impact of substance misuse, alcohol dependency, domestic abuse and neglect.

We are committed to persevering, trying out different approaches to engage the person and build up their trust in support services  possibly for the first time.

This is vital work, and Trustees find contributing to the Board and the overall strategy and impact of Elmore highly worthwhile.

We also need Board Members with knowledge and experience of: 

• Commissioning and Partnership Building with the NHS and Local Government

• Fundraising – especially from Trusts and Foundations 

• Improving and assessing Programme impact and Quality

We are particularly looking for Trustees with lived experience of services like Elmore’s. 

Younger people and people from ethnic minority communities are currently underrepresented on the Board and we would especially welcome applications from these groups living in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire where Elmore currently has programmes.

Fundraisers wanted to support East London Waterworks Park in developing and implementing our fundraising strategy.

East London Waterworks Park is a volunteer-led charity that has won a 2024 New London Architecture award and raised £2m towards buying land from the Department for Education to transform the 14-acre Thames Water Depot on Lea Bridge Road on the border of Waltham Forest and Hackney, into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming ponds, forest schools and community spaces. 

We are looking for fundraisers to contribute to our community-led fundraising strategy, to develop relationships with funders and to write funding applications. 

You would join our fundraising circle, which coordinates our fundraising efforts. It is currently exploring grant opportunities and developing relationships with businesses and other funders. We meet online on Google Meet and volunteers complete agreed tasks remotely. 

If you have experience in writing grants and funding applications, corporate fundraising, philanthropy, or any other aspect of fundraising, it would be great to hear from you. 

We are keen fundraisers but we are lacking professional expertise and experience and we would love your help and input. We would welcome one-off advice on the phone or in person, as well as longer term volunteers. 

We would also love to hear from potential volunteers without experience but with transferable skills.

We need an experienced Marketing & Communications Volunteer to join us who is able to set up and develop our communications, including running our social media platforms and creating a fantastic positive energy and buzz about Youth Mix and young people.

The role is what you make it and as a leader within the charity, you will have a massive input on the culture, comms and direction of the charity, creating an amazing platform for us to create a huge positive energy for both the charity and young people.

As this role is voluntary, the role offers great flexibility to fit around your time (including daytimes, evenings and/or weekends), where you will mostly manage your own workload, including mostly home based working. The Role

Planning Aid London (PAL) is seeking a remote volunteer Prospect Researcher to support our fundraising and supporter engagement campaign running from April to June 2025.

This short-term role (2–3 weeks, flexible) involves identifying individuals, organisations, and companies with an interest in planning, placemaking, and community development.

Your research will help PAL connect with potential donors, campaign amplifiers, and individuals who can make warm introductions. Tasks include online research via social media, professional networks, and publications; recording findings in a structured spreadsheet; and tracking your volunteer hours. Volunteers will be supporting people remotely, in their own homes and in the community within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and ideally, we ask all applicants to provide a minimum of 1 hour volunteering a week.

The companion service volunteer can choose to be:

• A companion telephone/video caller                                                               

• A companion within the person’s home

• A companion outside the person’s home

• Or a combination of all three.

Examples of the type of support the service offers include:

• Telephone / video calls for an older person/s on a regular basis at a mutually agreed time for a friendly chat. 

• Supporting an older person/s hobbies and interests or simply chatting with them in their own home on a regular basis.

• Supporting with digital access & building confidence skills & motivation to access the opportunities of the internet.

• Supporting the person outside of their home e.g., by accompanying them on a walk, to the shops, to a café, garden centre, theatre or cinema or other social activities / community groups. 

• Where appropriate, supporting the older person to access other services through information and signposting or referring to the Companion Service Coordinator for support.

We are looking for the following skills/interests:

• Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis.

• Commitment to complete our Volunteer Report Form accurately and regularly. 

• Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.
