We are looking for a high-calibre candidate to take up a permanent role as Centre Leader at our new IntoUniversity centre in Gateshead. You will have responsibility for setting up, launching and running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. However, a substantial element of this role is delivering our education programme to children and young people aged 7-18, so you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people, including leading a class of 30 from the front, working with small teams of children and providing one-to-one support.

Eligibility for the role

In order to be eligible for the Centre Leader role, applicants will:

• Have completed an undergraduate degree to a 2.2 or higher.
• Have achieved a grade C/ grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Have EITHER a minimum of 18 months full-time paid experience working in a delivery role at IntoUniversity; OR a minimum of 2 years full-time paid or voluntary experience working with children and young people, either at IntoUniversity, or external organisations, or a combination of both. What will my main dutires be?

To lead the staff team at the centre, generating a positive and inclusive working environment and ethos and ensuring that the team are well motivated, are managing their workloads effectively, and are providing a high quality service.

You will initially be involved in the set up of this brand new centre, including developing local school relationships..

To ensure that the ethos and values of the charity are maintained in the IntoUniversity centre.

To act as the Centre’s Designated Safeguarding Officer (full training and support will be provided to become the Designated Safeguarding Officer). To create and oversee relationships with local education providers.

To oversee the successful delivery of our educational programme at the centre using positive behaviour management and adhering to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.

As part of the Transition Training Flat Service you will undertake direct, planned and structured one to one and group sessions with young people. Working toward distinct outcomes you will support young people to reach their person-centred goals in a trauma-informed way.

Key elements of the service include:

• Group work promoting independent living skills to young people in preparation for their ‘move on' housing options. This will include delivering accredited Independent Living Skills programmes, facilitating visits to accommodation providers, as well as providing opportunities to develop practical skills such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning and bill paying in a home environment
• Support for those at risk of homelessness or those at risk of placement breakdown, for young people aged 16+. This is targeted one-to-one support for those young people who may be experiencing instability in their accommodation or placement.
• This service will provide young people aged 16+ with an independent living experience in order for them to better understand their accommodation needs and options. Intensive individual support will be provided to those young people accessing the training flats (includes evening and weekend working).

What does the Job Role involve?

Your duties will include:

• This service provides support to young people from 9am until 8pm Monday to Friday and from 10am until 6pm on weekends.
• The service requires flexibility of work as we support young people around their needs. This means rota working including the evenings and weekends.
• Working with young people and professionals to develop agreed support plans.
• Delivering accredited group work programmes in the areas of Independent living and tenancy readiness.
• Visiting and supporting service users in their placements providing support to young people and their carers.
• Visitingyoung people accessing the training flats on a regular, planned basis. Undertaking entry/exit tasks, safety and welfare checks as well as responding to emergencies and crises that may arise within service hours.
• Supporting young people to ensure they are aware of their accommodation options and entitlements in readiness for move on. This will include assisting young people to complete benefit applications, offering support through appeals as well as supporting service administrators with the monitoring of data.
• Supporting young people to integrate into their communities and to encourage participation in community events and activities.
• Tracking a young person's support journey through the use of outcomes scoring. To discuss, score and record outcomes, implementing a young person-centred approach.

You will have (essential criteria):

• Knowledge of the issues affecting young people particularly those who have been ‘looked after', are care leavers, or are homeless/threatened with homelessness.
• Experience of direct work with young people in a relevant setting.
• Experience of creating tailored support plans with young people and demonstrating the positive outcomes achieved.
• Experience of delivering group based sessions such as issue-based workshops and independent living skills programmes.
• Experience of managing a workload and prioritising competing demands
• The ability to travel independently to meet the requirements of the post.

About SRUK

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to service users and staff in drug and alcohol, hostel and homeless services, increasing hepatitis C awareness, access to testing and referral to treatment, for people living with hepatitis C.

Key Purpose:

This role encompasses the day-to-day running of RABI’s mental health training programme. To include liaising with individuals and organisations seeking training; working with RABI’s specialist training providers; budgeting and invoicing, monitoring and evaluating the service.

The role will seek to explore possibilities for the development of the service, including working with external organisations across the sector to upskill and empower their staff.

Leading on and supporting into other pilot service projects will also be included. This could include project management, research and writing proposal documents. 

The role involves cross departmental working, particularly with the Service Delivery, Fundraising, Volunteering and Finance departments to ensure both the smooth running of the service, but also the development of it to ensure it reaches its full potential.

Implementing relevant procedures and processes, revising and facilitating continuous improvement will be key to the success of the role, with a focus on gaining impact reporting and integrating the service into the CRM. 

Building and maintaining successful working relationships both internally and externally and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery are essential to the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and develop opportunities to engage with prospective strategic corporate partners around mental health training.
• Lead the management and delivery of RABI’s mental health training.
• Work with other RABI departments to ensure promotion of RABI’s mental health training and maximise the opportunities it provides.
• To collect and track data on the effectiveness of the mental health training, and impact reporting.
• Work to develop RABI’s mental health training service to maximise its impact and effectiveness across the wider farming community.
• To integrate the mental health training service from booking through to invoicing and reporting, within the CRM system, to ensure all data is captured, relationships managed, and reporting provided.
• To support the delivery of new projects and pilots as required, including scoping, researching, project management and reporting.
• To support the Business Development team in developing policies and processes to ensure the smooth running of the department.
• To attend, contribute and chair where appropriate, meetings, briefings and reviews with existing and 
• potential partner organisations and service providers.
• Be an ambassador for Business Development internally within RABI and with external organisations.
• Demonstrate commitment to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity and Health and Safety promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
• Undertake any other responsibilities commensurate with the post which management representatives may require.

Person Specification:

Essential

• High computer literacy and technical skills including the use of Microsoft Office programmes, databases and CRM systems.
• Experience of developing excellent relationships with high level corporate organisations.
• Ability to represent RABI and lead meetings with large audiences and partner-based events.
• Significant knowledge and experience of working collaboratively with organisations and stakeholders at all levels.
• Advanced research skills and proven record of environment scanning success.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to understand and translate complex information to a variety of audiences.
• Negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to work with people at all levels with tact and diplomacy.
• Experience of developing and delivering presentations and pitches.
• Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage own workload and priorities.
• Ability to travel throughout England and Wales and work unsocial hours on occasion.
• Affinity with the goals and objectives of RABI.
• Proven Project Management experience, including planning, monitoring & evaluation.
• Flexible, resilient and solution focussed working with sensitivity, integrity and without prejudice.
• A full UK driving licence.

We are looking for a high-calibre candidate to take up a fixed-term role as Centre Leader at our IntoUniversity centre in Kennington. You will have responsibility for running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. A substantial element of this role is delivering our education programme to children and young people aged 7-18, so you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people, including leading a class of 30 from the front, working with small teams of children and providing one-to-one support.

Contract: Full-time, fixed-term until June 2025

Salary

£38,100 per annum (inclusive of £2,600 London contribution)

Eligibility for the role

In order to be eligible for the Centre Leader role, applicants will:

• Have completed an undergraduate degree to a 2.2 or higher.
• Have achieved a grade C/ grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Have EITHER a minimum of 18 months full-time paid experience working in a delivery role at IntoUniversity; OR a minimum of 2 years full-time paid or voluntary experience working with children and young people, either at IntoUniversity, or external organisations, or a combination of both. Please note that we will not take part-time, seasonal or ad-hoc work into account when calculating the length of full-time experience.
• Have the right to work in the UK (please note that as a charity we do not have the capacity to sponsor work visas).
• Be able to apply knowledge of F.E. and H.E. (e.g. UCAS applications) to help young people decide about their futures; and have knowledge of national developments in H.E. and their impact on young people traditionally underrepresented in H.E.
• Have experience of confidently negotiating with a variety of stakeholders, for example: head teachers, funders, universities.

What will my main dutires be?

To lead the staff team at the centre, generating a positive and inclusive working environment and ethos and ensuring that the team are well motivated, are managing their workloads effectively, and are providing a high quality service.

You will initially be involved in the set up of this brand new centre, including developing local school relationships and we anticipate that delivery of the IntoUniversity programmes will begin in the 2024 summer term.

To ensure that the ethos and values of the charity are maintained in the IntoUniversity centre.

To act as the Centre’s Designated Safeguarding Officer (full training and support will be provided to become the Designated Safeguarding Officer). To create and oversee relationships with local education providers.

To oversee the successful delivery of our educational programme at the centre using positive behaviour management and adhering to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.
