As a Co-ordinator for our RNID Near You community service in Brighton and West Sussex you will focus and lead on developing and delivering the community service across the area through drop-ins offering:
- practical hearing aid support
- information on hearing loss and tinnitus
- hearing checks
You will be responsible for co-ordinating up to 20 drop-in sessions and be able to recruit, train and manage a team of up to 30 volunteers to deliver the service across Brighton and West Sussex. You will have responsibility for the set up and running of these sessions and have good local knowledge of Brighton and West Sussex and seek new opportunities for delivery of the RNID Near You services.
We are looking to appoint a motivated person with a keen interest in supporting people with their hearing loss. While you will be home based, there will be regular travel to all venues where we will provide drop-in sessions in community settings.
You want to make a difference in people’s lives and love to interact with various audiences, including volunteers, health & care professionals and service users. You have experience managing events, your own workload and are able to work evenings/weekends if required. You are able to physically assist clients with hearing aids sensitively, giving clear guidance and taking into account individual wishes and health needs.
You are ready to work for a home-working organisation and have good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word.

Supporting people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus

There are part-time roles available with community litter picking charity CleanupUK, who need help in their mission to engage people in looking after their local environment.
If you have a few hours a week to spend encouraging local communities and organisations to litter pick, then this could really suit you.
CleanupUK is recruiting eight Community Cleanup Champions to work closely with our partner organisations in one of the following areas, encouraging local litter picking via our Cleanup Hub network:

Cleanup hubs are spaces to store equipment for individuals and groups in the community to use. By hosting this equipment and loaning it out, Cleanup Hubs are championing volunteering in the community and promoting litter picking.
CleanupUK provides equipment and promotional support to help Cleanup Hubs get started with litter picking and engaging local people.
Cleanup Champions work closely with Cleanup Hubs and other partner organisations to encourage more people to get involved in litter picking locally.
We are keen to find cheerful people, with a sense of fun, who care about the environment and enjoy chatting to people of all backgrounds.
Main Purpose of the Role:

To increase the number of people borrowing litter picking equipment from the Cleanup Hubs in your local area.

To represent CleanupUK at a local level by attending litter picking events and supporting the development of the Cleanup Hub network.

To develop strong relationships with partner organisations in the community:

Supporting existing Cleanup Hubs to increase levels of engagement in their area by contacting new groups.

Research and develop potential new partner organisations.
Key Tasks include:
-
Liaising with Cleanup Hubs and local communities.

Hosting and attending events and reporting back to CleanpUK’s Operational Team.

Helping to keep active records of the litter picking that is taking place. This includes: ensuring litter picking statistics are being logged online by hubs, taking photos for our social media channels, and making notes on our shared database.

Promoting the project locally, both on the ground and online.

Online research to help us to identify new community partners, and attending online or face to face meetings with new prospective partners.

Attending monthly team meetings online.

Developing an awareness of local funding opportunities and communicating these to our fundraising team.

Occasional support to CleanupUK’s corporate partnership team may also be required such as leading a litter picking for a company.

Introduction and background
Founded in 2011, the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) is a UK-wide charity and network of over 130 member organisations, parents, and clinicians dedicated to ensuring all women, birthing people, babies and families impacted by perinatal mental health problems have access to high-quality, compassionate care and support.
The MMHA has recently been awarded a 5-year grant by the National Lottery Community Fund to tackle maternal mental health inequities through community action.
The Maternal Mental Health Councils project will develop, test and replicate a model of community-based decision-making, support and service provision that is led by women with lived experience. The aim is to achieve system change locally and nationally to improve the mental health of marginalised women and is the next phase of the MMHA’s programme to tackle maternal mental health inequities across the UK.
With this funding, we are pleased to be recruiting for an exciting new National Programme Manager role to lead this important work and be an integral part of creating change for families across the UK.
Main responsibilities
Project delivery
- Deliver all key elements of the MMH Council project, in four localities, covering four different populations, implementing a model of community action led by women with lived experience
- Set up, convene, and facilitate the project governance board
- Research, identify and engage with local community and service organisations, and recruit and liaise with local core partner organisations
- Seek out, develop relationships, and work with other stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, voluntary and community organisations, commissioners, local authority staff, politicians, employers, and others with a shared commitment to achieving the objectives of the project
- With local partners, to recruit lived experience chairs and co-ordinators to lead the MMHA Councils
- Link with other organisations, groups, partnerships and local systems-change initiatives – such as Integrated Care Boards, Health and Wellbeing Boards, and Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships
- Set up a national advisory group consisting of a range of representatives from partner organisations
- Identify and share learnings from the project to support wider MMHA campaigning
- Work with evaluation partners to build impact frameworks and support outcomes measurement
- Deliver events across the UK to disseminate learning and impact systems change
Project management
- Ensure the project is managed clearly and proportionately, with key decisions and activities documented
- Monitor delivery against agreed outcomes
- Maintain project plans and other relevant documentation, including risk registers
- Write reports, for external and external use, including for MMHA trustees and the Community Fund
- Capture notes and learning from key events and activities, including the MMH Councils, project governance board, and national advisory group
- Undertake administrative tasks to support the delivery of the project.
People and relationships
- Support and enable women with lived experience to become and remain leaders of this work
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the project.
Reporting, finance and compliance
- Ensure financial agreements and robust systems are in place with partners
- Manage day-to-day budgets, ensuring the project remains within the agreed expenditure
- Ensure an effective process so that project stakeholders, including women with lived experience, are promptly reimbursed for any costs incurred
