Our new CEO joined in March 2024 and has led the development of a new three-year strategy focusing on the expansion of our existing programmes in Africa - income growth is vital to support this aim.
This new role will be responsible for generating an increase in our income from fundraising channels largely not explored by the existing team. You would work closely with the CEO but would need to be comfortable being highly autonomous and self-sufficient. You would have demonstrable success and in-depth knowledge of at least three of the following fundraising channels: corporates, individuals, community/events, major donors, legacies.

St Gabriel’s Church serves Pimlico as a religious and as a community centre. Our 2* listed building was built in 1853 and is the centre for worship and a range of community activities, including concerts and rehearsals. Today our roof needs to be renewed at a current cost of £1.4 million. This is the final major part of an extensive programme of renewal works which has included restoration of the clocktower and the church walls, renewal of the organ, installation of new lavatory and disabled access facilities, and major drainage refurbishment.
Your role would be to raise income from regional and national Trusts & Foundations, to be responsible for the effective management of a prospect pipeline and ensure that high-quality bids and evaluation reports are submitted to deadlines. The money raised will support the remaining phases of major building work at the church.

As Head of Fundraising, you will have overall accountability for Trust’s fundraising strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this pivotal role will work closely with the wider senior management team (SMT) and inspire and lead the Trust’s fundraising, marketing and communications team.
This role’s primary responsibilities will be as follows:
Strategic Development and Implementation
· Provide leadership, strategy and direction for the Trust’s fundraising, marketing and communications team comprising 16 in the UK and 3 in Nepal.
· Be part of the Senior Management Team (SMT), contributing to the Trust’s wider vision and strategic direction as well as providing updates and reports for the SMT and Trustees.
· As the organisational expert on fundraising, work closely with the Trust CEO and SMT to ensure that all fundraising activity reflects the vision and agreed priorities of the Trust.
Fundraising
· Implement the Trust’s five-year fundraising strategy (income c.£14m pa), and be accountable for the delivery of operational plans, defining targets and identifying new sources of income.
· Develop and implement fundraising policies and procedures ensuring all fundraising remains safe and legal, including all data held within the CRM
· Create a donor-centric culture within the Trust, implementing an accurate and robust system to deliver effective supporter journeys across all disciplines – individual giving, major donor, legacy, trust and corporate, and community fundraising.
· Keep abreast of current fundraising trends and standards as well as historic analysis of our own activities to optimise all fundraising approaches.
Budgeting and Reporting
· Preparation of the annual fundraining income and expenditure in line with the GWT budget cycle and management of in-year income and expenditure, including variance analysis of financial performance against budgets and forecasts for the 12-month period.
· Work closely with the Head of Finance GWT and the Finance team in Nepal to agree the details and split of unrestricted and restricted projects to be funded each year.
Leadership and Line Management
· Provide strategic direction to all areas of fundraising, nurturing team members to develop their knowledge and expertise, and maintaining a passionate and engaged group of staff committed to delivering excellence for the Trust.
· Coach, inspire and motivate direct reports and other members of the team as well as providing guidance and direction to deliver their objectives and develop their skills and expertise in their roles.

An exciting opportunity exists to support a growing fundraising programme at one of London’s strongest independent schools. Reporting to the Director of Development & Alumni Relations, this Development Manager will expand upon our efforts in regular giving, legacy giving and stewardship. This includes managing our fundraising appeals, piloting new fundraising efforts, and producing events and communications for current and future donors. All of this will advance our priority of growing the Colfe’s Charitable Trust’s endowment to support even more 100% bursaries for our Sixth Form pupils.
The last few years have been our office’s most exciting: donations have helped grow the endowment to £2.7M, and many of our bequest intenders have revealed the total value of their legacies will be nearly £2M. Further, our Governors have just appointed Dan Gabriele, Deputy Principal of Caterham School, as the new Head of Colfe’s. He will take up this post in September, and our office will be key in advancing his vision. An essential part of this small but busy team, this is the perfect job for someone already in fundraising and looking to advance their career. The successful candidate will be highly organized and adaptable, have a strong attention to detail and be willing to pitch in as needed. A background in Development and experience with Raiser’s Edge will be necessary. Given our office’s success, opportunities may arise to work alongside new hires to help ease workload.
The School
Colfe’s is one of London’s oldest schools, taking its name from Reverend Abraham Colfe, Vicar of Lewisham, who founded the school in 1652. In his will, he entrusted the School to the Leathersellers’ Livery Company, which governs the school today. A former grammar school, Colfe’s has been a fully co-educational day school for 20 years with nearly 1300 pupils in all from ages 3 to 18. Colfe’s is not a stuffy school, but a happy place with a deep feeling of community among its students, parents, staff and alumni. This provides a terrific platform for this position to thrive upon.
Fundraising Priority
Every year, up to 12 pupils from non-privileged backgrounds at local state schools are awarded 100% bursaries to join our Sixth Form. Named our Leatherseller Scholars, these pupils are academically bright but often qualify for free school meals, and many have no access to a sixth form in their current schools. The Leathersellers’ Company launched this programme in 2009, and today, their grants are combined with donations to the Colfe’s Charitable Trust. However, awarding even more bursaries is urgent and essential. Applications for these awards are extremely high, and this demand now outpaces what we can provide in support. We must expand our fundraising efforts so that Colfe’s can support even more deserving pupils.

The role
THS is looking to recruit a dynamic, ambitious and confident Fundraising Manager to work with the Chief Executive to develop and implement our income strategy.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraising Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be a core member of the team, developing and delivering the income stream for the charity with fundraising strategies that support THS’ mission.
The role will report to the Chief Executive and will be responsible for driving forward all aspects of fundraising, including building corporate partnerships, individual giving, major donors, trusts and foundations, legacies and community.
The THS team is a small but agile team, working alongside its volunteers, so we expect the successful candidate to be a self-starter with a “can do” attitude, lots of energy and drive and a want to make a big difference.

Main Responsibilities:
Fundraising Management and Development

Work with the Chief Executive to develop and implement a balanced and realistic fundraising strategy, which builds on THS strengths and maximises income for the charity.

Deliver an integrated fundraising programme, which includes corporate partnerships, individual giving, major donors, trusts and foundations, legacies, community and events.

Ensure all fundraising activity is compliant with GDPR and relevant fundraising regulation and that all data is accurate and maintained efficiently.

Work with colleagues across THS to proactively identify fundraising opportunities in line with our ethical fundraising policy and procedures, prioritising relationships where our values are aligned and we can achieve the biggest positive net gain.

To maintain and develop the donor CRM platform including building supporter journeys to enhance donor experiences and maximise income for the charity.

Work with the team to ensure that all opportunities to promote THS and develop our fundraising and supporter engagement experiences are explored and maximised.

Manage all aspects of finance and reporting relating to fundraising, including annual budgets, monthly reporting and re-forecasting. Provide monthly reports and updates on all fundraising activities and income streams
