What is a Branch Fundraiser?

Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

SSAFA branches rely on regular charitable income to fund all the necessities behind our support for clients. This includes volunteer travel expenses, phone bills, publicity, and grants for clients in urgent need. A varied programme of fundraising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

This role involves being out and about at public events and would suit someone looking to give the occasional day, half day or evening to support SSAFA; when and where would be flexible to suit you.

What would you be doing?

• Be part of a team with collection/buckets tins at events, supermarkets, shopping centres, etc.
• Acting as a marshal at a public event e.g., handing out water to runners, supervising parking etc.
• Being part of a team running a stall at an event, Armed Forces Day, fayre, county show etc.
• Helping with putting up posters, building gazebos, serving refreshments, packing/unpacking cars etc.
• Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA, engaging people of all backgrounds and interests
• Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

Main tasks

We need individuals who can manage a group of volunteers within their region and work with Human Appeal staff members to ensure volunteers’ active involvement in events and campaigns.

Pain Concern is a charity providing information and support to people with pain and those who care for them, whether family, friends or healthcare professionals. We have various fundraising events throughout the year and we are looking for volunteers to help us to support our amazing fundraisers. This would involve joining us at the fundraising events to cheer them on. This role would suit enthusiastic people who would like to motivate fundraisers to complete their event. We will have at least one cheer point along the route, where we will be showing our dedicated fundraisers how much we support them by cheering and clapping as loud as we can. This will also help to increase awareness of Pain Concern and the support the charity provides.

International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) was founded in 2009 and aims to provide protection and improve the welfare of animals in need. 

We have recently relaunched our Auctions for Animals online fundraising events and are searching for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team to help source donations. Ideally our volunteers will have some experience in generating donations/prizes for fundraising events, or will be happy to spread the word within your local community and collect new or preloved donations for us. 

Tasks will include:

• Identify suitable avenues for donations, creating and building relationships with our supporters and donors and helping to promote IAPWA within your local community.

• Assist with the running of our monthly auction events via our Auctions For Animals Facebook Group, eBay and Vinted shops.

Ideally you will;

• Enjoy promoting our charity within the community and help to generate a regular stream of donations. 

• Have experience of using Google Workspace or willingness to learn.

• Be able to work independently and use your own initiative.

• Offer 1-3 hours per week (hours can be fully flexible)

• A passion to help raise funds for animals in our care

Milton Keynes and North Bucks RSPCA have two retail outlets, a cattery and storage facilities. We are looking to expand our retail footprint and open an education centre in the near future.

Use your skills learned in a professional environment to benefit your local community by becoming a trustee for MK & North Bucks RSPCA. As a trustee of the MK & North Bucks branch, you will have the chance to influence how we care for the animals in our care and prevent cruelty to animals.

RSPCA Milton Keynes & North Bucks need to raise £400k per annum to survive the current cost of living crisis. We are generously supported by private donors and our retail outlets give the majority of funds, however there is more to be done to educate the public and through fundraising and sponsorship partnerships we believe we can reach more people.

We are looking for people with a background in fundraising on a scale of £200k+ who know how to speak with corporate sponsors and can engage directly with our events team. You will be part of a team of Trustee's and responsible for your area of expertise, which requires an experienced leader of people.

The trustee will be responsible for:

• Generating new partnerships with corporate sponsors

• Engaging with internal stakeholders

• Generating ideas and project plans to source funds

• Planning and executing fundraising events from one day events to long partnerships.

Full training on trustee role is provided by the national RSPCA, all other skills must be brought by the applicant.

• You will need to have led teams to generate funds from various sources for a charity -Essential

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependent on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.

This is an exciting opportunity to help lead Big Leaf Foundation in the next phase of its development, as we transition our self-employed contractors to employee contracts and explore new multi-year core funding opportunities to build greater sustainability in our work. We are looking for someone with direct experience in financial management and/or charity finance and fundraising to fill this role. Ideally you will have experience of moving people onto employee contracts. You will use your skills and knowledge to make a lasting difference to the lives of displaced young people in Surrey.

In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, duties of the treasurer include:

• Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements.
• Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs.
• Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate reserves policy.
• Preparing and presenting financial reports to the board.
• Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
• Liaising with any paid staff and volunteers about financial matters.
• Advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic plans.
• Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate ethical funding policy.
• Ensuring that there is no conflict between any funding sources and the aims and objects of the charity.
• Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies, for example the Charity Commission.
• Ensuring that the accounts are scrutinised in the manner required (independent examination or audit) and any recommendations are implemented.
• Keeping the board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities.
• Contributing to the fundraising strategy of the organisation.
• Ensuring the accounts are presented in a coherent and easily understandable way in our annual review.
• Sitting on appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary panels as required.

In addition, with other trustees to hold the charity “in trust” for current and future beneficiaries by:

• Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
• Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its “corporate” behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Acting as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
• Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.
