We are open to candidates who are interested in either the full role or those who wish to support us on a part-time/job share basis focusing on impact management support in one of the two priority areas covered in this job description, Impact Venture and Social Lending.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within Better Society Capital’s Impact and Investment team on implementing and enhancing our impact management approach, with a focus on monitoring and assessing impact performance in two key areas of our investment work – Impact Venture and Social Lending. This includes supporting direct engagement with fund managers, as well as further developing our new impact scoring approach.
You will also support the development of new impact management resources and deliver training on impact management for the ImpactVC and wider impact venture community, as needed.
Please note: We are open to considering candidates who want to join us on a part time/job share basis, covering only one the priority areas, Impact Venture or Social Lending. We may also consider candidates who are more senior for this position.
What you will do:
Support new investments (in our Venture and Social Lending portfolio)

Support Venture and Social Lending deal teams and potential investees in applying BSC’s impact approach during DD and decision making, with a particular focus on rolling out BSC’s revised “Impact Canvas” (our de-facto impact term sheet that captures the investment’s impact thesis and measurement plan).
Implement and enhance BSC’s impact management approach (with focus on Venture and Social Lending).

Support the investment team in preparing, conducting, and learning from our “impact-focused”, annual meetings (“Annual Impact Conversations”) with fund managers during which we review our investments’ impact performance against thesis and fund managers’ impact practice.

Support the impact team in further developing and implementing BSC’s new impact scoring approach.

Work closely with our Venture and Social Lending investment team to assess the actual impact performance of our investment portfolio, drawing out and presenting insights and learnings at our Annual Impact Performance Committee meeting in June.

In Social Lending, lead on the further development and implementation of an Impact Performance Assessment tool for fund managers.

The Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) has an international award-winning reputation in heritage conservation and regeneration for its own estate. For this reason CCT has been contracted to deliver a programme of work for Historic Chapels Trust (HCT). HCT owns and cares for 20 of the most significant Nonconformist and Catholic chapels no longer in regular use by their congregations, all listed at Grade I and Grade II*. As a member of CCT’s national Conservation team you will be the main point of contact for all chapel maintenance related issues, liaising closely with contractors, local groups and volunteers. Alongside the Conservation Projects Manager for Chapels you will deliver the maintenance programme, including regulatory and legal compliance, as well as deal with utilities and insurance of chapels. 10 of the chapels are in our North region, 6 in our West region and 4 are in our South East region.
You will have previous experience in the field of historic buildings maintenance, repair or property management. You will be an effective communicator, be able to plan and deliver your own workload and also work as part of a team. As you’ll be working at chapels throughout England it is essential you have a full driving licence.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to laying the foundations for a new Young Lives (YL) Research Hub on Climate Change and Environmental Shocks.
- Support the Deputy Director to deliver the YL Policy Influencing Strategy and key research-to-policy outputs across the YL programme, including key messages, policy briefs, impact case studies, blogs and other policy focused materials relating to YL research themes. Key themes include education and skills, employment, health & wellbeing and family lives, with a specific focus on the crosscutting impacts of climate change and environmental shocks, poverty and inequalities.
- Track and analyse international and national policy debates, with a specific focus on the impact of poverty, inequalities and climate change on young people in low- and middle-income (LMICs) countries, including the disproportionate effects on girls and women.
- Proactively engage and build relationships with key international policy stakeholders working on the impacts of poverty, inequalities and climate change in LMICs, including policy influencers and practitioners (e.g. governments, donors and civil society), research-to-policy networks and researchers.
- Work closely with the Deputy Director and YL Country Directors to identify opportunities to influence policy debates both internationally and in the four study countries and provide technical support in developing research-to-policy engagement plans.
- Work closely with the YL Head of Communications to ensure research findings and related policy implications are effectively disseminated for maximum impact, including through website and social media, webinars, conferences, policy events and meetings to encourage the maximum uptake and impact of Young Lives evidence. The Senior Programme Development Specialist will work on complex and major bids, often on multimillion consortia, commercial contracts and multi-country partnerships, and will be expected to take a high degree of responsibility for developing successful bids including negotiations with internal and external partners.

About the role
The Program Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of NTD projects in Benin. This position is responsible for managing projects within budget and on schedule, collaborating closely with partners to meet agreed timelines and project documentation requirements. Your expertise will help drive impactful change and support the elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases in the region.
Principle Accountabilities
- Assist staff seconded to government to manage effective implementation of planned activities, including adherence to timelines and coordinating review and feedback from technical teams.
- Monitor programme activities against project goals and donor commitments, identify operational bottlenecks or weaknesses, and work collaboratively with country-based and global teams to achieve exceptional results on aggressive timelines.
- Provide direct support to surveillance and analytics work streams, including the formulation and conducting of high-quality epidemiological analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of current interventions, understand disease patterns, and inform strategic planning related to neglected tropical diseases.
- Monitor, evaluate, and improve the performance of NTD intervention processes and platforms, and contribute to the formulation of surveillance guidelines, SOPs, and training materials.
- Support the development and integration of data collection tools and dashboards.
- Support the integration of data use and analysis in routine programmatic activities at all levels of the health system.
- Support the design and routine implementation of monitoring and evaluation of Sightsavers and governmental programmes.
