Right now, our Old Moat Garden Centre in Epsom is looking for a Horticultural Trainer to join the team. An integral part of the local community, we provide retail and horticultural services to the public and training and work-based opportunities to adults with mental ill health. But it’s only possible with the help of people like you.

Day-to-day, you’ll assist with the supervision and training of the people we support and contribute to the development of the service. We’ll also rely on you to open the centre and serve customers to enable the sale of plants and associated products during selected bank holidays and weekends. Providing horticultural advice and maintaining all plant stock in good condition will be important too, as will helping to assess risk and getting involved in team evaluations and reviews. And, when it comes to promoting an environment of service user involvement and recovery, again, you’ll be there, ready and willing to play your part.

As well as a proven ability to motivate and train others, including running group activities, you’ll need good time management skills and a creative yet practical approach to problem-solving. We’ll also be looking for lots of initiative and an enthusiastic, flexible and innovative approach to work. A commitment to working with people with mental health problems is, of course, a given, while a flair for maintaining appropriate records and implementing new procedures is also essential.

On 1st June 2024, Richmond Fellowship, part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence merged with Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. Global Dialogue is an international philanthropy support organisation partnering with funders to advance rights, equity and diversity. Independent in status and global in reach, we provide funder networks, collaboratives and their partners with practical support and technical expertise to create lasting change.

We seek an experienced, hands-on and strategic Head of Finance to build and lead Global Dialogue’s finance function, ensuring efficient and compliant management of our finances, while helping to shape robust and effective systems and processes to ensure our work is delivered to the highest standards of good practice in the charity sector.

Hours: This role is full-time (35 hours/week) although we’d be happy to discuss an appointment at 80% (28 hours/week). We are open to negotiating a working pattern that works for the successful candidate and for Global Dialogue.

Overview

To date, Global Dialogue’s finances has been overseen by an external accountancy firm. Over the last eighteen months, we have been working towards bringing our finance function in house. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to take the reins and complete the development and roll out of our internal finance function.

The Head of Finance is a new role within the organisation that is both strategic and handson. In the first phase, the postholder will be required to roll up their sleeves and, with the support of Global Dialogue’s Finance Officer, get stuck into the detail of financial administration, including overseeing twice monthly pay runs, monthly and quarterly closes, and other day-to-day financial management tasks. Alongside this, the role will lead on bringing the finance function fully in house, eventually taking on full responsibility for the preparation of management and statutory accounts, cashflow and FX management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. This role will play a key coaching role for the Finance Officer, with a view to eventually delegating all bookkeeping tasks. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring finance systems are innovative, robust and fit for purpose, and will be a business partner to our hosted programmes, providing advice on compliance and strategic matters.

Global Dialogue’s role as an international fiscal host means that we have a complex financial model, receive income from diverse streams and manage a high number of restricted funds. About the role.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading the Major Donor, Corporate, and Trusts & Foundations fundraising function. You’ll manage a team of three, with two direct line reports: the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the Trust & Foundation Manager.

• To ensure delivery of consistent, high-quality counselling across the client cohorts, supporting and empowering our service users, whilst ensuring clinical work is carried out in accordance with BACP ethical guidelines and Rainbow Mind protocols.
• As part of the Senior Leadership Team, to contribute to Mind in Salford / Rainbow Mind’s vision, mission and objectives.

Main focus of the role:

• To lead, develop, coordinate, and represent Rainbow Mind’s counselling service internally and externally at Senior Management level.
• To conduct some clinical assessments and carry a caseload of counselling clients.

Accountabilities

Social Media Strategy & Community Management (internal & external)

• Create and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Practical Action's organizational objectives.

About this key role

Our successful candidate will provide proactive and inspiring management to a team of SOS caseworkers, where you will plan and support the team’s daily workload, monitor and review probation periods, conduct annual performance reviews and ongoing one-to-one throughout the year and review ongoing personal development plans and agree appropriate training.  You will be expected to provide advice and support to team members and attached volunteers in the form of team meetings, regular supervision meetings and daily contact, plus attend community events and meet with commissioners of service to promote the service and build relationships.

We will count on you to provide monthly and quarterly reports to contract managers and funders and to accurately and regularly collect information and evidence to support with the monitoring and the evaluation of the services, while also ensuring that all referred clients are assessed with reference to St Giles Trust practices and that staff produce detailed support and risk management plans based on these assessments.

What we are looking for

• To have worked on an offender-led support project, had personal experience of the criminal justice system, served a prison sentence, or still be serving a prison sentence in a prison within reach of London
• Experience in negotiating and networking with partner agencies to establish links to further the aims of a project
• Extensive supervisory experience in a Criminal Justice setting
• Experience of working with vulnerable young people and adults
• Experience of setting up and operating systems to monitor and report on work with clients
• Mentoring Level 3 qualification (or be willing to work towards this)
• Excellent prioritisation, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.

About the Role

You will be working in one of three dispersed properties within a multi-agency team of other charities in the same accommodation which will be based in Havering. It is a therapeutic service to provide young people with an opportunity to a fresh start. The service will work creatively and holistically to enable young people to move forward from lifestyles which were impacted by gangs and exploitation and help them reach their full potential by identifying and reaching their aspirations, assisting them to move on successfully to appropriate independent living.

The Senior Progression Coach is responsible for contributing to the effective and safe delivery of the service on a day-to-day basis. You will hold responsibility for the safety and well-being of all clients, volunteers, visitors and staff in the service. You will lead in ensuring that the housing management is properly maintained and the service supports clients to sustain their tenancy agreement and develop skills and resilience.

Key responsibilities include:

• You will always ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service including ensuring that Safeguarding and emergency alert procedures are followed as laid out in Depaul’s Policy and Procedures.
• You will ensure the high quality of risk and needs assessments, SMART outcomes-based support plans and case files for clients of your line reports.
• You will deliver one-to-one and group support opportunities within their accommodation and in the local community aimed at increasing resilience in the clients we work with.
• You will proactively partner with consortium colleagues, Lambeth and local agencies including statutory teams, to support the wellbeing of Depaul clients following data protection and information sharing protocols.
• You will be flexible, reflective and creative in your engagement with clients and personalised in your support to them.
• You will support all clients to participate in Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities as appropriate to the development of their skills, assets and aspirations, through facilitating the work of Depaul’s Community Programmes Team.

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

• An understanding and commitment to working in an assets-based way.
• Good level of experience working with people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance use or have a history of living in care.
• Relevant life experience is desirable
• Experience in using Risk Assessments and Support Planning.

We have an opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to join us at Essex Wildlife Trust to be the senior operational lead for our Nature Discovery Centres across Essex.

Our aim is to widen access to nature, provide great wildlife experiences, deepen nature connection, and ultimately encourage the people of Essex to take individual and collective action for wildlife.

Our Nature Discovery Centres are important gateways to nature, allowing us to engage with millions of visitors every year.  We are also the largest county-based provider of outdoor education in the UK, providing learning opportunities for all stages of life. We therefore have a unique opportunity to engage with the people of Essex, to communicate the value of the Trust’s work, and to clearly articulate why we need their involvement in delivering meaningful change to protect nature and wildlife.

The Head of Nature Discovery Centres is responsible for the operation of the Trust’s 11 Nature Discovery Centres at reserves across Essex. The objectives of the Nature Discovery Centres are to engage and inspire communities to protect our wildlife and wild places, and to generate income for Trust, both through their Retail and Food and Beverage offer and by signing up new Members and encouraging donations.

With a track record in growing businesses in the hospitality and/or retail sector, a focus on customer service and an entrepreneurial attitude, you will work closely with the Commercial Director, Cluster Managers, Central Operations Manager and all Nature Discovery Centres staff to drive the successful operations of the Nature Discovery Centres. The role requires close working with the Engagement directorate for Education, Marketing and Communications input, the Fundraising function for engagement with customers for membership recruitment, and with People and Culture to drive a high performing, high impact combined workforce of staff and volunteers. A close relationship with the Conservation teams at the Nature Discovery Centres will also be essential.

As a leader, you will have the capabilities to build relationships across the organisation, be a skilled communicator, expert influencer and have strong financial/analytical skills. Your role spans both strategic planning, project and operational delivery and is a key member of the Trust’s Operational Leadership Team, working with other Heads of department/function.

This is a challenging and varied role, with changing priorities and multiple workstreams at any point in time.

The role is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The starting salary is £43,575 per annum.
