About The Role
The Help for Heroes Community Development team are looking to recruit a team of Community Development Managers to assist in their reshaped participation and connection strategy. Using Asset Based Community Development, we seek to support the charity’s objective to enhance reach and positive impact for members of the Armed Forces Community facing challenges within their local communities.
As a Community Development Manager, you will lead and inspire a team of Community Builders, fostering collaboration, innovation and commitment to community impact working in an ABCD informed way. The aim is to connect and re-engage members of the AFC with the services at Help for Heroes and within the wider community.
This is an exciting and varied role for dynamic and confident individuals, in which the right candidate will work directly within communities across the UK; bringing the Armed Forces Community together to improve wellbeing and make the community a better place to live. The main purpose of the role is to contribute to the leadership of an integrated, community development and hybrid volumizing offer which improves reach and sustained positive impact for members of the Armed Forces community.
About You
You will be responsible for the effective line management of a dispersed community-based team and have experience managing co-designed/co-delivered community development initiatives. You will recognise the potential for growth and expansion within these communities and empower local people to exact changes focused on what’s important to them.
You will have a genuine professional commitment to ABCD informed delivery, possess the capacity to work collaboratively with others and pilot projects for new community development initiatives by identifying and creating viable plans for growth and expansion to increase reach, impact and accessibility across the AFC.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate locality-based Community Development related services

Provide line management for a regionally specific team of Community Builders, positively participating in line management meetings, annual appraisals, monthly and quarterly team meetings as required facilitating 1:1 and group line management supervision including volunteers

Act as safeguarding and health and safety lead for your regional team ensuring safe practice

Set clear objectives and performance expectations for Community Development colleagues/volunteers and programme activity

Identify and leverage community assets and resources to support community development initiatives

PLEASE NOTE: There is a requirement for frequent travel extensively within the regions allocated for this role. There will be evening and weekend working as required and flexibility in working hours is necessary to ensure a total of 70 hours is covered over a 2-week period so please take this into consideration before applying.
We are looking for someone with the following:

Educated to degree level in a relevant field (Social Science, Community Development, Health and Social Care), related field, or hold an equivalent professional Community Development qualification.

Demonstrable experience of senior management/leadership of a Community Development team or integrated multi-disciplinary service informed by Community Development principles

About The Team
You will work as part of the Community Development team; this newly formed team will approach working in defined localities using an asset based community development approach. Together the Community Development Managers and the Community Builders will strengthen local communities using resources and networks that are readily available. You will do this to proliferate opportunities for sustainable participation and engagement alongside a multi-disciplinary team in order to support the Armed Forces Community to live well after service.

About the role
As the new Community and Events Fundraising Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing The Passage's Community Fundraising strategy, designed to inspire and engage both existing and new supporters, ultimately building a stable and sustainable income pipeline.
Main duties

The Supporter-led Fundraising (SLF) Department at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for mass fundraising through enabling individuals and communities to support ARUK through their own talents and passions. The team drives registrations and income through third party, virtual and mass participation events and manages these relationships to maximise income.
The Central Fundraising Team is the beating heart of SLF as they work across Regional, Sporting Events and Marketing & Engagement teams to ensure our supporters receive incredible stewardship to achieve their fundraising goals. They ensure processes are in place to allow teams to work together effectively and maximise opportunities and innovation that come through online fundraising platforms and fundraisers.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Line Management
· Line management of two Central Fundraising Executives and Senior Central Fundraising Officer.
· Monitor, review, and empower the team to ensure effective communication and place CFT as the heart of SLF.
· Support all CFT to reach their non-financial targets.
· Work with Senior Manager and Senior officer to deliver monthly meetings with the whole team to share ideas and creativity, gather feedback and understand successes and challenges.
· Spot potential development opportunities across the team.
Monitoring and Reporting
· Ensure the fundraising CRM is being used consistently across CFT the wider SLF department to facilitate accurate supporter stewardship and financial reporting.
· Effectively understand and communicate reporting processes undertaken by the CFT and gather feedback to ensure these are the most effective for both teams.
· Act as Lead for the Fundraising CRM use for the Community Fundraising Managers, RFOs and Central Fundraising Team to allow accurate, insightful, and consistent reporting.
· Provide the CFT and regionally based teams with the tools they need for effective working relationships.
· Provide a monthly Department Report update for CFT as well as ad-hoc reporting when required.
· Use data and trends to support the SLF leadership team in in budgeting and forecasting.
· Work closely with the Data and Digital teams to monitor SLF’s contactable supporter base and segmentation.
· Assess and address Salesforce training needs across SLF
· Proactively Identify and Resolve Salesforce Issues, escalating to Senior Central Fundraising Manager where appropriate.
Supporter Stewardship
· Lead on the delivery of a unified approach to supporter care across SLF, including use of data, automation, product development and LTV.
· Monitor and gather feedback from employees and supporters about our stewardship and ‘surprise and delight’ offerings, constantly seeking creative and inspirational new stewardship methods and relevant improvements.
· Coordinate the re-engagement stewardship project for all SLF teams, with structured content input from Managers and direction from the CFM responsible for DIY fundraising.
· Inspire and train the CFT to nurture active fundraisers and build relationships to increase long-term loyalty.
· Frequently analyse and understand SLF supporter journeys to ensure they are consistent, ensure collaboration and idea sharing and offer the best level of stewardship for the supporter.
· Understand and analyse how RFOs and CFT steward supporters through to ensure cohesion, passing of leads between teams and sharing best practice across the wider team at all times
· Regularly review and analyse the supporter chase process to ensure we are receiving funds in a timely manner.
· Review and analyse the tiering system regularly to ensure it is fit for purpose and is offering the supporter the best stewardship journey.
· Lead on the implementation of recommendations from the annual mystery shopping exercise.
Project Management
· Become the lead for projects which involve the whole or majority of SLF to ensure tasks are delegated fairly and completed on time. Examples include Skydiving Days and Last Hour of Pay as well as platforms such as Tiltify and GivePanel.
· Be the central expert for SLF-wide process and projects, gathering experience and knowledge from all SLF teams and provide efficient and helpful updates accordingly.
Strategy and Operational Planning
· Provide creative and innovative suggestions for new supporter engagement and online fundraising products and projects. Work closely with the Senior Officers to implement and see through to completion.
· Identify opportunities for growth and diversification within the Online Fundraising space.
· Make recommendations on team structure and resource as part of the Ops Planning process.
· Work with the Director of Supporter-led fundraising to develop our strategic approach to innovation around digital and gaming channels.
Collaboration
· Support the CFT Senior Officer in overseeing the joint working between the Central Fundraising Team, the Regional Fundraising Officers and the Sporting Events Officers ensuring that supporters are given the best level of stewardship.
· Work closely with the Marketing & Engagement Team to share trends, learnings and collaborate on new projects and automated stewardship journeys.
· Continue to improve communications across all departments to ensure all resources are available across all teams.
· To ensure the team is the centre point of SLF and sharing communications regularly and have a good understanding of what is happening across each department.
· Work closely with managers from SLF Departments to ascertain workloads for the rest of CFT and ensure support is consistent across the department. To gain feedback from the different departments as to how processes are working and review for potential changes.
· Continue to review the level of support the team will offer to each SLF Department and ensure this is followed.
· Monitoring CFT and RFO KPIs/Goals to ensure consistency.

Additional Information:

As Philanthropy Manager, you will:
- Identify and qualify a pipeline for up to 6-figure gifts for both unrestricted and restricted giving
- Lead and be supported on building an excellent stewardship programme, supporting relationship managers across the team to deliver sector leading supporter journeys
- Develop and implement strong cultivation and solicitation plans for existing donors to generate significant income from the portfolio. This will include personal meetings, attending networking events, writing proposals/reports and making presentations
- Take an active role where relevant, on the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of philanthropy events, including events that are hosted by Ambassadors
Ideal skills and experience:
- Experienced in a similar fundraising role, with a knowledge of major donor fundraising, ideally within an international development or humantarian NGO
- Ability to input into fundraising strategies with a track record of securing 4-5 figure gifts and delivering against targets
- Experienced in stewardship strategies for major donors or the development of supporter journeys in order to retain donors
- A relationship focussed approach with strong networking skills at senior levels internally and externally

This role is responsible for supporting the growth, planning and delivery of KCLSU campaigning and organising activity ensuring that elected officers, Academic Associations, Networks and students are enabled and empowered to create strategic, member-led campaigns. Support our members to develop, shape and deliver their agenda, providing advice, coaching and guidance on how to develop impactful campaigns and projects. Work as part of the Student Voice Team to embed campaigning and organising across all areas of our work ensuring that students from every segment of the membership are empowered to make change through campaigns. Enable our communities (Academic Associations, Liberation Networks and Student Representatives) to grow and develop into effective representative bodies.
Responsibilities include:
Growing, planning & delivering KCLSU campaigns
- Provide resources, support and mentoring to student officers and student campaigners, utilising digital and offline organising models of engagement, to support them to develop hard-hitting and effective campaigns.
- Coordinate and work with KCLSU teams to support representatives and members in delivering their campaigns and communicate the impact of campaigning at KCLSU, building interest and recruiting new activists as a result.
- Deliver a range of approaches to student voice engagement, developing diverse methods of participation and innovative practices for facilitating student decision-making, co-creation, and capturing insight.
- Work with external organisations to lead on KCLSU involvement in local, national and NUS campaigns.
- Responsible for measuring and reporting the impact of our campaigns.
Developing Student Representative Communities
- Support Networks, Academic Associations and Campaign groups on-going growth and development, supporting them to build inclusive, active, and intersectional student-led communities.
- Engage with representatives through coaching, building relationships and providing support as they develop and deliver their campaigning and organising agenda.
- Ensure participation in representation is accessible and inclusive, identifying and removing barriers to engagement particularly for low participation groups.
Leadership Development
- Create and deliver training, guidance and ongoing support for Student Officers, Student Representatives and Academic Associations, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.
- Build strong and nurturing relationships with student representatives and Academic Association leaders, coordinating effective engagement and regular contact with our members.

That is why Little Hearts Matter exists. We wrap a blanket of understanding and care around families at every stage of their half a heart journey. We are always here when they need us.
Without donations, Little Hearts Matter would not be able to offer our services, free of charge, to support individuals and families across the UK. We do not receive any government funding for our work. Our fundraising team is essential to raising these vital funds—over £440,000 annually. A better future for seriously ill children starts with you, our Fundraising Manager, within our three-person fundraising team.
In your first three months, you will get to know the charity well and figure out who our current supporters are. You will devise a plan for how you will use your experience to raise money, with a focus on building our challenge and events portfolio. Little Hearts Matter (LHM) is a national charity with over 7000 members. We are the only charity in the UK that offers support and information to, and represents the needs of, children and families following a diagnosis of single ventricle heart disease (half a working heart). These congenital cardiac conditions can never be cured, even following repeated surgery, so the children must learn to live within the restrictions that their disability and fears for their future create.
Little Hearts Matter is there from the time parents learn of their child’s condition, through risk-filled treatment into a challenged-filled life at home. Working as part of the fundraising team, the Fundraising Manager will:
- Be responsible for their own portfolio of supporters, maintaining and growing income, regularly forecasting income and expenditure against agreed targets (circa. £200,000+ annually)

The project will focus on 27.4 hectares of ancient woodland habitat in the largest remining tract of the Great North Wood in South London. This natural heritage is a vital resource for the local community – the Woods saw an unprecedented 81% increase in footfall during the height of the pandemic, with visitor numbers increasing from 189,645 in 2019 to 343,385 in 2020. Only fragments of the ancient Great North Wood landscape remain; this project will help to ensure the long-term protection of the largest area of remaining Woodland.
As Project Manager, you can expect to:
- Oversee all work, ensuring that all project work is completed on time and to budget as described in the delivery phase, holding quarterly meetings to ensure we’re on track

This role is responsible for the management and development of the Forcesline service and will also act as point of contact for the Veterans Gateway. What you need to succeed
- Proactive and confident self-starter with either direct experience of raising funds or from equivalent experience gained either within the voluntary sector or the commercial world.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with an enthusiastic and positive approach.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to contribute towards the success of the Community Fundraising team and wider team at Hearing Dogs.
- Computer literate with MS365 applications and knowledge and experience of databases and an ability to keep accurate records of all contacts and relevant information.
- Ability to work on own, without close and constant support and supervision and to be able to handle pressure, deadlines and targets.
