About the role

We’re looking for a Media and Communications Officer to join our Media and PR team.

As a member of the team, you'll have a fundamental role in helping us to deliver on our promise to support young people and their families to deal with the impact of cancer, both during and beyond treatment.

This role, working together with other members of the Policy, Communications and Voice directorate and the wider charity, will help us achieve this by amplifying the voices and experiences of children and young people with cancer, influencing the system to create change and raising awareness and funds.

This role is subject to a criminal record check. In the event of a successful application a basic criminal record check will be completed.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Contributing to the development and delivery of the charity’s strategic media plan.
• Developing and implementing creative, effective communications plans for campaigns and projects, in-line with the charity’s overall strategic objectives.
• Writing materials for a range of on and offline channels and platforms including press releases, features, articles, opinion pieces and statements; ensuring these reflect Young Lives vs Cancer’s values and key messages.
• Developing real life stories based on the experience of children and young people, and their families, including interviewing, writing up and arranging photography and film content for use across the charity.
• Establishing quality effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including Media and News outlets, journalists and charity partners.
• Participating in the reactive news desk rota, responding to urgent media enquiries and providing advice to staff and senior managers in order to promote and guard the charity’s reputation. This includes taking part in the out of hours rota as required
• Briefing national, regional and local media (print, broadcast and online) on Young Lives vs Cancer and its activities.

The Role
Are you passionate about communication and marketing with lots of creative ideas? We’re looking for an experienced Communications & Marketing professional to diversify and grow our UK supporter base. You will be responsible for our communications and digital marketing strategy to drive and increase supporter engagement. Working remotely, you will be an integral part of a small team in the UK, reporting to the Head of Fundraising and collaborating with colleagues in India and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively create captivating and impactful content to support UK fundraising and advocacy objectives to broaden HOPE UK’s online presence and brand awareness.
• To optimise and increase engagement across social media platforms by identifying relevant opportunities to engage with online influencers, patrons and ambassadors, third parties, and key UK supporters in order to raise awareness of HOPE UK’s activities and programmes in Kolkata.
• Scheduling and sharing content provided by HOPE Kolkata, HOPE UK’s Head of Fundraising, and third-party supporters, and adapting this content to create engaging posts across HOPE UK’s platforms.
• Monitoring and managing HOPE UK’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and setting up a new LinkedIn account).Responding and engaging with comments, as needed. The role requires flexibility to enable monitoring channels.
• Managing HOPE UK’s communications calendar and overseeing content to ensure a consistent tone and brand across all channels.
• Ensuring HOPE UK’s compliance with law [website] copyright and data protection.

Experience and Skills

·Experience working in a Communications & Marketing role within the charity sector, preferably an international children’s charity.

·Experience of successfully increasing supporter engagement online and analysing results.

·A sound understanding of SEO, web metrics, analytics, and keyword search.

·Knowledge of various social media channels and understanding of the granularity of audiences.

·Experience of using a range of multi-media tools (e.g., Canva, InDesign) to create engaging content to support fundraising campaigns, increase brand awareness, and help drive donations. 

·Knowledge of maximising sponsored campaigns and creating targeted posts (notably, on LinkedIn).

·An aptitude to work both independently and as part of a small team who all work remotely. 

·A sound knowledge of English (written and verbal).

·Copywriting experience would be beneficial.  

·Good communication and networking skills and an ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders.

·An ability to think both creatively and strategically.

·Experience working with and managing Google Ads/GDN 

·Experience of writing and pitching press releases an advantage.

·Knowledge of updating a website (WordPress and WooCommerce).

·Knowledge of a CRM (Beacon) and optimising data integrations and web forms

The Team

IPS Grow is a national programme designed to support the expansion of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services in mental health, primary care, and drug and alcohol teams across England. The programme is led by the organisation in partnership with the Centre for Mental Health. It is funded by NHS England and Improvement (NHSE/I), the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID).

About the Role

The Workforce Leads will play a crucial role in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of IPS Employment Specialists within their designated regions. You will support the scale up of the IPS workforce by ensuring high-quality recruitment processes, comprehensive training programs, and effective onboarding practices. The Workforce Leads will work closely with IPS Grow Regional Managers, local and national stakeholders, including NHS services, to recruit the IPS workforce needed to achieve high levels of employment outcomes for IPS clients.

You will provide specialist support to services embarking on recruitment campaigns, monitor their effectiveness and share learning. You will also provide hands-on support for recruitment efforts and training.

We’re looking for a Direct Response Marketing Officer to join our busy and thriving Events Marketing team. This role will manage and deliver multi-channel marketing campaigns, driving participation in our sports, challenge, and mass event program.
You’ll report to the Events Marketing Campaign Manager. The Events Marketing team is part of the Events team and sits in the wider Income and Engagement directorate. The Events Marketing team is responsible for recruiting event participants across a range of sports, challenge, and mass events, as well as involvement in retention strategies to cross-sell our supporters into other fundraising products.
You will:

- Work with different teams across the organisation, as well as with our media agency and external stakeholders, to brief, optimise and evaluate marketing campaigns, with a focus on monitoring performance and coordinating evaluations.
- Make recommendations to help inform and improve future campaigns.
- Write marketing copy for your campaigns, work closely with internal and external designers to develop creative ideas, and produce post-campaign reports.

The Maternal Mental Health Alliance’s (MMHA) Everyone’s Business campaign calls for all women throughout the UK who experience a perinatal mental health problem to receive the care and support they and their families need, wherever and whenever they need it. This role will play a key part in supporting MMHA’s successful campaign and helping drive change for women, babies and families affected by mental health problems during pregnancy and after birth.

Job purpose

• Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the MMHA campaigns.
• Contribute to researching and producing campaign materials.
• Maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders to support campaign objectives, including MMHA members, MPs, academics and lived experience champions.
• Support MMHA projects, contributing to the delivery of the MMHA’s strategy.
• Support the campaign team with administrative tasks, meetings and events.

Main responsibilities

• Work with the Head of Campaigns and Policy, Communications Manager, and senior leadership to develop and deliver campaigning activities to improve maternal mental health care in the UK.
• Support the production of campaign resources, including desk research, drafting copy, and proofreading.
• Reading and summarising policy information, such as reports.
• Lead political monitoring, tracking relevant policy developments, identifying opportunities for engagement with MPs and attending meetings.
• Support campaign communication activities, including press and social media support, website editing and copywriting for articles or newsletters.
• Lead monitoring of work with academic partners, maintaining records, liaising with partners and participating in projects, as requested.
• Support campaigning in the devolved nations, identifying cross-nation opportunities.
• Assist the Head of Campaigns and Policy and wider team with administrative and other tasks, including the organisation and facilitation of meetings and events and responding to routine enquiries.
• Help support MMHA projects, as required.
• Work with the team on campaign evaluation.

Essential skills and experience
