Key Responsibilities

Financial:

• Raising purchase orders, processing purchase invoices & expenses & making payments.
• Ensuring appropriate backup is saved within Xero to support accounting transactions.
• Liaising with wholesale customers, raising sales invoices and reviewing ageing debtors following up on payments.
• Routine communication regarding financial information with regulators and banks.

Board of Trustees & CEO support:

• Arranging Board and committee meetings - securing dates, venue bookings, preparing and collating papers and presentations, taking minutes and facilitating actions.
• Coordinate Trust policy reviews and ensure these are completed in a timely manner
• Organising team meetings, team awaydays and collating and sharing information and notes arising from those sessions

Recruitment & HR:

• Preparing documentation & placing adverts.
• Organising interviews both in person and online.
• Processing documentation - new starter details, contracts & updating the HR system.
• Organising and booking staff training as required.
• Arranging DBSs for staff and trustees as required.

Retail:

• Monitoring online stock levels, placing orders for merchandise, and liaising with our fulfilment centre.
• Ensuring our retail management system contains up to date data, by reviewing stock takes, accurately processing orders and updating the database as appropriate.
• Producing quarterly stock take reports.
• Supporting the sales team at Port Lockroy.

General:

• Monitoring inbox, office telephone & postbag
• Working flexibly with colleagues in the broader support of the aims of the Trust. Providing ad hoc administrative support as required.

Location: This position is based in our Cambridge office, where we operate a hybrid working model - a flexible blend of homeworking with essential office-based work at the office at High Cross, Madingley Road, Cambridge, CB3 0ET.

Salary: £28,000 pro rata

Working Hours

• 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
• Flexible working hours available; to be agreed upon appointment.
• You will also be required from time to time to work occasional evenings and weekends for which you will be granted time off in lieu.

Holidays: 25 days pro rata per year of paid leave plus the usual public holidays.

Director of Programmes & Funding

Job Title: Director of Programmes & Funding

Salary: Circa £75,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full-time with hybrid working arrangement; flexible working options available (minimum 4 days per week with at least 40% spent in the office).

Location: Hybrid working blending home working with our locations in Chelsea or Harefield Hospital, with a minimum of 40% time spent in the office.

This pivotal role within our charity ensures the effective management of our grant programmes, designs new programmes and initiatives, and determines funding needs to maximise our impact. Reporting directly to our CEO, the Director of Programmes & Funding works closely with internal and external stakeholders, including trustees, hospital partners, and other health funders. You will play a crucial role in developing and aligning our funding strategies with our mission to advance care for those affected by heart and lung diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Funding & Programme development: Lead the design and development of funding programmes, working with hospital partners and external funders to identify and create new funding opportunities that align with our strategic goals and meet the needs of heart and lung patients.

• Senior Leadership Contribution: Provide leadership across the charity, contributing to organisational development, decision-making, and supporting the CEO in leading the charity’s strategic direction.

• Team Management: Lead the Grants team, overseeing the planning and management of workloads, and ensuring high standards of support and development within the team.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with trustees and hospital leadership, representing the charity in external meetings, and supporting the CEO in organisational leadership.

• Programme Oversight: Manage the charity’s grant processes, including strategic planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation, to ensure impactful and efficient funding.

• Governance & Compliance: Oversee risk management in relation to funding, and ensure our grant schemes are compliant with charity law, governance standards, public sector financial guidance, and our aim to achieve membership of the Association of Medical Research Charities

Summary of What We’re Looking For:

• Substantial experience in leading programmes and funding functions, within a relevant not-for-profit setting (eg hospital or healthcare charity).

• Proven ability in managing and reporting the impact of charitable programmes to senior stakeholders and boards / committees.

• Deep understanding of the healthcare context, including political context, research and innovation environments, partnered with an understanding of the charity landscape.

• Strong strategic thinking with excellent leadership skills and experience in managing and developing others.

• Educated to at least degree level in a relevant field (such as biomedical science) or equivalent relevant work experience.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and synthesise technical medical information to specialists and non-specialists.

The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in biomedical sciences or a related field, complemented by proven experience in enhancing Programme and Funding operations within a relevant organisation. They would also demonstrate a track record of contributing to organisational strategy.

Safe Passage International (SPI) is recruiting an Arrivals and Social Support Worker to support to continuing and sustainable growth in our ground-breaking work to ensure that safe routes to sanctuary exist for all people seeking asylum, and that the young people and families we work with have dignity and safety on arrival.

This Arrivals and Social Support Worker will work with young people and families to support them in their reunification and arrival to the UK. This legal casework is facilitated by our UK Legal Team and covers a range of geographic regions inside and outside of Europe, including responding to emerging crises such as working to support people fleeing Afghanistan, Ukraine, Sudan and Palestine.

Reunification and resettlement is a difficult process. This role will involve conducting pre-arrival needs assessments, preparing the family for the reunification, and supporting them after they arrive in the UK. The Arrivals and Social Support Worker will also help young people and families transition into their new life, by supporting them with the practical and emotional aspects of resettling in the UK. You will work with the family and professionals and act as a bridge into longer term services and support. This role will also provide social support on a case-by-case basis for others in vulnerable situations, including family members pre-arrival, as well as to those on our Young Leaders Programme. This is a challenging and extremely rewarding role for candidates with a good understanding of the challenges young people and refugees face on arrival to the UK.

We are looking for candidates with strong social support skills, as detailed in the Person Specification. Experience in a similar role would be welcome, but this could also be your first paid position in the charity sector, or you could be returning to work after time out. This position will have a dedicated training budget and you will be supported to grow and develop within your role.

Role overview.

Complete international grant expenditure audits for a diverse range of projects (grant recipients) funded by international donor institutions ranging from emergency aid, to long term development in areas such as agriculture, health or infrastructure or technical research. Assignments are 1-3 weeks in length and based across the European mainland and the developing world. Financial Accountant

The Financial Accountant is a temporary but crucial role for the Diocese, as you will ensure that our processes and financial information are accurate and efficient, in time for next year’s financial end.

As Financial Accountant you will be responsible for the restricted and designated funds of the Diocese, preparing monthly reports and year end schedules whilst proactively reviewing the portfolio of restricted funds to ensure full utilisation against unrestricted expenditure. You will also take the lead on the re-organisation of investment funds to ensure efficient month end processes as well as managing the fixed asset journals and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage the preparation of VAT Return workings and associated reconciliations whilst delivering the monthly close process, analysing transactions and preparing required journals.

It is expected that you will proactively challenge and improve processes to ensure that currently held information or journals meet the audit standard.

Degree qualified or with a professional accountancy, finance or related qualification, you will have experience in VAT return preparation and compliance.

With the ability to interpret financial entries to understand the nature of the financial transactions, you should have excellent problem-solving abilities and be proactive in reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and clearing/or allocating balances.

Your detail-oriented approach towards accuracy and completeness in financial records and reports will ensure you are able to propose improvements to financial procedures and operations.

An advanced knowledge and understanding of Excel, including pivot tables, sumif/sumifs and vlookups along with a thorough understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements, are essential.

A natural communicator, you should have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills as well as having the ability to work well in a team and build effective working relationships with colleagues, and external stakeholders, suppliers and customers.

The Role 

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us in the position of Research and Policy Officer to work on a full-time basis, 37 hours per week; alternatively, we will consider part-time hours on a Job Share basis. The role is hybrid and based in Newcastle upon Tyne or within a commutable distance to our national Headquarters in the city. 

A part of NEA’s Policy and Advocacy Directorate, you will work within our highly effective social research team as we focus on a decade of delivery that will ensure those on the lowest incomes and living in the least efficient homes receive the support needed to ensure their health and wellbeing are protected, but also one that guarantees a fair energy future for all.

The successful candidate will work and collaborate on the design, development and delivery of social research and evaluation projects that support the charity’s strategic aims and policy advocacy priorities. As well as undertaking mixed methods social research that foregrounds the lived experience of households, they will develop research-user and stakeholder relationships and integrate evidence-based insights from across the charity’s work programmes to influence and have impact across multiple areas of social policy and practice.

What you will need to succeed 

You will have demonstrable and applied experience in a social research role and hold a degree in a social science or related subject that included social research methods. You will be familiar and confident with both quantitative and qualitative methods and be highly motivated and purpose-driven, with a passion for research that leads to real-world impacts. 

A compelling communicator you will be able to produce well-structured reports, and have excellent interpersonal skills, including experience of leading one-to-one and group interviews.

You will also have proven experience of analysis software, SPSS and Nvivo (or similar), and competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite/365 applications. 

You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of NEA’s mission to eradicate fuel poverty. 

We are offering 

• £32,641 - £37,304 per annum, Scale SO1 – SO2, Points 23-28.

As Senior Individual Giving Fundraiser, you’ll work as part of the Public Fundraising team responsible for managing a portfolio of Individual Giving campaigns from inception through to evaluation to generate funds, improve engagement and increase life-time value of existing supporters.

Permanent, 35 hours per week

Location: Here East Press Centre, 14 East Bay Lane, London, E15 2GW with working from home most of the time. 

The role 

In this role, you will:

• Be responsible for project leading on our retention campaigns, coordinating with a number of different stakeholders, both internal and externally.

• Be expected to manage budgets

• Provide a data and insight-led, audience-focused and rewarding supporter journey that maximises lifetime value of the supporter.

• Work with the Supporter Retention Lead to deliver campaigns against agreed budgets

• Be an excellent fundraiser with vast experience managing large scale retention campaigns, including but not limited to direct mail, tele-fundraising and digital.

• Have an interest in testing new campaigns, and a passion for raising funds to enable Scope to continue the work that they do.

 Successful candidates for the National Officer will be able to demonstrate:

· Experience of team leadership, people management and development

· Understanding of the political processes in the UK and the role and work of trade unions

The main duties of the National Officer role include:

· Contribute to the strategic development of the Union’s policy objectives including the PCS planning process

· Manage people and resources in allocated area

· Represent PCS at external meetings

· Provide input into budgetary processes including bid preparation, monitoring and control where relevant

Your role will require you to travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes and within community settings across the area to meet with clients and professionals. About you
