To work alongside the Donor Development & Legacies Lead (DDLL) to help develop MSF’s donor development strategy to increase the lifetime value (LTV) of MSF UK supporters, by enhancing their knowledge and understanding of humanitarian action and their awareness of the importance of their own support to MSF. Key responsibilities:
Communications
• Manage our social media channels and research which new channels should be set up in order to keep up to date with current social media visibility and trends

• Monitor and analyse communication metrics to assess effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
Fundraising
• Develop fundraising strategy, both ongoing and episodic e.g. Big Give (campaigns and initiatives) to support the charity's operational needs and long-term sustainability working with the CEO & Trustees.
• Work alongside bookkeeper and leadership team to set fundraising priorities
• Maintaining and expanding a regular giving campaign and promote it to increase individual direct debit and other digital regular giving
• Plan and organise fundraising events, charity drives, and online fundraising campaigns.
• In cooperation with the team, drive preparation of grant proposals and reports to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
• Scope out potential to extend our services through the launch of a Hosting Scheme
• Collaborate with internal teams, including staff and volunteers, to gather stories, testimonials, and programmatic data for communication and fundraising purposes

Donor Relations
• Maintain excellent relation with donors by acknowledgement, providing updates on impact, and maintaining ongoing communication.

BACKGROUND
The External Communications Officer forms part of the Communications and Engagement Directorate, reporting into the Senior External Communications Manager. Given the growth of the Institute, the external communications officer would join a busy team in a vibrant and energetic communications and marketing department. The postholder manages a wide portfolio of projects, announcements and collaborations, working with stakeholders and partner organisation at the local, national and international level. The External Communications Officer will provide proactive comms planning and project management, media support, advice and expertise on matters relating to the Institute’s external communications.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
We’re seeking a candidate with strong written & oral communication skills and demonstrable experience of collaborating with peers & technical experts to create engaging, insight driven communication plans. You should have strong knowledge of current communication industry trends and experience in working with the media in a press office or communications environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with liaising and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders and be able to work flexibly whilst managing a varied workload to tight deadlines.
DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
External communications
- Support priority Turing projects (such as our grand challenges) by being a key contact point for research teams, providing trusted advice and working with your colleagues in the wider comms and engagement directorate to create and deliver related communications plans

- Sourcing, writing or editing accurate and creative content such as newsletter articles, blogs, case studies, researcher spotlights or briefing documents

Media relations

Role Requirements
- Working alongside the Head of Public Fundraising, you will strengthen and implement business planning, pipeline and budgeting processes as well as devise comprehensive audience-led stewardship plans, maintaining momentum and focus to achieve targets.
- Lead the implementation and delivery of the strategy for the Events and Partnerships teams and work with the Head of Public Fundraising and the teams to develop and review strategies to maximise income from events and partnerships

- Lead the Events team to review and overhaul our current events programme so that we are maximising net income and ROI as well as meeting the needs of our supporters and local community, and building connections and long-term relationships with our events supporters
- Work across the Retail, Fundraising and Communications directorate to maximise opportunities for contact mapping, cross-sell and support the activity of other teams within the directorate (including but not limited to stock donations, sponsorship of committee-led events, pro bono support, gifts in kind etc.)
- Be responsible for the implementation of the budgets and delivery of income and expenditure against the plans
- Bring the Events and Partnerships teams together to ensure that we are seizing opportunities to integrate the programmes, for instance through corporate sponsorships of events, employee volunteering or participation, donated goods for raffles and auctions, match funding and more

The Head of Fundraising & Communication is responsible for the generation of funds for Kintsugi Hope by a variety of income streams and for ensuring the Kintsugi Hope brand and services are marketed throughout the UK. The Project Manager role in the Strategy and Planning Team will help us to continue to improve the delivery of our projects and programmes, and so to achieve our desired outcomes for children and families. You will enable and support the delivery of our strategy business plan. You will help to manage and carry out plans and projects, conduct ongoing monitoring, have the ability to adapt to changes along the way, and will collaborate with colleagues. You will have the rare skill of being able see the big picture - to help teams and projects to best contribute to our strategy and mission – with being comfortable working with data and detail – to ensure project management documentation and deliverables are accurate and logical.
You will report to and work closely with the Strategy and Business Planning Lead, to support delivery of BookTrust’s strategy through business planning, project management, measurement of progress and impact, and governance matters. The Project Manager, Strategy and Planning team, will work with all the teams across BookTrust, and with staff at all levels of seniority.
