About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team to provide administrative and event delivery support across all event and fundraising activities. This will include a wide range of support tasks pre-event, onsite and post-event for the BOA’s flagship event, BOA Annual Congress, and other educational, social and fundraising events, both face to face and virtual, delivered by the team. In addition, the postholder will be responsible for maintaining comprehensive administration systems across the events and fundraising team, corresponding with members, Stakeholders, delegates, fundraisers etc, using the CRM database, updating event and fundraising content on the BOA website, and supporting content creation for social media.

Grants Manager-Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

Salary: £40, 560 per annum.

Contract status: Full time to December 2025, with the potential to extend

The Ukraine Humanitarian appeal raised £439 million and helped an estimated 6.9 million people in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The Grants Manager is integral in working closely with DEC colleagues and members to build and sustain, a solid understanding of the evolving humanitarian context. The Grants Manager will maintain strong oversight of the DEC funded programme including the reporting cycle, adaptive programming and facilitate strong and relevant engagement with DEC member charities and local partners and external briefings over the duration of the response.

Key responsibilities:

Communication and Collaboration

• Key programmes point of contact regarding the DEC funded programme, responding to enquiries from member charity programmes and other related staff, facilitating timely and accurate communication.
• Maintain strong understanding of response context.
• Manage and provide timely, response briefings to internal and external audiences, key stakeholders including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office [FCDO] and, other key stakeholders.

Analysis and Reporting

• Review, evaluate, and advise on member charity plans and reports for consistency, trends analysis and coherence of data across submitted documentation.
• Contribute to the review and analysis of plans and reports submitted by member charities in response to DEC appeals.
• Share timely and relevant information and analysis from plans and reports with DEC member charities and local partners. 
• Manage external reporting requirements including preparation of stakeholder reports and infographics.

Management and Leadership

• Coordinate the team’s surge capacity to deliver points above, which may involve managing and inducting a team of external consultants and training them in the use of our knowledge management system [Box].
• Coordinate with the Programme Quality, Accountability & Learning team to ensure monitoring, learning and accountability initiatives are timely and appropriate to the response.
• Support with real-time reviews, community perception studies and other related MEAL activities.

If you have recently worked in any of DEC’s 15 member charities, and have demonstratable humanitarian experience of Ukraine, with the competence to prepare timely/accurate reports and deliver credible presentations to diverse audiences, then you will be perfect to join an incredible team and organisation.

We cannot predict the need for a future appeal, but should one occur during the contract for this role, the successful applicant may be asked to stay on for an extended period.

The Qualifications Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that our qualifications will give fundraisers professional recognition, increased insight, and improved job prospects.

Job Purpose

• Supporting the Director of Operations and working alongside the Professional Development Manager, you will have responsibility for the management of all the Chartered Institute’s existing qualifications.
• You will be responsible for the academic integrity of qualification-related learning products, including responsibility for the assessment and external verification processes.
• You will also be responsible for project managing the rewrite of our Level 4 Certificate and Level 5 Diploma qualifications through a team of experienced tutors.
• You will scope the opportunity to deliver a Level 3 and Level 6 qualification for future release, offering modular options for students.
• In addition, you will contribute to our journey to achieving awarding status from Ofqual and work with the Executive Director of Change on the final stage of our chartered status, achieving the power to award Individual chartered status for fundraisers.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide support to potential, current, and future students including advising on suitable courses and qualifications, assessment, and options for their career path.
• Maintain excellent relationships with the Chief Examiner, External Examiner, and qualification tutors in relation to assignments or examinations.
• Attend the annual Exam Board (and qualification faculty training days) supporting the administration as appropriate.
• Be the key point of contact with external partners for the delivery of apprenticeships including Registered Training Providers, the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), Ofqual, and the Institute for Apprenticeships.

The Programme Officer will work within the Conflict Advisory Unit (CAU). The CAU provides high-quality advisory and technical support to a range of aid actors across the humanitarian, development and peacebuilding sectors, including donor institutions, UN agencies, international and national NGOs, civil society organisations, financial institutions and the private sector to integrate conflict sensitivity principles and practices into their strategies, policies, and programmes. The CAU runs remote conflict sensitivity/ peace and security helpdesks for donors, implements in-country conflict sensitivity facilities (currently in Afghanistan, South Sudan and Sudan), and undertakes bespoke conflict sensitivity work.  

In additional to the CAU, the Programme Officer will work with country programme teams and other teams across Saferworld to support the uptake of more conflict-sensitive ways of working across diverse conflict-affected contexts and help to promote learning and good practice on adopting conflict-sensitive approaches. The Funding Management team is looking for a Funding Manager, in Belfast.

This role is responsible for all aspects of funding management across a portfolio of restricted funds, ensuring that we are meeting all the Funders and The Trusts requirements. Working effectively across teams to maximise income, increase performance and ensure compliance, to allow The Trust to maximise its support to young people.

You will use your contract/funding management skills to ensure that we are able to maximise income, increase performance and ensure compliance.  By working across teams and drawing on your time management, leadership, communication, governance, audit and problem solving skills you will ensure that expenditure claims and reports are compiled accurately and in a timely fashion, and that we comply with all reporting and evidencing requirements for output monitoring.

You will to ensure that The Trust has accurate monthly accounts by preparing drawdown, accrual and deferral figures for the monthly finance return and regularly reviewing the Debtors Report to ensure sufficient cash flow and will manage all funder and internal audits and ensure recommendations are acted upon, sharing best practice across the team.

Key duties include: 

• Direct line management of the Marketing team, offering day-to-day support and ensuring their ongoing development.
• Work in tandem with the Head of Media and Content to ensure an integrated and collaborative approach to all communications activities.
• Develop and implement Mary’s Meals’ marketing strategy in the UK, linking ongoing progress to key organisational KPIs, with a strong emphasis on digital communications.​​

• Lead the development and implementation of innovative marketing activities (including the use of new channels) to retain existing supporters and identify creative ways to acquire new audiences. 
• Manage the UK website, working closely with colleagues in the international digital team to ensure the site is functioning well, generating traffic and income, and attracting new supporters to our work. ​
• Lead SEO strategy including team utilisation of SEMrush and being an advocate for AI within this space.
• Lead our approach to segmented communications for email marketing and direct mail, developing our supporter journeys and ensuring an ongoing testing and learning approach is in place. ​
• Working closely with Data Insights where required, lead the tracking and analysis of marketing data, to identify key trends, opportunities and areas for development.​
• Oversee campaigns including the creation of campaign plans, execution and delivery and campaign evaluation. ​
• Drive fundraising and supporter acquisition through the use of digital advertising channels, such as Meta and Google.
• Grow fundraising through the online Mary’s Meals shop, through the diversifying of our product range and improved experience for our supporters.

As an IDVA, you will be able to effectively work with men experiencing domestic abuse, and supporting them to increase their safety and reduce harm. You will be providing high-quality, front-line service to prioritise risk, primarily focusing on males aged 18+.

You will initiate, develop, maintain and monitor multi-agency links through attending meetings such as MARAC and DA (Domestic Abuse) Forums to keep safety central to all services for men suffering/have suffered domestic abuse. You will specialise and be a leading practitioner for Male victims of domestic abuse; providing advice, guidance and single point of contact for male victims. Be willing to co-facilitate workshops across the service to ensure all clients are given the relevant advice in a timely manner.

You will be confident in your DVPO, DAPO, Occupational, restraining and Non-Molestation order knowledge. Be competent in completing the following forms-  DASH (Domestic abuse, Stalking and ‘honour’ based abuse), UPOA (Understanding Picture of abuse), UPOAP (Understanding Picture of a Perpetrator) and safety plans.

Focus on and prioritise high, medium and low risk cases and provide a pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention service, through individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support. Work with victims of domestic abuse to assist them in accessing services to keep them and their children safe.

Understand the legal framework relating to the protection of children and vulnerable adults, including the policy and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board. Providing advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to victims including exploration of legal and civil options, housing, health and finance.

Support clients through the family and/or criminal justice system.

Maintain accurate and confidential case management records and contribute to monitoring information for the service including producing statistics, as required.

Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures, as well as all legislation connected to your work. Remain up-to-date and comply with organisational procedures, policies and professional codes of conduct - uphold standards of best practice.
