Join our retail team as an Assistant Shop Manager at our Dorking shop and support the Shop Manager to maximise shop profit by achieving budgeted income, controlling shop expenditure in line with the shop's budget, and by recruiting and retaining a motivated team of volunteers. You will support the promotion of sustainable shopping and the shop’s social media to increase audience reach, attract customers, donors and volunteer supporters to deliver the Retail Strategy.

Income generation

• Achieve Gift Aid sales conversion target through maximising new donor sign up and encouraging repeat donations.
• Achieve the shops additional fundraising activities i.e., Christmas appeal sales targets through involving the shops team.
• Maintain high levels of shop presentation by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards as set out in the Shops Operations manual.
• Managing the stock levels of bought in/new goods, to include ordering of more stock as and when necessary.

Administration and compliance

• To ensure adherence to The Children’s Trust policies and procedures, in particular ensuring full compliance of the shops in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Trading Standards, Risk Assessments, Gift Aid, Lottery and all other legal or statutory requirements:
• Assist in controlling shop expenditure through effective cost control of weekly expenses.
• Ensure minimum losses of both stock and cash by following bank and till procedures and safeguarding the property of The Children’s Trust at all times.
• Adhere to all Policies and Procedures including those relating to the compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities, Gift Aid and Lottery.
• Complete all administration to meet the requirements, standard and deadlines for whom this work is produced.
• Embrace the change and development of new technology in the shop, for example The Loop (internal intranet) and Chariot (EPOS till system).
• Timely efficient responses to requests for information including voice and email messages.
• To fulfil any other agreed duties that may at times be reasonably required.

Personnel and Training

• To support the Shop Manager to ensure the Shop’s team are recruited, retained and developed:
• Led by the Shop Manager - provides positive, visible and proactive leadership to the Shops team.
• Assist in managing all employees and volunteers within the Shop in accordance with the aims and values of The Children’s Trust.
• Deputise and be accountable for all Shop Manager duties as and when necessary, in their absence due to sickness, holiday or recruitment.
• Assist the Shop Manager to recruit, induct, support, train and retain team of shop volunteers.
• Attend where appropriate, training courses relevant to the development of the role and Retail Sales meetings if required and cascade information to team as appropriate.
• Assist at other shops if requested and where reasonable.

Customer Service

• To ensure customer care and quality of service.
• Provide excellent customer care through quality of service, dealing with complaints both efficiently and effectively, and having a good understanding of what The Children’s Trust does.
• Support other shops and fundraising colleagues as and when necessary.

Hours: 35 hours per week, part-time will be considered minimum 21 hours.

The role

We are looking for someone dynamic and engaging, with excellent communication and volunteer management skills, as well as a commitment to delivering a high-quality service in line with our mission and core values. You should be self-motivated, with experience of working within volunteer management and able to manage ad-hoc corporate groups, short term volunteering schemes as well as long-term and regular volunteers. You should also be able to develop and deliver a range of local volunteer engagement activities. • Deliver the FareShare National volunteer induction programme to maximise the engagement and contribution of each volunteer.

Policies and procedures 

• Implement volunteer management policies and procedures in line with guidance from the FareShare National Volunteering Team.

Making FareShare a destination for volunteering

• Enhance the experience of volunteering at your FareShare Regional Centre by delivering robust policies, together with effective engagement and communication programmes, so that volunteers enjoy what they do and can feel proud of their contribution and become ambassadors. 
• Liaise with FareShare Nationals Marketing & Volunteering Teams to promote and publicise case studies and examples of volunteer success stories. 
• To engage with other FareShare Regional Centres and the FareShare National Volunteering Team on a quarterly basis to deliver UK wide volunteering activity and share good practice.
• Work alongside the FareShare National Volunteering Team to evaluate volunteer experience and establish annual benchmarks for the FareShare Network, including volunteer satisfaction, conversion, retention, training, etc. This will be used for development of recruitment and engagement strategies.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark and drive forward a developing income stream with great potential.

The role will help to build, shape and deliver our In Memory Giving programme over the 12 months of this maternity cover role. Through engaging communications and campaigns the role will grow both income and the pipeline of new donors. This role will manage a range of training and mentoring programmes including virtual and inperson activities. Working with a broad selection of industry partners from across the media and creative industries (including major broadcasters, advertising agencies and tech companies), you will support programme participants to gain the confidence, knowledge, skills and networks to progress their careers in the media, and contribute to developing a more representative media industry.

Key Responsibilities

Programme management and delivery

• Manage all aspects of a range of training and mentoring programmes, ensuring they are high-quality and impactful
• Provide regular project updates to our funders and partners
• Manage programme budgets including monitoring expenditure, forecasting and ensuring all third-party expenses are paid and/or reimbursed appropriately
• Support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the programmes you manage, ensuring impact is evidenced by high quality data, and produce impact reports for key stakeholders

You’ll develop strategies and work across MAP’s digital channels, propositions and products year-round as well as playing a vital role in delivering multi-million pound campaigns during Ramadan and Winter. You’ll bring digital expertise, a supporter-led approach and brilliant creative thinking to develop new insight-led digital campaigns which leverage market opportunities. You’ll be a leader in the Individual Giving team, sharing your curiosity for industry leading campaigns and ideas. You’ll hire and manage a Digital Fundraising Officer, manage income and expenditure budgets and deliver exceptional fundraising and engagement campaigns which maximise income opportunities to support our work in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Lebanon.

Responsibilities:

Strategy Development:

• Lead the development and delivery of Individual Giving strategies across acquisition and retention, leading on MAP’s digital fundraising strategy.
• Ensure strategies focus on optimal return on investment and increasing the life-time-value of MAP’s cash and regular giving supporters.
• Work across and develop MAP’s digital channels, propositions and products year-round, including playing a vital role in delivering multi-million pound integrated campaigns during Ramadan and Winter.

Planning & Management of Campaigns:

• Collaborate with Head of team and peers to develop team plans aligned with the Individual Giving strategy.
• Manage the team to create and optimize insight-driven, supporter-led campaigns.
• Work across teams to deliver an exceptional, consistent and engaging supporter experience.
• Ensure processes and systems are in place to track and meet KPIs, including the development of robust testing plans to optimize campaigns based on evidence and insights.
• Manage and motivate a range of agency partners and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with relevant fundraising legislation and stay updated on changes in relevant thinking and laws.

Innovation:

• Lead the investigation, testing, and implementation of digital-led innovations and improvements for current and new products and platforms.

Budget Management:

• Create annual budgets for the Individual Giving programme, setting income and expenditure targets across a portfolio of products, projects, and campaigns, with support from the Head of team.
• Manage the digital budget, including reporting on management accounts, reforecasting, and assessing risk levels.
• Provide regular income and expenditure projections to the Head of team.

Line Management & Leadership:

• Build and inspire a high-performing, results-oriented team focused on delivering sustainable income to maintain and build on recent digital growth.
• Hire, manage, and develop a Digital Fundraising Officer, setting objectives and supporting them to deliver on these.

Cross-functional work:

Job Requirements

• Relevant experience in fundraising and/or marketing, with expert knowledge of digital marketing – including digital supporter journey development and end-to-end management of campaigns for paid social, search, display/PPC and digital PR.
• Experience in creating and managing large-scale, multi-channel, audience and data-led fundraising and/or marketing campaigns with evidence of income growth across digital channels.
• Strong track record in developing digital marketing strategies and applying best practice in marketing communications.
• Experience in strategic planning, project management, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience of managing external stakeholders and agency partners – including creative, digital and donation platform providers.

Safeguarding Culture

• Embed a safeguarding culture where it is everyone’s responsibility to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk and safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do

• Lead on the development and implementation of The Diana Award’s Safeguarding Strategy and Framework

• Take responsibility and oversee The Diana Award’s newly formed external safeguarding Commitee, in line with the group’s terms of reference. Working with them, and internal stakeholders to ensure best practice across the organisations.  

  Case Management:

  • Take the day-to-day lead on managing and actioning anything which constitutes a safeguarding concern in line with our Safeguarding Policy; this includes making referrals to and liaising with The Diana Award's Safeguarding Committee, statutory organisations and other agencies/organisations as appropriate

• Provide specialist advice and support to staff and volunteers across the organisation in all aspects of safeguarding, ensuring best practice and accountability. Attend events and training as the Designated Safeguarding Lead where required

Safeguarding by Design

• Review and update The Diana Award’s Safeguarding policies and procedures, creating new procedures as required and ensure wider policies have considered safeguarding requirements

• Work with teams across the organisation to ensure a ‘safeguarding by design’ approach to all programme design, implementation and partner/stakeholder relationships

• Develop, implement and deliver a robust training programme that equips staff and volunteers with effective tools to safeguard services users and themselves

• Involve young people in building safe practices and programmes through existing channels (e.g., youth boards, surveys)

Your role

You will work most closely with colleagues in Music, Creative Industries and Communications as currently this is where a lot of our project work and innovative activity is situated. However, your role will have an impact across the whole department and beyond fundraising as you work with the Senior Creative Industries Projects Manager to lead teams of colleagues to deliver superb projects and genuinely innovative activities.

You will use your experience from a range of cultural settings to drive attaching the right names, the right feeling, ambition, timing and storytelling to all of the projects you work on, underpinning all aspects of project management with genuine innovation, creativity and understanding the nature of the industry you are navigating.

You will proactively project manage a range of projects and support the delivery of others. You will design and lead research and development projects, growing the pipeline of fundraising opportunities and expanding our work across the creative industries, contributing to the vision of War Child being the charity of the Creative Industries. 

Your responsibilities

· Work with the Senior Creative Industries Projects Manager to implement a range of cross-team fundraising events & initiatives, leading aspects of the project as agreed.

· Lead the delivery and strategically grow major cornerstone project and annual fundraiser Secret 7”. You will devise project plans, manage complex budgets and coordinate cross team engagement, evaluating working nimbly throughout to adjust priorities and resolve issues, in order to maximise income.

· Lead on the department's ecommerce platform with support from the Creative Industries Executive, including building creative campiagns and concepts, developing, delivering and reporting against annual income targets, creating bespoke product ranges, coordinating cross team collaboration and managing range of external stakeholder relationships in order to maximise shop income and reach ambitious income targets. You will use your initative to make strategic reccomendations based on your research and knowledge of up to date e-commerse trends.

· Proactively research, test and develop new fundraising initiatives that span a range of creative industries including Art, fashion, film, theatre etc. and play a crucial role in annual planning.

· Assess and develop existing income generating projects, analysing risk and opportunity to determine the best way forward. Support the Senior Creative Industries Manager in developing new ideas and building relationships across the creative industries that support the fundraising mission.

· To provide first-rate line management to Creative Industries Executive.  

· Manage relationships and influence at every level of seniority, diplomatically leading working groups and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders in order to deliver collaborative projects and events.

· Identify and build relationships with a range of Creative Ambassadors, developing first rate cultivation plans based on the needs of the Fundraising and Communications teams, to enable sustainable growth.

· Responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting of the activities and income streams that you project manage

· Champion Salesforce usage to increase efficiency of team and work with data team to ensure all Creative Industries are effectively integrated to Salesforce.

· Maintain an up to date knowledge of current activities of War Child and be an advocate of the War Child brand

·  Ensure consistency across all War Child public facing events and activations, specifically that: 

o the WCUK brand is represented in a way that reflects our work on the ground

o our delivery is high quality, professional and in line with the expectations of key stakeholders

o the public messaging for each event is clear, and part of a broader narrative around our story that makes sense

· Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to WCUK’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.

This is an exciting time to join our team in the Development, Alumni and Campaigns Office, and we wish to appoint an individual who shares our passion for the future of UEA. You will join a dedicated and enthusiastic team responsible for securing philanthropic income to support the University. Reporting to the Head of Individual Giving, you will build and manage a portfolio of relationships which will advance the activities of the University. You will recruit, cultivate, solicit and manage a portfolio of major donor prospects, to secure 5 - 6 figure donations towards the University’s new £100m fundraising campaign (launching Autumn 2024).

Educated to degree level, or with equivalent relevant qualification or experience, you will possess excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate a high level of achievement in major gift fundraising and/or managing relationships with volunteers and customers. 

This full-time post is available on an indefinite basis.
