• Income Strategy & Leadership:

Summary of the role:

Cumberland Lodge seeks to appoint a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to ensure that the infrastructure of our organisation (including Finance, HR, Buildings and IT) runs smoothly and efficiently, that we are compliant with applicable legislation and operate in line with best practice, whilst upholding the ethos of the institution and the values that underpin our charitable purpose.

This is a key support role within the organisation, which reports directly to the Chief Executive. We expect the COO role to support the Chief Executive in providing inspirational and authentic leadership to the Executive Team and staff. They should relish maximising revenue from the Lodge’s hospitality offering whilst assisting both the Programme Director and CEO to raise funds in support of our programmes.

Job description

By its very nature the COO role is wide ranging and can vary, however the COO’s core responsibilities are:

• Support the CEO in enhancing and delivering the strategy, managing risk and ensuring that we remain sustainable and competitive as we deliver our charitable mission.
• Provide strategic financial oversight preparing budgets and periodic forecasts and analysis, and monitoring KPIs. This will include monitoring results against budget and working with non-financial managers to understand and act on variances.
• Working with the team to ensure the income generating activities of the Lodge are performing as required.
• Providing insightful reporting to the trustees on financial / non-financial performance (including budgets and KPIs) and risk.
• Provide operational oversight for the Lodge’s key activities and events, working with the CEO and key teams to deliver them.
• Supported by external advisors where appropriate, ensure regulatory compliance in key areas (Charity Commission and company secretarial; financial (including external reporting obligations and tax (we are registered for VAT and have partially exempt status); Health & Safety; Food Safety; Data Protection; etc).
• Review monthly payroll (outsourced), ensuring efficient and compliant payroll management.
• Monitor investment performance (managed funds with CCLA).
• Lead the operation of an efficient, sustainable and ethical organisation, which includes monitoring the organisation’s suppliers and supply chain, reviewing periodically for value, risk, ethics and independence. This may include tendering for larger projects.
• Supported by the HR Officer, oversee recruitment, development, training and retention of a suitable and competent workforce. To include appraisal, pay review, staff development and volunteer management.
• Oversee Information and Communications Technology needs for the staff and guests, including ensuring data is secure, services represent best value, and that the Lodge remains abreast of current best practice, including provision of AV equipment and facilities for virtual/ hybrid events.
• Oversee processes and data use around the organisation, maximising efficiency, data security and communication, minimising duplication and maintaining compliant and efficient data storage
• Maintain an agreed Business Continuity Plan (Disaster Recovery), the Risk Register and Duty Officer rota, including acting as Duty Officer as required.
• Supported by the Buildings Manager, ensure that the Lodge and other buildings and areas entrusted to the organisation by the Crown Estate are well maintained.
• Supported by the Buildings Manager and HR and Operations, co-ordinate the Charity’s Sustainability project
• Manage staff tenancies and rental agreements.
• Oversee the management of our archive and library.
• Manage external relationships with key advisors – including bank, auditors, lawyers, insurance, and investment managers.
• Perform such other duties as will from time to time be reasonably required by the Chief Executive Officer or the Trustees.

Person specification

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

1. ACA qualified, commercially minded accountant with experience in leading the finance operation of an organisation of a similar or larger size (income under £5 million, 60-80 permanent and regular casual staff).

Terms of appointment

Pension: Standard Life contributory pension (currently 10% organisational contributions to support 5% personal contributions, with the option to increase personal contributions above 5%).

What the job involves

As an Engagement Events Executive, you’ll play a vital role in supporting and delivering events within Prostate Cancer UK’s engagement events portfolio, helping to build a program driven by the interests of our audiences. Joining our Customer Engagement and Experience team, you’ll work within the Engagement Events Team and work alongside key internal departments such as the Public Affairs and High Value Fundraising teams to deliver events that meet the highest standards of excellence and create lasting impact, in line with our strategic ambitions.

About the Role:

As our Senior CRM Administrator, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring Compassion’s Salesforce system operates seamlessly and meets the needs of our diverse teams. You’ll be responsible for developing Salesforce, to support critical organisational activities, particularly within fundraising, while ensuring data accuracy and integrity. By managing integrations with third-party systems and internal tools, you’ll help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our CRM system.

This is a highly collaborative role, which requires you to work closely with teams across the organisation, including Fundraising, Digital, and International colleagues. You’ll provide expert guidance on how best to utilise Salesforce, troubleshoot high-level system issues, and produce essential dashboards and reports to inform decision-making. To succeed in this exciting role, you will need to have proven experience in managing Salesforce or a similar CRM system. Previous experience within an NGO or fundraising environment would be desirable, but not essential. We are currently looking to appoint an Impact/ Communications Officer to join our team. This role will principally sit in SMF’s Communications team and will also support the work of the Events and Research functions. The successful candidate will work directly with both teams to ensure that the SMF’s core messages, policy ideas and events reach their intended audiences, and that the SMF’s work has even greater impact on policymaking and public debate.

About the role:

We are looking for an outstanding communicator, with a deep interest in politics and current affairs to join our Impact team. The purpose of the role is to promote SMF’s insightful programme of policy work and research and position the think tank as a centre-ground thought leader in the media and with key political and civil service stakeholders. The role will also involve management of SMF’s social media and digital marketing channels.

The duties of the Impact/ Communications Officer will include, but not be limited to:

• Support the Communications Manager in delivering SMF’s communications strategy.

What we’re looking for:

As an ideal candidate you will have:

• At least a year’s experience working in marketing, digital communications, political campaigns or external affairs. This can be through paid or voluntary work.
• Ability to quickly digest complex research — including academic literature — to deliver compelling public affairs, social media and media outputs.
• Strong copywriting capabilities for a range of audiences, with an ability to explain complex policy concepts.

To develop and manage a calendar of both MDD owned and community led events in order to maximise income and raise awareness of the charity. Overall Responsibilities

• To deliver a range of community activities and events, maximising engagement of supporters and achieving income targets. Develop appropriate processes, procedures and guidelines to ensure that community fundraisers receive a consistently high level of support.
• Plan, support and deliver events and activities organised directly by MDD and promote the charity at external events.
• Work with Head of Fundraising on developing income and expenditure plans, with responsibility for monitoring and reporting regularly on individual event budgets and income targets.

Community

• Engage with local communities, groups and societies, building new relationships and strengthening existing ones, to raise awareness of MDD with the objective of increasing income in line with targets

• Regularly review quality and success rates of MDD merchandise, helping to maximise sales through community events and ensuing that promotional material is distributed to volunteers and accounted for.

Events

• Lead and develop the calendar of events, taking responsibility for the delivery and provide onsite management on the day

• Work alongside the Marketing and Communications Team to develop and implement plans to promote all events

Challenge Events

• Develop and produce supporter materials and provide excellent one to one support for all event participants (individuals and teams participating in third party and / or hosted challenge activities). General Administration

•  Act as first point of contact for Fundraising Team, offering exceptional customer service to supporters.
• Update the Harlequin CRM database as required to ensure all information on our supporters and their activities on our behalf is as accurate and up to date as possible.
• Take responsibility for health and safety, events insurance, liability, safeguarding and data protection for all events, including managing risk and maintaining event data in line with legislation and data governance.

Development Officer

Bradninch Town Trust is the name given to a collection of charities operating for the benefit of local people. 8. Facilitation of The Trustee Board 

• Together with The Chair, collate and distribute paperwork for meetings.

Criteria 

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual with excellent communication and analytical skills. You’ll enjoy looking for ways to optimise all elements of campaigns from creative, content and media testing and able to act as a key point of knowledge in this area. Experience of DRTV is required, with an understanding of individual giving fundraising KPIs, including in relation to: DRTV, print, telemarketing, email and landing pages. You will be confident working with data with attention to detail and accuracy, from briefing data criteria for emails to using excel to review and share results. You will also be able to engage wider stakeholders in our acquisition testing plan development, providing clear regular communication to update on progress and learnings.
