About the role
As Crisis’ Media Officer, you will play a key role in securing impactful media coverage that inspires the public and politicians to join our fight to end homelessness by raising awareness of our influencing campaigns and fundraising events. You will help to build Crisis’ profile by bringing to life our work, demonstrating how we end people’s homelessness for good through education, training and support with housing, employment, and health.
Your role will be creative and varied. You’ll work with our frontline staff to identify people facing homelessness who want to share their stories and empower them to do so. At Crisis we always champion the voices and experiences of the people who we support. You’ll help create bold and hard-hitting news stories to engage our audiences and bring to life some of our biggest organisational campaigns, like our annual Christmas appeal. You will also help make the most of reactive opportunities that come through to our press office and help build relationships with key journalists.
About you
You will have:

Experience of working within a busy press office environment/ PR agency or as a journalist.

Experience of supporting with or delivering impactful media campaigns or stories that have helped secure quality coverage in national and regional news outlets, as well as softer consumer features.

Excellent writing skills, with the ability to craft engaging copy for a range of audiences, including political, consumer, tabloid, trade and everything in between.

Experience of working with case studies, identifying and preparing stories for the media and empowering people to share their experiences.

Strong news sense, with a good working knowledge of the UK media, including digital media production, with experience of creating digital first coverage and amplifying campaign messages creatively in the digital sphere.

Purpose of Role
The Membership Marketing Officer plays a critical role in supporting the Membership and Supporter Experience Team by providing administrative support as well as a bit of creative marketing flair. This is the perfect role for someone looking for their first step in recruiting and retaining supporters.

This role involves handling administrative tasks, data management, and providing support for various multi-channel membership campaigns to help the Ramblers grow our supporter base and income.

Key responsibilities
- Support our key marketing projects including gift membership, private site, telemarketing, our annual member survey and renewal journey.
- Support the distribution and creation of promotional resources, regularly checking stock levels, and re-ordering or refreshing materials as needed, liaising with external suppliers such as print or mailing houses and delivering to budgets and deadline.
- Support the creation of e-communications, including emails to prospective members. This may include proofing content, sourcing images, checking data, building emails and reviewing content requests with support from the team.
- Provide regular impact communications and surprise and delight moments to our suppliers and fundraisers acting on our behalf
- Source inspirational stories from our walking groups and volunteers, to help support growth of our membership community.
- Check data from our Data Team and from our suppliers to ensure it is accurate and in the right format. Provide data as needed to suppliers.
- Co-ordinate across teams to ensure data is provided in a timely fashion
- Check data is lasered correctly on printed materials, raising any concerns appropriately with suppliers
- Coordinate call listening for our core calling programmes, liaising with our volunteers and providing summary of feedback to our suppliers.
- Handle inbound enquiries coming into the team, take simple actions from these enquiries, or escalate as appropriate
- Save relevant reports, track performance and report to the Head of Membership and Supporter Experience anything notable
- Send relevant reports and feedback to suppliers
- Update a weekly tracker sheet of performance across all channels
- Provide additional support as required in responding to Facebook comments on our acquisition adverts

Purpose of post
In 2022, IMO decided to develop deep and focused youth employment programming
to address the significant need in our community. To deliver this, we are partnering
with Impetus. The new programme supports young people from South Asian
backgrounds to bolster their opportunities for sustained education, employment and
training (EET) by providing 1:1 mentoring, family engagement and practical experience.
We are excited to recruit a leader for this programme, to develop it beyond the initial
pilot phase into a long-term, sustainable provision, build and manage local
partnerships, work with others to develop a long-term funding model, and ultimately
to support young people in securing and sustaining employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and line management
- Work with CEO and other SMT members in leading the wider organisation in 1:1 and Senior Management Team meetings
- Lead on recruitment, selection and induction of new mentors

- Building on the initial pilot phase, determine the scope, targets and KPIs for programme over the next 3 years

- Work with the IMO team to adapt and build on existing IMO delivery practices, and work closely with members of the wider organisation to ensure the new programme operates efficiently within all other activities
- Develop strategic relationships to build the network and pipeline of schools and potential delivery partners for the long-term benefit of the programme and its funding streams
Programme management and delivery
- Oversee the delivery of further cohorts of the IMO’s youth employment programme including:
- Ensuring provision of high-quality, consistent delivery of all pillars
- High-impact, meaningful opportunities sourced and scheduled to meet the needs of
individual young people
- Effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Management of delivery staff by way of:
- Supervising and developing delivery staff both individually and as a group
- Managing schedules and workload
- Problem solving any delivery issues with the relevant parties e.g. schools,
young people and families
- Build and contribute to a culture of impact management by:
- Maintaining and monitoring systems & KPIs to facilitate regular impact management reviews
which gather useful and relevant data to improve programme delivery
- Conducting regular programme reviews with the relevant team members to evaluate delivery

Introduction
Stricklandgate House (SGH) is a Grade II listed Georgian Building, which has a fascinating,
varied history and heritage significant to Georgian Kendal. Stricklandgate House Trust (SGHT)
took over ownership of the building in 1998.
SGH operates as a centre for charitable and voluntary organisations for the area. SGH supports
and promotes the charitable and voluntary sector in the delivery of their services by providing
reasonably priced accommodation, common services, facilities, and support. SGHT also
provides counselling space and conference and meeting facilities.
SGHT are the stewards of the building and its heritage; responsible for preserving, enhancing,
and promoting the heritage of the building.
Project Overview
We have been successful with a stage one application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund to
redevelop and enhance Stricklandgate House to become a heritage and community hub in
addition to strengthening is core business of supporting the third sector.
The reimagined building will feature exhibition space for heritage and culture, a community hub
in the centre of Kendal and a strengthened Third Sector hub. It will involve the redevelopment of
a modern annex that separates the Georgian town house from the historic Coach House and
will rediscover and enhance the Georgian features of the Town house, service wing and Coach
House.
The project will deliver a programme of heritage activities in collaboration with heritage
organisations and charities and encourage heritage engagement with underserved groups.
Heritage information and interpretation will feature on site and the building will be enabled to
move to net zero. We will provide engaging information and interpretation about the way in
which we have moved to net zero to inspire others and become an example of how a building of
heritage can be manged sustainably.
The community hub will deliver community facing activities and events in collaboration with
community organisations and local councils.
The project is summarised below in terms of outcomes and objectives:
• Outcome: An accessible, rich, valued, and sustainable heritage setting that strengthens
the charitable, voluntary and community sector in Kendal and Westmorland and Furness
in the delivery of their services.
