We are looking for an experienced and passionate Single Discipline Advocate (Community) to work on our exciting independent advocacy pilot project within the London Borough of Camden.
This is a fixed term opportunity until 31st March 2026.
Independent Advocates work alongside those they support to ensure their voice is heard in processes and decision that will affect them. This role is to ensure that the views of Camden residents, placed within care homes have a say in quality assurances processes.
Rethink Advocacy provides specialist independent advocacy services to eligible adults within London and the across the country. We provide statutory (instructed or non-instructed) and non-statutory advocacy support within secure units, hospitals, care settings and in the community.
How you will make a difference
Your role will be to ensure that the voices of residents, who are placed within Camden care settings, are heard. This will be achieved by facilitating resident meetings and forums for relatives and friends, as well as one-to-one advocacy, including for those who lack the capacity to provide you with instruction. You will work in partnership with stakeholders within Camden, such as other independent advocates, RPRs, care home managers, social workers, quality assurance teams and care staff supporting residents to have a say in what matters to them.
Initially, the work will focus on the Chalk Farm area, however you will be required to travel across the borough and therefore will need to have the ability to travel between locations across the day, as well as travel to team meetings and training sessions as required. You will be linked to the advocates from our Camden Advocacy Service via group discussions and reflective practice and will work closely with the community advocacy team.
We are looking to recruit either qualified or trainee Advocates to this part-time 14 hours per week post.
Qualified Advocates
Will be paid at Band 3 (£26,457 + £3,000 London Allowance per annum pro-rata). Actual salary for 14 hours per week is £10,582.80 plus £1,200 London Allowance.
Trainee Advocates
Will be required to enrol on the Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification and complete the course during their first year of employment.
As a trainee you will be contracted and paid for 17 hours per week (which includes 3 hours paid study time). Trainee Advocates will be paid at Band 2 (£22,004 + £3,000 London Allowance per annum pro-rata). Actual salary during the training period will be based on 17 hours per week, £10,687.66 plus £1,457.14 London Allowance per annum.
Upon satisfactorily completing the Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification, salary will be increased to Band 3 for 14 hours per week.

About the role
St Albans has been home to a market since the ninth century and is the oldest market in England on its original site. It is the market team’s job to ensure that the market continues to flourish into its second millennium and beyond.
In this role you will work as part of a small team bringing new traders to St Albans Markets, supporting existing traders, and ensuring the smooth running of operations on markets days. The markets team deliver 140 market events each year as well as supporting our charity and events teams.
Along with the day-to-day-running of the markets there are many opportunities to take the lead on projects and initiatives to improve the markets and to create opportunities for their market traders.
The role involves working every Saturday and multiple Sundays per year due to market days.

The Role

The Director of Commercial has responsibilities for setting the strategic direction of our commercial activities, developing new products and services to enable growth, and ensuring that our plans and activities are aligned with our charitable purpose and strategic objectives. They work across the society to ensure that opportunities are effectively marketed and support colleagues to generate the budgeted revenue.
Job purpose
To lead the RSS’s commercial activities and develop new products and services that meet the needs of our growing membership and wider community.
Key responsibilities
Understanding needs and the changing external environment
- Develop understanding of the preferences and needs of statisticians and data professionals, and others interested in data and statistics, at an individual and organisational level, to evolve our products and services and align our commercial activities to those preferences and needs
- Undertake research to identify new target markets for commercial products and services
- Undertake research to understand competitors and benchmark RSS products and services
- Monitor and respond to developments and emerging trends in charities, membership organisations and other learned societies, and in statistics/data science/AI to ensure that our commercial offerings remain timely and relevant

Development of strategies and plans
- Drawing input from across the organisation, develop strategies for sales and marketing across commercial products and services that support the organisation’s objectives, including training and conferences and events

- Expand the training programme by targeting both statisticians and data professionals and non-professionals and widening our geographic reach
- Establish and manage effective systems and processes to develop and deliver all training products, including identifying new training topics and trainers (with input from our statistical membership community)
- Ensure high standards of quality and customer service by evaluating feedback and managing the quality assurance process
- Ensure the effective promotion and marketing of training courses.
Conferences and events
- Oversee the development and operation of the RSS conferences and events programme
- Lead the conference and events team in the delivery of RSS conferences and events.
Interfaces with other teams and groups
- Convene and lead cross-RSS groups to develop, share and review plans and activities and identify opportunities for synergy and collaboration
- Work with heads-of and other teams across the organisation to support related objectives

Working for the RSS
Pension and benefits
Our defined contribution pension scheme can be joined after three months in post. Your contributions of up to 8% of salary will be double matched by the Society (making a maximum contribution by the Society of 16%). A training budget, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme and employee assistance programme are also available.
Location
The RSS office is in central London. We offer flexible working arrangements, and this is a hybrid role with on average two days a week working in the office. In person attendance for certain meetings is required (including all staff/team meetings and governance/committee meetings that take place in person). Limited travel within the UK and internationally may be required.
Working hours
35 per week full-time. Applications for job shares, part-time and flexible working will also be considered.
Holidays
25 days per annum, plus bank holidays and an additional shut down between Christmas and New Year.

Job Description
PURPOSE
Ensure that Nacro operates in compliance with its own governance standards, regulations and legislative obligations and has effective controls in place to manage and mitigate risk, including financial sustainability and commercial prudence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Subject to Trustee approval, to be the Company Secretary of Nacro and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and best practice in constitutional and governance matters.
- Oversee the implementation, and maintenance, of the governance framework.
- Operate effective contract management processes from bid through to contract end, ensuring key performance metrics and financial targets are realised during deliver, and that appropriate decisions are made about retendering/re-pricing.
- Ensure an effective risk management framework exists, and is actively scrutinised by the Board and acted upon by the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Ensure that the necessary policies and controls are in place to manage risk, and to ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal obligations that apply to Nacro's operations, including Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Data Protection.

About the role
