Job Title: Community Fundraiser

Job Purpose:
To develop and implement strategies to raise funds through community engagement and events. You will work with the fundraising team to identify opportunities, build relationships, and execute fundraising initiatives that support MyVision Oxfordshire’s objective of supporting visually impaired people in the county.
Duties:

About the Role
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement, in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) and Lebanon.
The Deputy Director of Philanthropy will play a pivotal role in advancing MAP's mission by leading and expanding our fundraising efforts across trusts and foundations, major donors and corporate partnerships in the UK and internationally. Duties and key responsibilities
Leadership, Strategy and Planning
•Build and inspire a high-performing, results-oriented team focused on delivering fundraising targets through tailored partnership plans
•Lead the development of the Philanthropy and Partnerships strategy, setting ambitious targets in line with the fundraising strategy and goals in the UK and globally.
•Collaborate with the Director and Heads of teams to develop team plans aligned with the Fundraising and Marketing strategy.
•Stay ahead of emerging trends and horizon scanning to ensure MAP’s philanthropy offering considers the latest developments.
Relationship Development and Management
•Cultivate and manage strong relationships with corporates, major donors, trust and foundation representatives to secure grants with a focus on multi-year partnerships.
•Develop and manage the portfolio of major donor prospects, creating tailored engagement plans to maximize their philanthropic potential.
•Lead stewardships events to bring the work to life and to connect supporters with MAP programme colleagues and medical volunteers.
•Collaborate with programmes and communications teams to ensure the team creates persuasive proposals, impactful reports, and engaging donor communications.
•Lead and be responsible for the due diligence procedure for new partners, as well as periodically ensuring that current partners still meet MAP’s guidelines.
Budgets, reporting and compliance
•Lead, create and manage annual and three-year rolling budgets working with programmes, communications and finance.
•Working with the Head of Fundraising Operations, provide reporting for the SMT and Board on a quarterly basis, and at a team level on a monthly basis, highlighting risks and opportunities and making necessary adjustments to ensure continued success.
•Ensure all grant applications and reports are submitted punctually and meet funders' requirements.

Key Responsibilities
To work closely with the Evidence & Advocacy Manager (EAM) to develop and implement a series of impactful evidence and research projects that support our advocacy messaging, as well as internal and external learning for inclusive programmes and advisory work. These projects will build on established workstreams alongside developing new ones to maintain and extend CBM UK’s evidence base.
Disability Evidence, Policy Research and Learning
With EAM support the ongoing CBM UK Research and Evidence workstream, through:
1. Translating evidence from our programming countries and projects to produce and contribute to a range of resources to influence FCDO and other stakeholders. Tasks to include managing and maintaining established outputs, such as the CBM UK Project Evidence Briefs and Disability Voices paper series, generating new thematic papers, as well as policy and position papers to enhance effective advocacy submissions, briefing notes, blogs and other messaging on key disability rights issues.
2. Working collaboratively within CBM UK and across CBM Global to help develop and to deliver new policy research, drawing on mixed methods and data sources including national and international databases, using qualitative approaches including participatory or citizen generated data, and new empirical work.
3. Supporting Programme staff to improve impact and learning practice in CBM UK funded projects, provide technical support for the implementation of programme related research and data collection, including MEAL.
4. Providing technical research support into the development of proposals for new grant funded projects, and, where successful, support the management of subsequent research projects.
5. Keeping abreast of new research and publications on key themes and priority concerns within the CBM UK Advocacy and Influencing Strategy, taking into consideration sector trends and developments, and ensure this is disseminated to relevant staff within the CBM UK Team.
6. Keeping watch on UK policy environment and conducting research and analysis to support CBM UK advocacy messaging on disability and human rights.
Dissemination and Communications
1. Maintaining and developing internal knowledge management systems for research and information on disability inclusion and rights, and related areas, to be used by Advocacy, Programmes and Fundraising & Communications teams.
2. Ensuring communication plans are developed with CBM UK and Global Federation colleagues for CBM UK evidence outputs.
3. Maintaining the Advocacy and Influencing pages of the CBM UK website ensuring rights-based communication and focus to support CBM UK and Global campaigns.
4. Liaison with Fundraising & Communications colleagues to amplify media stories, case studies and compelling evidence from country programming for advocacy purposes.
5. Participation in and building good relationships with UK-based disability and development networks, including relevant research networks and membership of the BOND Disability and Development Group.
6. Supporting the professional publication and printing of CBM UK outputs, for dissemination at advocacy engagements and public events.

To maximise funds raised from charitable trusts and foundations
Lead on the development of the short-term and long-term strategies for generating income from trusts and foundations in line with an annual agreed target.
Delivering own financial targets as well as contributing to the wider development team’s revenue and capital income targets.
Manage relationships with existing trusts and foundations, ensuring excellent stewardship, and all required reporting is delivered in line with the funder’s requirements.
Pipeline Development
Proactively research viable trusts and foundations, understanding funder’s needs and

Identify projects and priorities for funding through talking with operational colleagues, to develop compelling projects with accurate budgets, and develop a suite of template proposals for funders.
Researching new and exceptional funding sources including one-off grants as required.

The RSPB, Europe’s leading nature conservation NGO, is seeking a Director of Supporter Fundraising to lead the charity’s work in recruiting and stewarding the next generation of individual supporters to help address the nature and climate emergency.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a charity for the conservation of birds and nature, bringing people together who love birds and other wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world. The charity now manages and protects 160,000 hectares of land across the four countries of the UK.
Public support has been at the centre of RSPB’s work since its foundation as a campaigning organisation in 1889. With 1.1 million current members contributing over £95m to the charity’s cause in 2024, the RSPB has set itself a bold ambition to increase supporter numbers and net income from this core area.
Working closely with the Executive Director for Income and Conservation Investment and other senior stakeholders across RSPB, the Director of Supporter Fundraising will ensure that the organisation maintains and increases its income in membership, individual giving, legacies, in memoriam and community fundraising. The role will be responsible for a large team working to develop new strategies and to engage and grow a diverse supporter base, enabling the charity to inspire long-term support and active engagement with their work.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in growing a large and complex individual giving or subscription programme across multiple products and channels. They will also have demonstrable experience of leading successful organisational transformation to create long-term value, as well as of leading projects within a complex stakeholder or matrix management environment. Significant experience in individual supporter fundraising or consumer marketing through direct marketing techniques will be essential.
As a leader, the successful candidate will have strong collaboration skills with the ability to inspire, develop and motivate teams to achieve challenging goals in a variety of contexts. They will also be able to use their networking and interpersonal skills to build excellent internal and external relationships and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.
