The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead MOVE Against Cancer in its next phase of growth, ensuring that our programmes continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those living with and beyond cancer. The CEO will be responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy to ensure the organisation’s financial growth, programmatic excellence, and alignment with its mission. This role will require a visionary leader with experience in charity management, HR, fundraising, strategic planning, and navigating the dynamic landscape of cancer support.
CEO - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Income Generation & Financial Responsibility
Lead the development and execution of MOVE Against Cancer’s income generation strategy across a diverse range of funders, including trusts and foundations, business partnerships, individual and community fundraising. Create and manage a realistic, achievable annual budget, ensuring that all financial performance aligns with organisational goals. Monitor and report on the organisation’s financial performance, providing regular, accurate updates to the Trustees. Develop relationships with current and potential funders, reporting back on the impact of their donations and securing further financial support. Identify new opportunities to diversify and maximise income streams to support organisational growth, ensuring that the charity can meet its long-term goals. Oversee compliance with fundraising regulations, ensuring that all fundraising activities adhere to legal and ethical standards. Ensure monthly financial reporting and performance tracking, reviewing risks, and taking corrective actions as necessary.
Strategy
Lead the sustainable growth of MOVE Against Cancer, ensuring that the organisation adapts to the evolving landscape of cancer support and related sectors. Work with the Board to regularly review and refine the organisation’s strategy, ensuring it remains responsive to external changes and opportunities.
HR, Compliance & Infrastructure Management
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory, and policy requirements, including health and safety, Charity Commission guidance, safeguarding, and fundraising regulations. Oversee data protection policies, ensuring that MOVE Against Cancer meets all General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and data privacy laws. Develop and review organisational policies and procedures at appropriate intervals to ensure best practices and compliance with regulations. Establish a continuous improvement framework, gathering feedback and data to guide the organisation’s strategic direction and operational excellence. Coordinate with senior leadership to ensure that all services meet or exceed the expectations of funders, partners, and beneficiaries.
Stakeholder Relationships
Protect and enhance the reputation of MOVE Against Cancer by acting as the organisation’s spokesperson Actively seek collaborations and partnerships with other charities, NHS Trusts, and relevant statutory bodies to strengthen MOVE Against Cancers impact.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications & Experience
Significant experience in growing and leading a charitable (or similar) organisation, with a proven track record of success in expanding reach and impact. Previous experience leading a charitable (or similar) organisation, including strategic planning, governance, and financial management. Demonstrated experience in leading and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including managing major donor relationships, grants, corporate partnerships, and community fundraising campaigns. In-depth knowledge and experience of cancer support services and the challenges faced by people living with and beyond cancer, including their families. Strong track record of working collaboratively with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to achieve shared goals. Excellent communication, public speaking, and relationshipbuilding skills, with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders including funders, healthcare professionals, and the public.

About the role:
This is a crucial position as it will be your responsibility to ensure the growth of the charity, enabling us to support even more children and their families in Darfur, Sudan. You will be an experienced and highly motivated leader overseeing the overall development of the charity, ensuring its continued success in its next phase of the charity’s growth. You will oversee the charity’s budget to ensure the long-term financial sustainability and be responsible for the charity’s fundraising, grants, individuals and our events. You will lead a passionate and dedicated team including working with our volunteers, both in the UK and in the USA and Australia. You will also play a key role in building relationships with donors, potential donors, corporates and other stakeholders.
You will work closely with the Country Director (currently our Founder) for Darfur and oversee projects and assist recruitment in Sudan as soon as it is safe to do so. At present our Sudan staff are working from outside the country as Darfur faces extreme violence. Projects within Darfur are implemented by the Steering Committee, who are volunteer village leaders working with the charity since 2010.
Your main duties will include:
• Provide vision and leadership for the charity setting the overall vision and strategic direction, ensuring alignment with its mission and values.
• Develop and implement a strategic plan in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
• Act as the public face of the charity, undertaking a range of speaking opportunities and acting as a media spokesperson.
• Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring the effectiveness and efficient use of charity resources.
• Oversee budgeting and financial planning – manage the charity’s finances, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Build relationships with celebrities, Patrons and key Stakeholders.

From start-up to scale-up, TRP is now looking for a dynamic leader to develop our offerings and oversee our international operations. Fight Bladder Cancer is a UK-based bladder cancer charity founded and run by bladder cancer patients and their families / carers.
We provide personal support anyone affected by bladder cancer in the U.K. We also help raise public awareness, support medical research, and campaign to influence policy at the highest levels to bring about improvements in bladder cancer treatments.
We may be a small organisation in relative terms, but we are one with big ambitions and for good reason.
The number of people in the UK living with bladder cancer currently exceeds 100,000 and with around 20,000 new cases each year, despite a 16% reduction in instances over the past decade, early diagnosis and treatment remain a key challenge.

The role is predominantly a home-based role however it will require local travel to attend meetings at Heathrow and in the surrounding boroughs.
The purpose of the role is to own, develop and deliver against their strategy. The CEO will ensure the successful day-to-day running of the operations and ensuring it maximises its impact. The board are seeking to appoint an individual who will increase the available grant funds through securing new sources of income. The CEO will act as an advocate and raise the charity’s profile, ensuring meaningful relationships in the local community and with stakeholders, including their main funders.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role where the individual will be solely responsible for managing all aspects of day-to-day operations while also driving the charity’s strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a unique ability to pivot seamlessly between strategic charity leadership and the practical, operational aspects of running an organisation. The CEO must be comfortable with both setting the long-term direction and ensuring the smooth execution of daily tasks, ensuring alignment between vision and operations.
The successful candidate will have proven leadership experience from within a charity, not-for-profit or business environment and will bring a passion for working in the charity sector and supporting the local community. A self-starter, you will have demonstrable experience of building strong relationships and partnerships with a variety of organisations such as not-for-profits and corporates. You will have the ability to present to the Board of Trustees when required and be confident liaising with senior level stakeholders. You will have a good understanding of budgeting and financial management to ensure financial sustainability and the overall smooth running of the charity.

We have an excellent opportunity for a CEO working for an educational healthcare charity, which seeks to support healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa, initially through pharmacy education. You will report to the Board. As part of this role, you will lead the charity’s mission to support clinical pharmacy education, through overseeing the quality of lecture production, leveraging expertise in pharmacy, and securing partnerships for the training programme. Key goals include ensuring the strategic planning and implantation of the e-learning programme, and developing relationships with partners such as universities. You will look for additional funding from diverse sources to ensure financial sustainability for the future.
This role will offer you the exciting opportunity to act as an instrumental part of the charity’s growth by expanding its presence across sub-Saharan Africa, exploring opportunities in other healthcare professions like physicians and nurses. You will also manage two direct reports.
To be successful as the CEO, you will need:

Key responsibilities:
· Collaborate with the MMUK Board of Trustees and MMI to lead the design and execution of an ambitious growth strategy, to ensure the organisation can achieve its mission and stays true to our values.
· In collaboration with our Director of Supporter Engagement & Income, develop and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy for MMUK, focused on growing our supporter base, developing new partnerships and nurturing existing partnerships with various networks and other grassroots communities.
· Work with our Director of Communications to develop and implement an ambitious media and communications strategy to drive growth.
· Manage, monitor and report on the progress against organisational goals and objectives, in collaboration with our Director of Finance & Operations.
