About this role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Finance Coordinator to join our finance team. The Senior Finance Coordinator will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and financial tasks, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions, and providing support in the preparation of financial statements, restricted and unrestricted funds budgeting and reporting. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in Project finance with USAID and other big donors, possess strong analytical skills, and have a solid understanding of charity accounting principles and regulations. Job Description
Main Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
- Process and reconcile financial transactions, such as invoices, payments, and expense reports
- Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- With programme colleagues lead on budgeting and forecasting processes
- Support programme teams with financial reporting
- Monitor cash flow and provide management options Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits
- With Associate Director of Finance and Operations undertake internal programme audits
- Provide support in payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and best practices
- Assist in implementing and improving accounting processes and systems
Skills required:
Essential skills
- High level of experience in using QuickBooks, preferably QuickBooks Online and Excel
- Posting journals and corrections of previous postings
- Setting up recurring journals, both scheduled and unscheduled
- Able to create / delete / close nominal account codes, classes and locations
- Experience in project finance and ideally should have worked on USAID and other large-scale projects.
- Able to input or amend budget information
- Reconcile bank accounts and other nominal accounts
- Make allocations including split allocations base on programme budgets
- Download various reports from QuickBooks into Excel files
- Able to analyse and present financial information to non-finance colleagues
Accounting and Finance :
- Ability to prepare up to Trial Balance Level (using Quick Books online)
- Ability to provide all year-end financial reports to accountants/auditors to produce audited financial statements
- Charity Accounting
- Reconciliation of bank accounts and various nominal ledger accounts (e.g., payroll accounts including PAYE/NIC/Pensions, Accounts Payable/Receivable, depreciation, etc)
- Understanding and ability to calculate and post journals relating to prepayments and accruals

Our Helpline and expert advisers offer free, practical support to older people without enough money to live on. Through our grants programme, we support hundreds of local organisations working with older people across the UK.
We use the knowledge and insight gained from our support services and partnerships to highlight the issues experienced by older people in poverty and campaign for change.

Responsibilities and Person Specification:
This role will play a critical role in delivering and developing our UK wide Advice and Support service, ensuring it works seamlessly with our outsourced Helpline and delivers real impact for older people in or facing financial hardship. You will also work closely with the Director to inform the future design and delivery of these services.
You should have experience of leading and managing a similar high volume, multi-channel remote service with demonstratable success in identifying and implementing service improvements.
You will have a deep understanding of issues affecting older people in financial hardship in the UK and an understanding of how Advice and Support interventions can improve lives.
This role could either be contracted to our London office, or homebased. Regular travel to our London office will be required, regularly if homebased, and a minimum of once a week if contracted to the London office. The ability to travel across the UK, including to Scotland, is also required.

Role Overview:
This is a new role, providing an opportunity to develop and evolve it. As Compliance Officer, you will be the Charity’s lead and expert on compliance with its external regulatory requirements and internal policies. Specifically, you will be responsible for managing and assuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, including UK charity law, financial regulations, GDPR, safeguarding, and anti-money laundering regulations.
You will report directly to the CEO and provide advice and assistance to the Senior Management Team, as well as personnel across the Charity. The role focuses on advising, assisting, and supporting others while maintaining the authority and independence to ensure compliance.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a robust compliance programme that ensures adherence to internal and external policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and sector best practices.
- Work with various departments to maintain and implement compliance assurance across the Charity, ensuring that appropriate and reasonable measures are in place in line with legislative changes and sector best practices.
- Conduct regular audits, compliance reviews, and spot checks to identify risks, evaluate controls, and manage compliance risks, including investigations and reporting findings.
- Act as the main point of contact for external regulators, auditors, and clients, including the Charity Commission and the Fundraising Regulator.
- Manage the process of periodic audits as per the compliance framework, identifying actions for remediation and developing action plans to address risks.
- Ensure that policies and processes comply with all relevant legislation and regulations. Keep up-to-date with any legal and regulatory changes affecting the Charity's activities and provide advice and interpretation to Senior Management and relevant staff.
- Maintain and update the compliance register, tracking action points and following up on identified risks.
- Provide compliance training sessions to staff members, ensuring they understand how compliance relates to their roles and responsibilities.
- Prepare and present detailed compliance reports to senior management, the Finance and Audit Committee, and the Board of Trustees (BoT), highlighting key risks, issues, and recommendations for improvement.
- Foster a culture of ethical conduct and compliance within the organisation by promoting best practices.

Work Context
· The post is based in Nottingham and will involve regular travel to overseas partner offices.
· The role requires adaptability to changing priorities, understanding the compliance needs of all parts of the Charity, and ensuring compliance assurance is met across the organisation.
Additional Responsibilities
• Attend in-house and external training courses, as agreed with the line manager.
• Practise and comply with all current policies and procedures, including GDPR.

Autonomy and Decision Making
· The post holder will be responsible for their workload and outputs, working closely with the CEO. They must retain sufficient independence to report on compliance truthfully.
· The post holder must be able to work autonomously, displaying initiative, flexible thinking, and self-motivation. They must understand the Charity’s business model and ensure all related compliance areas are managed effectively.
Communications
The post holder will regularly engage with people across the organisation, including front-line operations staff, HQ staff, the Senior Management Team, and the CEO.

Qualification:
Graduate, preferably in Project Management, Finance, or Business and Management, ideally with certifications in PRINCE 2, charity governance and compliance. Ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of relevant experience in the third sector.
Essential:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Salford CVS to support a new community engagement and investment programme.
We are looking to recruit a part-time (18.75 hours per week) Development Worker (Movement and Physical Activity) on a 3-year fixed-term contract.
You will lead our role in the Place Partner Investment programme in Salford, funded by Sport England (via GM Moving) and working in partnership with Salford Community Leisure. Salford CVS leads on VCSE engagement and investment, while Salford Community Leisure leads on systems change work.
You will engage and build relationships with VCSE organisations in specific areas of Salford in order to understand barriers to physical activity and existing provisions.
Combining this with knowledge already held at Salford CVS and insight from Salford Community Leisure’s system-wide engagement activity, you will design and deliver an investment programme for VCSE organisations that drives increases in movement and physical activity across various Salford communities.

Key Activity Areas
External Engagement & Relationship Building

Lead on our external engagement with churches across the UK, growing the number of churches engaging in the mission of Medair through giving, prayer and awareness raising.

Oversee the delivery of our monthly prayer email, and ad-hoc prayer resources, as well as working collaboratively with colleagues in Medair UK and the wider group to commission resources that will engage Christian audiences.

With the support of the Engagement Support Officer co-ordinate all requests for speakers in churches ensuring that a staff member or alumni, is available and well briefed ahead of time.

Oversee the management the Medair UK alumni network – developing events, online and in-person, personal touchpoints and communications that will encourage this warm audience to keep enthused about Medair and growing our awareness in there networks.
Church Management

Manage the related tasks of the Engagement Support Officer whose role is split with 60% on Trusts and Foundations, and 40% on Churches and Alumni. This is matrix-management as the Engagement Support Officer is line managed by the Grants Manager.

Oversee the receipting and acknowledgement of all financial support from churches, using creative ways to thank and steward churches and supporters who generously donate.

Maintain an up-to-date and accurate record of church relationships on our CRM (salesforce), monitoring engagement events, income targets, key contacts and audience growth.

We are looking to recruit a part-time (30 hours per week) Grants Development Worker on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.
You will assist the Grants Manager and Grants Coordinator in the development and delivery of a large grants and investments programme (aimed at voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations and schools) in excess of £1.6m per year, largely focused on addressing health inequalities in the city of Salford. The role will be based in both the office and community settings. We currently operate a hybrid working model, which includes office days and working from home.

The key duties of the Director of Finance and Corporate Services are as follows:
- Lead on the implementation of corporate strategies, with appropriate strands for each enabling function so that they support the strategic and operational objectives.

The successful candidate will have:

- Some knowledge and experience of HR at a management level, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.
- Ability to engage with, and contribute to, strategic decision making.
- Experience of embedding new processes/systems and implementing organisational change.
