In this role, no two days will be the same! While you’ll handle routine administrative tasks like managing bookings, email inboxes, and catering, you’ll also have the chance to be hands-on, supporting group visits and interacting with people from all walks of life. Your role will be integral to the way we engage visitors and supporters, and share the story of The Poppy Factory’s modern mission and 100 years of history.
What you’ll be doing:
- Being the warm, welcoming first point of contact for anyone reaching out to The Poppy Factory, whether by phone, email, or in person.
- Managing bookings for group visits, volunteering sessions, and corporate events, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
- Coordinating with volunteers and staff to ensure all events and visits are perfectly organised.
- Keeping things running behind the scenes—whether it’s organising catering or offering administrative support for our high-profile events like the Field of Remembrance.

The Role – Trusts & Foundations Manager

Our Requirements
- Proven experience in trusts and foundations fundraising roles, with a track record of securing and managing small, medium and large grants from trusts and foundations.
- Proven ability to write exceptional, accurate and compelling grant applications.
- Proven expertise in copywriting and storytelling.
- Experience in producing high-quality reports for funders and senior stakeholders.
- Skilled in managing and developing a portfolio of funders.

Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 138 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and other accessible activities for all members of the community.
T&T carries out a wide range of activities and events, but we need support and growing our voice. We have made some big changes in our ways of working since Covid, shifting and responding to community need and sector landscape. We intend to keep working flexibly to deliver the most impactful work possible and build our reach across social media, digital newsletters, website updates, while maintaining traditional communication like community noticeboards. Job Summary:
To provide support to Companions using a person-centred approach, both emotionally and practically, so they can live and work in the Emmaus Community. The role will involve using a Strength Based Practice model to encourage Companions to become resilient and fulfilled. Assist Companions to become independent and maximise their skills, where necessary accessing outside support and services. Where appropriate, in accordance with Companion requests, provide a move-on pathway that enables them to be ready to live independently.

Key Responsibilities

About the role
This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in two of our schools in East London, currently delivering our Gateway programme and moving to our new Accelerate programme next school year.
The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors and coaches, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of our programmes is optimised.
Role responsibilities
• Work directly with students in a professional and safe manner.
• Engage with school staff, your Programme Manager, and students in school to ensure that you have fully enrolled cohorts across both programmes.
• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful Key Stage 5 and university applications.
• Upload information onto the Salesforce database in a timely manner (training is provided).
• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programmes.

Many roles at The Children’s Trust are exempt from the provisions of Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020) and as such, are subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, which will disclose all unspent convictions and adult cautions and any spent convictions or adult cautions that would not be protected. The exceptions to this are our retail roles within The Children’s Trust shops, which are subject to Basic DBS checks which will disclose unspent convictions or adult cautions.

Online Searches
In accordance with statutory safeguarding and child protection guidance, online searches will be conducted for shortlisted candidates before interview. The online searches will be conducted by a person who is independent of the interview and selection process and will focus on relevant information returned via searches of the candidate’s name (and variations thereof). Social media searches will be limited to professional platforms such as LinkedIn. Any concerns relating to suitability for work with children and young people will be forwarded to the interview panel, for discussion during the interview.
