An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Shop Manager to join our Dorking Team. As a Shop Manager, you will be reporting to the Retail Operations Manager.  Your role will be to be responsible and accountable for maximising shop profit by achieving budgeted income, controlling shop expenditure in line with budget and recruiting and retaining a motivated team of volunteers.

Knowing what it takes to maximise shop sales, you will possess a sound knowledge of technical terms and commercial arithmetic, and an excellent understanding of working within a customer focused environment.  With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail.  You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

Role Requirements

Income generation
To manage the Retail budget to achieve agreed targets:
• To maximise shop sales by achieving agreed targets both through donated stock and bought in/new goods. This involves proactive stock generation, optimum pricing, processing stock to agreed amounts and stock planning.
• Achieve Gift Aid sales conversion target through maximising new donor sign up and encouraging repeat donations.
• Achieve the shops Raffle sales targets through involving the shops team.
• To maintain high levels of shop presentation by merchandising and housekeeping to agreed standards as set out in the Shops Operations manual.
• Manage the stock levels of bought in/new goods, to include ordering of more stock as and when necessary and recording key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Assist in holding and attending Fundraising events to promote the awareness of The Children’s Trust.
• To source links with local communities to promote Retail in the community via media and other sources.
• Role involves a degree of manual handling in sorting and lifting of stock.

Administration and compliance
To ensure adherence to The Children’s Trust policies and procedures, in particular ensuring full compliance of the shops in line with all Health & Safety legislation, Trading Standards, Risk Assessments, Gift Aid, Raffle and all other legal or statutory requirements:
• To control shop expenditure through effective cost control of weekly expenses.
• To ensure minimum losses of both stock and cash by following bank and till procedures, and safeguarding the property of The Children’s Trust at all times.
• To adhere to all Policies and Procedures including those relating to the compliance with Health and Safety responsibilities, Gift Aid and Raffle.
• To be responsible for the daily management of Health and safety within the shops, completing daily checks and contributing to Risk Assessments.
• To complete all administration to meet the requirements, standard and deadlines for whom this work is produced.
• Embracing the change and development of new technology in the shop, for example The Loop (internal intranet) and Chariot (EPOS till system).
• Timely efficient responses to requests for information including voice and email messages.
• To fulfil any other agreed duties that may at times be reasonably required.

Personnel and Training
To ensure the Shops team are: recruited, retained and developed:
• Provides positive, visible and proactive leadership to the Assistant Manager and Shops Volunteer team.
• To manage all employees and volunteers within the Shop in accordance with the aims and values of The Children’s Trust.
• To be responsible for the daily management of the shop team, including contribution to performance reviews for any Assistant Shop Managers.
• To recruit, support and retain team of shop volunteers.
• Provide induction and training for both Assistant Shop Manager and volunteer team as and when necessary.
• Attend where appropriate, training courses relevant to the development of the role
• Promote awareness of relevant training courses and development opportunities to others within the team.
• Attendance at Retail Sales Meetings and responsible for cascading information to Shops team as appropriate.
• To assist the Retail Sales Manager in shop openings and closures.
• Undertake relief cover within The Trust’s shops as and when required.
• Carries out duties in accordance with Trust values.

Customer Service
To ensure customer care and quality of service:
• To provide excellent customer care through quality of service, dealing with complaints both efficiently and effectively, and having a good understanding of what The Children’s Trust does.
• Support other shops and fundraising colleagues as and when necessary.
• Adheres to all health and safety guidelines, including infection prevention and control.
• Provide evidence of a valid NHS Covid Pass or acceptable proof of Covid vaccination or medical exemption and all vaccinations (or medical exemption) required for the post.
• Adhere to manual handling procedures and complete mandatory manual handling training.
• Promotes the health and safety of others.
• Uses the incident reporting and risk assessment system (IRAR), to identify and report risks and incidents/actions if directed.
• Responsible for identifying and mitigating risk within the work environment.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Special Events Officer on a six month contract to join the Fundraising team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join the busy Events team.  You will be responsible for assisting the team with the management of existing events to maximise income including the Carol Concert and our Defence Industry Dinner. You will need to work to agreed budgets as well as input to the setting of financial targets. 2024 is a busy year for the Events team, presenting many opportunities to get involved with fast paced, exciting events.

The SSAFA Events team is a small team with a high output, both financially and in terms of number of events produced. We work closely together and thrive to deliver high quality, successful events.

About you

To carry out this role successfully experience in planning, developing, delivering and evaluating fundraising campaigns is essential and an understanding of the charity sector and ideally a background of working in charity events is desirable. You will be diligent, conscientious and have high attention to detail. In addition, you will demonstrate the ability to develop positive relationships with our supporters in order to manage and grow existing events and relationships.

Job purpose

This is a pivotal role created to support an ambitious £80m fundraising appeal that will culminate in the creation of the new Royal Free London Cancer Centre.

The RFL, is one of the busiest cancer services in London, combining local care for a population of 2.5m with specialist services relied on by patients from all over the UK and beyond. By 2030, the number of people diagnosed with cancer in north central London is forecast to increase by 42% to 66,000 as the population ages.

The RFL urgently needs to increase its diagnostic, treatment, research and development capacity to meet the needs of our patients. In response, the Royal Free Charity is preparing a major fundraising appeal to support:

•  the capital costs for the construction and equipping of a dedicated centre
• the delivery of cancer-related support services.

The campaign communications manager will support the activities of our fundraising directorate in the private phase (Autumn 2024 onwards) and the launch of the public phase of our appeal in early 2026.

The postholder will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication plans to engage philanthropists, existing supporters, grateful patients, stakeholders and the public. It promises to be a varied and rewarding role in a small but highly collaborative and friendly team.

The role will report to our head of communications and work closely with the campaign director and colleagues in our fundraising directorate and with key clinical leads in the RFL.  

The role is ideally suited to someone who is comfortable working across strategic planning and operational delivery, relishing the opportunity to translate plans into activity.

Engagement and communications department

The communications team is responsible for keeping our supporters and local residents informed about the difference we make to the patients and staff of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

We celebrate achievements and promote the charity and its successes to the world. We manage our digital presence through a range of channels including our website, our social media platforms and email marketing.

The objectives of the post are to: 

• develop and deliver the overarching communications and engagement plan for the cancer campaign
• work with the campaign director and colleagues in our fundraising directorate to support the development and delivery of donor-specific communication plans
• work with the campaign chair and campaign board members to promote the campaign in sectors where they are seeking to raise significant funds i.e. tech, finance, banking, media etc
• work with the campaign director and relevant agency to produce campaign materials and ensure the patient voice is represented in the appeal
• embed and champion the campaign brand to ensure consistency across all communications
• develop and maintain a campaign web presence, ensuring it is regularly updated with relevant content
• identify opportunities for thought leadership, including long-read articles and guest blog posts
• identify opportunities to update our supporters on progress
• share in the delivery of internal communications activity to ensure our staff and volunteers are well-informed ambassadors for the campaign
• share in the delivery of engagement activity with our online followers and supporters, responding in a timely and positive manner to comments and messages
• produce a wide range of communication materials including, but not limited to, reports, case studies, press releases and supporter information

• manage the storing of content and related consent on our digital asset management system

Title: Male Residential Support Worker (this is a live-in role)

Responsible to: Senior Support Worker

Responsible for: Young people living in the accommodation (4 young people aged 16 – 18 years old seeking asylum in the UK).

Location: This is a live-in, residential role based in a supported accommodation home in Loughborough. Some work will be based in our office buildings.

Hours: 25 hours per week on duty – this is a mixture of day, evening and weekend shifts. Two days a week will be off duty.

Leave: Two nights a month can be taken as nights away from the home. This in addition to annual leave allowance. Annual leave - 33 days (converted into hours) pro-rata for number of hours worked

Salary Band: £24,150 - £27,760 per annum pro rata. Equivalent to £16,100 to £18,506 for 25 hours a week.

Overall Purpose

To provide advice, assistance and support to young people in the home, as a key member of the Support Team, delivering Baca’s service in line with our Vision and Values. The role includes a consistent adult presence in the home. To attend to their practical and emotional needs whilst supporting the development of living skills. To teach them how to manage and look after a home in order to keep it safe and hygienic. To build trusting relationships within the home to enable young people to feel safe and cared for. To act as an excellent role model and to work closely with them and their Support Worker to enable them to make good progress towards independence.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Welcome newly arrived young people into the accommodation, helping them feel safe and able to rest; with compassion without discrimination of age, race, colour or behavioural issues.
• Actively support young people to make progress and develop in the following outcomes; physical wellbeing and emotional wellbeing; personal safety; education and learning; employment and training that is safe and suitable; social engagement (being part of the community and activities outside of the home)
• Be an excellent and positive role model, offering advice, guidance and assistance and consistently modelling behaviours in line with Baca’s values.
• Using Baca’s progress plan, train all young people in living skills and looking after a home such as washing, personal safety, cleaning, cooking and food safety, food shopping and budgeting.

• Encourage young people settle into and support them to maintain a healthy routine which will include regularly attending education and social activities.
• Act as a co-keyworker for the young people to ensure that their support plans and progress are up to date and that all their needs are being met.

• In accordance with the guidelines on Safeguarding and Health and Safety policies, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and report any concerns.

• Take responsibility for keeping the home clean, by consistently role modelling to and training young people.
• Maintain very good communication with relevant members of the Rebuild Team and relevant social workers
• Ensure regular appropriate reporting requirements are consistently met, meeting regulations set out by Ofsted.
• Complete and update all admin work as part of the role such as month end reports and support plans on time and in a consistent manner.
• Playing an active role in developing knowledge and understanding in areas relevant to the role and especially in the areas of asylum and refugee law, trafficking, supporting separated children and the cultures of different nations relevant to Baca.

Baca is looking for a Support Worker who is passionate about seeing unaccompanied young refugees achieving their potential and rebuilding their lives for a better future. They will be a good self-starter and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire our young people to be the best they can be. The successful applicant will be motivated and passionate about the work that Baca does and the young people in our care. Someone who is supportive, approachable, responsible, reliable, personable and willing to set boundaries in line with Baca’s values.

This is a frontline role that will need the successful applicant to be working closely with young people in their houses and will need access to transport young people to different appointments, meetings and activities.

This new role of HR Manager will be working with our team to support their employment and wellbeing, as well as providing the key structure and systems to enable the Trust to deliver to our clients and funders.  Over the last couple of years we have expanded and although we are proud of how we support our clients and colleagues it is now clear that we need in-house support to ensure that this continues and to help drive improvements. 

As this is a stand alone post we do need someone who is experienced and CIPD qualified.  Experience of the charity/third sector is not essential nor is management experience. Commitment to promoting welfare and inclusion are essential requirements for the role.

You will be reporting to the CEO but also be the key employee on the People and Culture sub committee which brings together trustees, including a HR professional, and staff to discuss and plan work priorities.

Back Up’s Regional Outreach and Engagement team are the very face of the organisation and are based across the UK, working directly with spinal cord injury centres, hospitals – or indeed anywhere that people affected by spinal cord injury may be.

This newly created position will become part of the Public Fundraising team and will develop and implement a legacy fundraising programme that will allow the charity to realise the great untapped potential of gifts in wills for the Charity. The Legacy Fundraising Manager will be tasked with increasing the number of legacy enquirers and pledgers from existing and new supporters and contribute to the charity’s sustainable long-term income growth

Gifts in wills are an important income stream for the charity, last year raising over £2M towards our fundraised income, despite limited promotion in this area. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced legacy fundraiser to really make their mark and develop a programme of activity that will feed our future legacy pipeline.

Your key responsibilities will include;

• Developing and driving forward an engaging and inspiring programme of activity that will increase numbers of legacy enquirers and pledgers from existing and new supporters.
• Project managing legacy fundraising activities, including creative development, briefing and managing external suppliers, briefing data selections and assessing results.
• Managing a legacy pipeline - engaging prospects, generating enquiries, moving supporters from enquirers to pledgers, stewarding pledgers and legator family members. 
• Applying a strategic approach to legacy fundraising, producing annual fundraising plans, and contributing to longer term strategic growth of legacy income for the charity.
• As the programme grows there will likely be opportunities to develop and deliver legacy cultivation and stewardship events, alongside a digital and offline communication plan - making the most of existing events in the calendar as well as working with colleagues in the major giving team to explore other opportunities to engage those on the legacy pipeline in person.

This position would ideally suit a candidate with;

• A strong track record of legacy fundraising, with a broad knowledge of the gifts in wills marketplace and an ability to champion legacies
• Excellent experience and knowledge of relationship fundraising, marketing, cultivation and stewardship techniques needed for legacy fundraising
• Strong analytical and strategic planning skills, and competent using data and insight to plan supporter focused activity

The Miscarriage Association (MA) is a national charity dedicated to providing support and information to anyone affected by the loss of a baby in pregnancy. We also raise awareness of the impact of loss, advocate for those affected and challenge the taboos that can make miscarriage a lonely as well as distressing experience.

We do this by offering staffed support services (telephone helpline, live chat, email and DM), a network of peer support groups, a comprehensive website and a range of highly regarded patient leaflets. We also provide training and resources for health professionals and employers, contribute to research and ensure the patient voice is heard by policy and decision-makers.

We are about to begin a new chapter in our 40-year history, with ambitious plans to ensure our trusted services and support reaches even more people affected by this often-heartbreaking experience.

We are looking for a senior campaigns, media and PR specialist to lead our recently expanded communications team to deliver a compelling and influential comms and campaigns strategy.

You will be responsible for the strategic development and operational delivery of all our campaigns and external communications, finding creative ways to build our brand, increase understanding of pregnancy loss and grow our income. You will manage relationships with the media and lead on securing coverage across online and offline channels, through, for example, press releases, human interest stories, case studies and position statements.

Acting as a key ambassador for the MA, you will also support the CEO to develop and maintain strong relationships with, and represent the charity to, a diverse range of stakeholders. Title: Male Residential Support Worker (this is a live-in role)

Responsible for: Young people living in the accommodation (4 young people aged 16 – 18 years old seeking asylum in the UK).

Location: This is a live-in, residential role based in a supported accommodation home in Cambridge. Some work will be based in our office buildings.

Hours: 25 hours per week on duty – this is a mixture of day, evening and weekend shifts. Two days a week will be off duty.

Leave: Two nights a month can be taken as nights away from the home. This in addition to annual leave allowance. Annual leave - 33 days (converted into hours) pro-rata for number of hours worked

Salary Band: £24,150 - £27,760 per annum pro rata. Equivalent to £16,100 to £18,506 for 25 hours a week. Plus annual Cambridge Living Allowance of £1495.

Overall Purpose

To provide advice, assistance and support to young people in the home, as a key member of the Support Team, delivering Baca’s service in line with our Vision and Values. The role includes a consistent adult presence in the home. To attend to their practical and emotional needs whilst supporting the development of living skills. To teach them how to manage and look after a home in order to keep it safe and hygienic. To build trusting relationships within the home to enable young people to feel safe and cared for. To act as an excellent role model and to work closely with them and their Support Worker to enable them to make good progress towards independence.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Welcome newly arrived young people into the accommodation, helping them feel safe and able to rest; with compassion without discrimination of age, race, colour or behavioural issues.
• Actively support young people to make progress and develop in the following outcomes; physical wellbeing and emotional wellbeing; personal safety; education and learning; employment and training that is safe and suitable; social engagement (being part of the community and activities outside of the home)
• Be an excellent and positive role model, offering advice, guidance and assistance and consistently modelling behaviours in line with Baca’s values.
• Using Baca’s progress plan, train all young people in living skills and looking after a home such as washing, personal safety, cleaning, cooking and food safety, food shopping and budgeting.
• Providing emotional support at times of difficulty, anxiety or stress.
• Encourage young people settle into and support them to maintain a healthy routine which will include regularly attending education and social activities.
• Act as a co-keyworker for the young people to ensure that their support plans and progress are up to date and that all their needs are being met.
• Enable young people to live with positive values and good boundaries by challenging any unhelpful or unsafe behaviours and encouraging safe and positive behaviours.
• In accordance with the guidelines on Safeguarding and Health and Safety policies, to accept responsibility for working within these guidelines and report any concerns.
• Work collaboratively with the rest of the Rebuild Team to ensure all young people are safeguarded and supported to rebuild their lives.
• Take responsibility for keeping the home clean, by consistently role modelling to and training young people.
• Maintain very good communication with relevant members of the Rebuild Team and relevant social workers
• Ensure regular appropriate reporting requirements are consistently met, meeting regulations set out by Ofsted.
• Complete and update all admin work as part of the role such as month end reports and support plans on time and in a consistent manner.
• Playing an active role in developing knowledge and understanding in areas relevant to the role and especially in the areas of asylum and refugee law, trafficking, supporting separated children and the cultures of different nations relevant to Baca.
